I'm perfectly content with my case ,but I love watching your reviews because they are well done. As for this case, that top angled fan is just a terrible idea on an otherwise awesome case. Have the engineers at Fractal Design seen today's CPU heatsinks?
@N1mro8 If you know how to mod the case then it can become good for watercooling. The angled 180mm fan can easily be removed, and 3 120mm fan holes can be cut out in the top so you can mount a radiator + fans (I think it will cost you the top 5.25 bay). You can put a grill on the top to make it look nice. If you drill out the rivets from the 2 bottom hdd-cages, and cut out holes for 2x120mm fans in the bottom of the side panel, you have for a 2x120mm radiator.
Only reason to buy this case is for like a workstation or server with lots of HDDs, and even then the R3 is cheaper, smaller, and better at this job unless you need more than 8 HDDs, which almost nobody does.
IMO "silence for video game" or "complete silence" is a bit overrated and overexaggerated. This over exaggeration causes case designers to sacrifice aesthethic for such a feature. TBH, I'd prefer some sound... just to have that much more psychological connection to my MegaArmored Battlestation, aside from the look and the feel, the sound should be there aso.
With the exception of the top mounted fan, this case is a major triumph for those of us who demand pure silence from our gaming chassis. It also possesses a naturally elegant exterior.
Mod potential but Fractal Design really dropped the ball on this one. It's obvious they didn't test a system in it before they started mass producing.
This is a pretty old case its only revision was that of the 3.0USB and it has been release early 2011. If I believe because I bought this case mid last year. The problems that HWC outlined is the exact problems I am encountering now..
I dont know what Fractal is thinking, but I think they need to hire new design staff. A case this large, and no watercooling. Who would ever buy this case, the the Antec P280 and the New Corsair 550D both support 240mm rad and be silent too.
Sorry Fractal, your digging your own grave this time. I think you should just scrap this case before you release it.
Since when was a thumbscrew not tool-less? They better that a cheap plastic button. How many times do you switch out an optical drive anyways? I do agree it's a major flub with the 8-pin though.
this chassis sucks chef's big black salty balls ;-)

tobad, it looks very good. I'm in search for such a case but is also good enough for internal watercooling! Does some one have an idea?

@N1mro8 Try to search on google, I have seen forum threads about watercooling mods on this case.

No option to mount a radiator (or fans) at the top... too bad

It isn't really a bad case, its just not geared towards gamers. Its a server case, and nothing more.
