For a movie near 20 years old for me the IT technology doesn’t come over as dated (except for bulky PC Monitors & Non Windows screens!) Different & futuristic with Virtual Reality and we don’t see much of it these days right? (2012)

Someone said its way too difficult to access files but if they’re confidential Company files, it should be difficult and maybe more realistic to have to go through an imaginary Company Vault instead of just @ the click of a mouse!

regarding the vr things, this movie is super visionary.

and of course, its not -necessary- just to open some files.

nothing is realy necessary, except maybe a good knife and a flintstone.

but the future will come,.. and maybe it does come handy to virtualy meet people without being bound to a specific location.. or being limited by gender, race, age, appearance etc..

we will see.. i like the future so far.

The way the scene materializes is not very efficient and would be very disconcerting, not to mention it would use up extra processing cycles to animate. Surely simulating a light fog, and rendering the view in that way would be more natural?

Yeah, but this was late 90's ILM. They were most likely working on four other movies at the same time, so they didn't have a whole lot of resources.
