  • @weflylow2183 Whats up with the Atari 5200 burning down your house story.

I don't see anything on the web about reported fires from the 5200.

  • 2600 was the worst thing ever and yet it was the first. The problem was the patent had to expire in order for progress to happen. Typical American phony freedom that costs too much, ends up being a rip off even though you keep on paying for "progress".

  • The two men who started Atari put in $250 to launch the company and became millionaires. Seems like a nice bit of freedom to me. If a company wanted to make games, they didn't have to make them for Atari. I think your anti-American rant could have used a little more knowledge and less jealous hatred.

  • It cost much more than the inflation rate would estimate today. Can't even start to help the public without being charged way too much and driven out of business in the first year. That way competition is kept out and workers keep falling behind inflation. If you had a million $ in 1999, by next year it will be only worth $125,000. I think your American rant ignores the current financial crisis of the majority of people and goes off with zealous hype.

  • Nearly every monopoly that "drives other out of business" started as small businesses themselves. If the product or service is good, it will catch on. If you or someone you know has had difficulty, it's probably because nobody wanted the service. If there is value, people buy. It's just that simple. Crying and complaining about America is a defeatist attitude that is conducive to failure. If America doesn't suit you, might I suggest you try another market. Find a country that is right for you.

  • OK I won't complain if it distracts you away from reality. The "market" does not represent the majority of people. America became much more 'service oriented' starting year 2000, the year the real financial breakdown started. Stop acting like WE are trying to serve everybody or even half.

If Atari gave up rights ten years early on that patent we would all be ten years ahead today on video games.

  • Patents are the only thing keeping independent inventors from having ideas stolen by companies who can manufacture the physical product quicker and more efficiently. If you were making money on a product, would you give up your rights to it? If you say anything other than "no", you're a liar. In fact, you're not worthy of another minute of my time. Enjoy being an unhappy, uneducated fool.

  • I already knew all that you keep saying. REPEAT:Patents sometimes need to be given up, if it means progress. On top of that they were already millions past the break even point covering costs/risks. SO yes I would give it up if it meant progress of home video games by ten years and after making millions of dollars too

99% of new inventions since 1999 are hype, by the way.

Stop acting like WE are here to help the public through the patent process!

Who is more efficient?? I don't believe it
