I had the older version and it didn't like 147 grn. ammo. Plus the frame was slightly warped and the mag wouldn't drop freely. I like to get the new version though, Rugers are overbuilt and tough firearms.
i love when people blame Obama for ammo shortages. It's not his fault people panicked and bought up all the ammo they could afford. The power to regulate firearms and make laws rests with the Legislative branch (the house and Senate) not the Executive branch. Stop whining (it resolves nothing), Write your legislators, Vote, and take a civics class... [Before you flame me know that I am a political science major and have no political preference]
can someone help me out? ... ok i got a ruger p95 9mm and every time iv gone and shot it it jams some time like 2 or 3 time on the same mag another thing is when all the rounds are shot though it some times the slide will look back ans ather timesit wont can some tell me what to do cos iv had the moss problems with this gun.
@sardorn i actually had some similar problems my self. it turned out to be the extracter getting stuck between the slide and the mag causing the jam. it messed up my slide a little too but it just needed to be bent over to the right about a mm or two and down one mm. that should do it for you. other than that it has fired with out a prob.
My P95 can kill you just as quickly as my Colt 1911 .45 acp or my S&W M&P .40. I would NOT want to be on the recieving end of it especially with the PlusP hollow point ammo most people, like me, are using now. In fact when I have to go out somewhere I take my Taurus .357 617SS2 7 shot revolver but if I didn't have it my P95 would be my first choice ! Seriously though, I take it with me everywhere because of the relentless firepower it can deliver quickly with the nasty ammo loads I carry.
I carry it concealed when on duty undercover & I run my P-95 in IDPA competitions with a hogue grip sleeve I've added on to it. Never one failure over 3,000 + rounds. It's funny to see high end pistols that have problems in the heat of battle. If you want a gun that goes bang everytime and shoots where you aim, this is it. It is a big heavy gun, so If you have small girly hands you better stick with a glock.
@Vicb1 It probably is the reloads. I prefer NOT to use them because you're depending on the amateur that's doing the reloading rather than the professional that sells NEW ammo.My P95 hasn't jammed 1 time in years, i haven't ever used reloads.
Just purchased the KP95 at my local Gun Show yesterday, got it for $320 brand new out the door. This is my first ever firearm but i think it will serve me well for years to come.
I've owned 2 P95's, one when they first came out in the mid 90's, that was a great gun, never any problems, but the second one I bought a couple years ago and had nothing but problems with it, it would jam every at least once with every magazine and many different kinds of ammo, I used to be a HUGE Ruger fan, but now I wouldn't buy one of their auto's for half price. Hope you guys have better luck with your 95s than I did mine.
Just bought a p95pr myself n it is a great gun! I love it. Haven't fired too many rounds through it but what I did shoot was excellent no malfunctions or jams whatsoever. I didn't shoot mine right out of the box I cleaned it first, definitely a good idea to do this.
I bought one of these myself and I'm very impressed with it. I got it for $325 brand new. First day I took it out to the range it jammed on me a couple of times, but then i realized that the range had sold me reload 9mm FMJ 115 Grain. (Garbage). I went and bought American Eagle 147 Grain FMJ and shooting was flawless. Fantastic gun for the price, just make sure you get good ammo.
Here in CA they're the same $30 for 100 rounds before the ammo shortage it was only $18-$20 for a box of 100. I havent been able to find a box in months
ya i bought mine for around 300 brand new and its just great i love it i went to the gun store for a glock 19 and it was already sold so i went with the ruger p95 and im pleased with they r great guns no problems with thim what so ever nice vid man
that open carry law makes a lot of sense. who's going to try and victimize somebody when there are civilians walking around with holstered pistols in plain sight?
Most people are unaware that these have fully supported chambers so reloads are NOT a problem. I also own Glock, Sig, H&K...but the Rugers truely are a awesome weapon at a great price! Ruger got screwed when the US military shafted them after they built exactly what they asked for.
I bought a P95DC back in January and I've probably put 800 rounds through it already, it jammed one time cus I probably only cleaned it every like 3rd time I shot it...lazy I know, but the gun is awesome
I agree. I have the P95. I ALSO have 3 discontinued P97's .45 acp. One is NIB, never fired except once at the factory. Why they discontinued these beautiful .45's is beyond me. The 9mm P95 is great. It will outlive you. Thanks. JAMES.
usually most officers will have you place your hands on your head and they will take the pistol out and make sure its indeed unloaded. the only issue I have noticed is some think the law says you cant have loaded magazines, however that is false
i live in florida and it isnt hard to get ammo you can stop at walmart and get ammo, u can stop at dicks sporting goods, a gun range and alot of other places
that interesting because my brother lives in lakeland and it really isnt hard to get ammo and guns here its fairly easy actually especially if u have a concealed weapons permit and if u have one u can buy a gu
yea i know my freind has been getting a shitload of guns lately, like 3 or 4 in the last 2 months, but he said ammo was hard to find, that is interesting lol
I'm curious, do you have to be 21 to open carry, and what do you do if you're approached by law enforcement? I live in KY, which I think is another open-carry state, but most people probably don't research the gun laws and will panic if they see anyone but a cop walking around with it. Any thoughts?
I know for a fact it is not illegal to own an automatic pistol if you are under 21, you however cannot buy one or ammo until you are 21. i believe since arizona is a gold star open carry state, as long as it is holstered and in plain sight you can carry a pistol, but as stated earlier if you are under 21, ammo and such will be a difficulty.
jus sold mine for $180,liked it alot but a p89 stainless pair($350 total)wouldve been bought up if i didnt sell.i like the black model more though so that is what i will have to find(stores in dallas only have stainless)
arizona is an open carrying state I didnt know that for a ccw carrier. thanks, great vid, ive always wanted a ruger p95 what the value and is their a difference at gun shows ?
You're right! A great gun and a true bargain. I have one and I love it. I would recommend one to anyone looking for a quality weapon - and they're made in the U.S.A!
i'm from AZ and i also got my ruger p95 from lone wolf..... i regret saleing it, it is a really nice gun but built like a tank.. have fun with it and be safe
I have one also, paid 325 for mine but they can be had cheaper still I hear. For those considering, ive shot Sig 226's, Glock 23, Sig P6, every bit as accurate, easy to clean.. love mine too
Just bought mine brand new for $299, included case and 2 clips.

Very accurate and easy to clean ( watched video on youtube) A very good handgun at an exceptional price. i'd recommend it to anybody.

you may risk being charged with ( Inducing panic )
do some extensive research for YOUR state before you attempt to open carry...so you avoid any criminal charges.

I'm sure it's a fine gun for HD; for carry, that would be another matter. It looks heavy, as many Rugers are...
But I don't recommend a handgun for HD. My .357 Magnum is under the bed as my secondary HD weapon; my suggestion for HD naturally is a shotgun.
