i can't believe after all those amazing and talented woman, people like Resse Witherspoon and Sandra Bullock were chose as winners, thanks academy for giving away your pity votes!
so many of the greats don't get enough attention payed to them today personally though I Think Glenda Jackson's second oscar was joke Barbra Streisand Or Joanne Woodward were better in the parts they played then Glenda was in A touch Of Class
I agree with you about Glenda's second oscar. Although I think she is a terrific actress, Ellen Burstyn should have won for The Exorcist. I think the Academy were unwilling to give her an oscar for it (and for best picture over The Sting) because it was controversial. Personally I think they gave Glenda the oscar more for the title of the film than anything else unfortunately.
i dont know in 05,felicity huffman just thrilled me,reese is absolutely amazing in walk the line, but felicity is way better ..hmmm..and in 01,naomi watts should be nominated in mullholand drive and please put away halle berry..judy dench is over the top in "irish"
Beautiful video. Really fantastic idea with all the best acresses in a leading role. Kathy Bates, Meryl Streep, Faye Dunaway, Sissy Spacek, Sally Field, Jane Fonda and the others acresses are great movie legends.
From Kate Winslet:..."I have to acknowledge my fellow nominees, these goddesses. My God, we all can't believe we are in the same contest as Meryl Streep. I am sorry, Meryl, but i think you just have to suck up to that."
The admission from Winslet is loud and crystal clear -- MERYL STREEP IS THE GREATEST ACTRESS OF ALL TIME!
Katherine Hepburn, Bette Davis, and Meryl Streep have by far the most Oscar nominations, and they are also the finest actresses of all time (I cannot even imagine who could play any of Bette Davis's roles today -- maybe Cate Blanchett?).

I was getting sad as I read all those death dates in the beginning of this video... But it was a sudden joy to me to realize that all those actresses, Bette Vivien Katharine Anna will remain in the best things you made during your wonderful lives... your art will live forever, for you and for us...
PS: hope that Meryl will win her third Oscar soon, she deserved it so many times...
jennifer aniston sur holly hunter!!! nan mais je reve!! comment on peut faire une aussi grossière erreur sur une aussi belle video!!! En tout cas merci pour ce moment de poesie, j'adore!!!
I don't think Bette Davis was robbed any of the times she lost, people say she was for "All About Eve" but to me, Gloria Swanson should've won that year for "Sunset Boulevard", a case of having three very strong frontrunners and they all canceled each other out and the weakest link ended up winning, definitely the biggest crime in this category.
I would've wanted her to win for "Baby Jane" but one can't deny Bancroft's amazing performance in "The Miracle Worker".
i want to be sure there is no misunderstanding! i'm not talking about the utube video, i love this, i watch it all the time!! i just think that, for example, the oscars could be better than julia robert sayin:" ok!, she was a great actress, and we remember her coz she wearing pants in the 30'!!" Of course i'm excessive, but...:-)))
I thought Julia Roberts did a fine job with the Hepburn tribute, the audience wasn't really into it as she was though. They have the tribute on youtube.
She deserved every single Oscar she got. Of course, the critics and "historians" will come up with whatever excuse or justification made from preference that makes them sleep at night, but Kate Hepburn deserved every Oscar she got, from her first to her last and every nomination in between.
Watch that movie again, this time, take away your personal preference, take away what you think you know about acting in film, take away what you know about film, take away what you know about acting, and watch the movie for art's sake. Kate executes her art very well, so well, in fact, that she deserved an award for it.
No, still I don't think she was worthy. Anyone else could have played that just as well-and besides, who even remebers her performance, let alone the film itself? Everyone remembers Bancroft's "Mrs. Robinson" and Dunaway's "Bonnie Parker" one of the two should have won.
But, in this very discussion, we are remembering all three, including Kate's. Besides, I would have voted for Kate than Bancroft's cougar and Dunaway's criminal anyway.
Ok, I swear (really it wasn't a mistake) IMDB used to have the date of her death. Maybe it was a flase rumor, but I still remember the day I went there and saw she died....but I'm happy she's still with us :-)
Times just change. I don't believe they look "less glamorous", per se. There are just different fashions and more diverse films/performances with each passing decade.
I agree with these awards except for 1986 where Sigourney Weaver was ignored. She deserved the Oscar for her marvellous work in Aliens

Kat Hepburn didn't deserve the Oscar for "GWCTD" for 1967. She beat out the others who were better than her. She only got it because Tracy died.
