And may I remind you that he played behind HOFer Scott Stevens and future HOFer Scott Niedermayer and has won nothing since they left. yea, that one works great, I also use a variation of that, as you move post to post drag your stick at a angle & catch a skate blade as you go, as soon as you feel that tug on your stick let go of it, a falling stick seems to get a refs attention for some reason. You can use it moving both ways but it works best if you're going stick to glove side, much more visible. All this aside, I was actually talking about the "Cup Tap", threaten the "jewels" & they will move.
yea this is one of those "tricks" that is usually left in the bag as a last resort. I've been playing goal for over 20 years now & I've only used it twice, both during a PK with the game on the line, not proud of it or anything, it just worked at the time.
BTW, if you had someone doing to you what Avery was doing to Marty in the playoffs last year, how would you have handled the incident? Me, I would have flipped & beat the hell out of him. That was just plain rude.

good goalie, not as good as Luango though. Anyone will look good playing for a trapping team, thats why when he was gone with his arm injury the team still prevailed, devils goalies dont work as hard as the rest of the goalies in the league, especially in the late 90's when NJ games were just a trap fest.

I always used to think that Hasek was the best ever, but if you compare him, he does'nt seem as natural as all the others, and you can't really be amazed by his saves, because they don't look as good, even though they are.
I agree that Brodeur is an unbelievable goaltender, but people like Dryden, Hasek, Roy and Belfour stop him from being the best Goalie ever. Also, he didn't pioneer any movements in Goaltending eg: Roy and Belfour were the first proper Butterfly Goaltenders and Hasek was the first Hybrid Goaltender.
Having said that, there are some INCREDIBLE saves in this video.
Yes but Roy is the first really defined Butterfly goaltender, and I think that Belfour was also there at that time. Glenn Hall's 'Butterfly' technique was not defined, but was simply a flopping technique different to others. I grant you it isn't real flopping, but its basically the same principle. If you look at Roy as he walks, he has something wrong with his hips. That shows what Butterfly does to you. Hybrid is clearly the best technique.
Roy and goaltending coach Francois Allaire pioneered the butterfly style we see today in the NHL while Roy was a Canadien. Ed Belfour was not even in the league at that time, and his style changed significantly by the time he was with the Dallas Stars and experiencing success. As far as injury problems go, it has more to do with the equipment of the time not being made to perform the moves Roy was making. Roy's work with Michel Lefevre and Koho is why future goalies won't deal with this problem.
Brodeur hasn't patented a style because he's the only goalie to ever have his unique style. It's a combination of agility and puck handling. No one in the history of the game has been able to handle the puck like he can. The best of all time.
You say this, and yet when described by critics, they name his style as beng hybrid. I would liken it to Dominik Hasek's, not in movement but in mentality, meaning that he stops the puck in any way he can. Surely that is the definition of a Hybrid Goaltender.

Get over it, the Vezina is a popularity contest, end of story. Luongo was robbed a couple years ago, Roy was robbed by Jose Theodore in '02, no one cares. And Roy did not have an amazing team in Montreal. They were mediocre teams. Christ, they weren't even supposed to get out of the 1st round in '93. And you're only partly right about Roy's stats with MTL. He won 27 more games there than with COL, but he had more shutouts and playoff wins and shutouts with COL. Do your homework, shithead.

Brodeur is not even close to the greatest player ever (Gretzky) and is only arguable as the best goalie ever. Personally, I don't put him ahead of Roy, Sawchuk, Plante, Dryden, and Glenn Hall, but you Devils fans seem to have a complete lack of understanding of who those people even are. And may I remind you that he played behind HOFer Scott Stevens and future HOFer Scott Niedermayer and has won nothing since they left. They also finished 2nd in scoring in 99, 2nd in 00, and FIRST in 2001.

