I've been obsessed with the Joker's makeup ever since the Dark Knight came out, and in the hours of tutorials I've watched, NO ONE else managed to describe and capture the details that you did. Thank you so much for putting this on YouTube. I can't wait to finally transform my boyfriend into the Joker this Halloween!

There are a lot of other great tutorials, but many were focused on using the same application techniques as they used for the movie, with just haphazardly rubbing the makeup on. I wanted to create something that looked like you put on a Heath Ledger as The Joker mask, so I hope I did that! I hope you guys have a great Halloween!

@xxMCRvenomxx That's fine, Josh's tutorial was awesome. His is interesting because it is the actual "method" Heath Ledger used of just rubbing the makeup on. I was going for trying to make your face look like the makeup on Heath Ledger's face. We had two totally different approaches.

2: Imo i though the end dark on the lips was worse than just the red. But nice job! Wish you did my heloween makeup haha!

yeah the red was probably a lot more "authentic" looking to the movie, definitely. i like making things super scary and the black upclose makes it look really dirty and the scars look more realistic. it looks super gross!

and yeah the mad thing is funny! it really is the lines in between the eyes, they make anyone look angry lol!

josh's tutorial is terrific. i did mine based off of the photos that were released before the movie, so mine is very "neat" and he did the crazy, deconstructed look from the end of the movie. very cool.

the way that heath ledger applied his own makeup was easy, yes, he literally just rubbed it on. but we don't have his face so i had to recreate the lines in his face to make it look like it is literally him. for the actual scars, you can just buy glue-on ones to make it easier or leave them out all together.

the first time i did this it was before the movie came out, so all i had were stills and photos to go from. i noticed that in the movie, it is a lot more messy, especially towards the end where his makeup is literally just smears. petrilude has a tutorial for the more broken down/smeared version.

The wax part is a little bit tricky, but you can buy already made "scars" and just put them on and paint over them. petrilude has a great tutorial that is a little easier to do :)

How did you put on the grey? in the creases of your face?

The creases of my face were created by scrunching up my face while I put the white on, that way the white didn't get into the creases. Then, I took a clean little stiff brush to flake away some of the white (the acrylic paint will flake off if you rub it) to add more creases like under the black on my eyes. Then to deepen the creases I took a small brush with black or gray powdered eyeshadow on it and just went over the creases.