As a goaltender myself I can say that you're only allowed to push a player when you don't get caught doing it ... lol ... the "Blue Ice" is MINE ... enter at your own risk ... If there's a real goaltender out there that doesn't agree with that statement turn in your pads ...

yea, that one works great, I also use a variation of that, as you move post to post drag your stick at a angle & catch a skate blade as you go, as soon as you feel that tug on your stick let go of it, a falling stick seems to get a refs attention for some reason. You can use it moving both ways but it works best if you're going stick to glove side, much more visible. All this aside, I was actually talking about the "Cup Tap", threaten the "jewels" & they will move.

yea this is one of those "tricks" that is usually left in the bag as a last resort. I've been playing goal for over 20 years now & I've only used it twice, both during a PK with the game on the line, not proud of it or anything, it just worked at the time.
BTW, if you had someone doing to you what Avery was doing to Marty in the playoffs last year, how would you have handled the incident? Me, I would have flipped & beat the hell out of him. That was just plain rude.

Just so you know, I'm not the Billy Smith wannabe that I may sound like. Yes, I am very intense when I'm on the ice, my sole focus is stopping the puck. It does get me in trouble from time to time but hey ... there's still room in the game for a little "Ole time Hockey" don't you think?
BTW, did you see that tic-tac-toe goal in gm 4 tonight? I think it was Kennedy and Crosby. Poor Ozzie man, after that went in he had to be like WTF was that ... lol ...

I'm a Sabres fan so I really don't have a pick for this although I am a Steelers & it would be nice to see Pens win for a two championship year, you know the Pirates ain't gonna make it 3 ... lol ... if not for Ozzie the Pens would have really blown them out last night, both him and Fluery stood on their heads last night, the Wings didn't have a very good game, a ton of mental mistakes. The schedule the NHL is using for the finals makes me sick, going for TV ratings not great games. Idiots ..

yea i know what you mean but im a devils fan so it would be a bad idea to root for a team in the same division. yea i would have liked to see the bruins or canes cuz i thought they both had good seasons but the pens just had a good run during the playoffs and it turned in the best way for them. yea but every sport is out there for the ratings and if they wanted better ratings they should have put the game on another channel

good goalie, not as good as Luango though. Anyone will look good playing for a trapping team, thats why when he was gone with his arm injury the team still prevailed, devils goalies dont work as hard as the rest of the goalies in the league, especially in the late 90's when NJ games were just a trap fest.

I always used to think that Hasek was the best ever, but if you compare him, he does'nt seem as natural as all the others, and you can't really be amazed by his saves, because they don't look as good, even though they are.

I agree that Brodeur is an unbelievable goaltender, but people like Dryden, Hasek, Roy and Belfour stop him from being the best Goalie ever. Also, he didn't pioneer any movements in Goaltending eg: Roy and Belfour were the first proper Butterfly Goaltenders and Hasek was the first Hybrid Goaltender.
Having said that, there are some INCREDIBLE saves in this video.

Yes but Roy is the first really defined Butterfly goaltender, and I think that Belfour was also there at that time. Glenn Hall's 'Butterfly' technique was not defined, but was simply a flopping technique different to others. I grant you it isn't real flopping, but its basically the same principle. If you look at Roy as he walks, he has something wrong with his hips. That shows what Butterfly does to you. Hybrid is clearly the best technique.

Roy and goaltending coach Francois Allaire pioneered the butterfly style we see today in the NHL while Roy was a Canadien. Ed Belfour was not even in the league at that time, and his style changed significantly by the time he was with the Dallas Stars and experiencing success. As far as injury problems go, it has more to do with the equipment of the time not being made to perform the moves Roy was making. Roy's work with Michel Lefevre and Koho is why future goalies won't deal with this problem.

Brodeur hasn't patented a style because he's the only goalie to ever have his unique style. It's a combination of agility and puck handling. No one in the history of the game has been able to handle the puck like he can. The best of all time.

You say this, and yet when described by critics, they name his style as beng hybrid. I would liken it to Dominik Hasek's, not in movement but in mentality, meaning that he stops the puck in any way he can. Surely that is the definition of a Hybrid Goaltender.
