jacob's the man!! hell of a nice guy too, very modest and approachable. was glad to see him win, particuarly as he had the balls to run from the front despite the wind.
@ dchartier1 hey, dude. ever heard of STRATEGY? its all the RAVE in track and field so ive heard. you see, RACING is all about who can cross the FINISH LINE FIRST which is DIRECTLY RELATED to FAST TIMES. i cant recall anyone who won the olympics in the 800 with a 2:15. you see, the FRONTRUNNERS sometimes get TIRED when the adrenaline WEARS OFF. no one can run an easy race and win with a time like that
ps. youre basically arguing that kicking in a race is cheating.

Wheating is always running CHICKEN SH*T races! He always just SITS BACK and waits to kick at the end to STEAL THE RACE from the guy who DOES THE WORK. He did that in the Olympic Trials, he did that in the '09 NCAA indoors, and he did that here. Plus he always tries to OUTLEAN the other guys at the finish which is CHEATING because he's so TALL. I'm glad he didn't GET ANYWHERE in the Olympics. Jacob Hernandez is a WAY MORE TALENTED RUNNER. I'm glad he beat Wheating!
Son, I can tell that you're a proud supporter of Pre from your first sentence, but to say you're glad you're glad he didn't get anywhere in the Olympics is idiotic; he represents us all when he puts on that USA uniform, so to the world, you and I went nowhere as well.
Good point, anuJeD09, but it's still CHICKEN SH*T racing. Maybe he'd GET SOMEWHERE in the HALF-MILE if he TOOK IT OUT straight from the GUN and left NOTHING on the track.
uhhh Wheating SMASHES on Hernandez. Hernandez was incredibly lucky to win that race. last time I checked...winning the race means getting the best time. had Wheating made his kick one second earlier, he would have dominated Hernandez.. it's okay though...Wheating learned and now dominates everyone. you're just a chicken shit jealous hater. its called smart running.

And WHO won the 2009 NCAA 800 Indoors? WHEATING? Nooooooooo, it was HERNANDEZ! Wheating's CHICKEN SH*T tactics DIDN'T WORK at the 2008 NCAA Outdoors, and it DIDN'T WORK at the 2009 NCAA Indoors. It's DISGUSTING that an OLYMPIAN pulls these COWARDLY STUNTS in COLLEGE races. At least Hernandez runs BALLS TO THE WALL in EVERY race and will reach his FULL POTENTIAL. If Wheating sticks with this MONKEY BUSINESS, he'll NEVER GET ANYWHERE!
@dchartier1 Worked @ 2009 outdoors. And Wheating runs from behind because that's just his strategy. He prefers to and it does work for him most of the time.
@dchartier1 Not true. There have been plenty of winners that came from behind on the international championship level.
Dave Wottle, Borzakovsky (spelled wrong i know), etc.
Who knows if he will be able to do that? Nobody yet he's only made it to the first round of the olympics. We can only sit and watch to see if he will be successful.
@injendc4 thats true. but you also have to take into account that Wheating has barely raced all season. and one of the races he was beaten in was his first outdoor race of the season.
you gotta think at the championships he'll be in race shape. and on his home track. if the race is in the 1:47 or 1:48 range, Andrews has a chance. but if Wheating goes all out and runs in the 1:46 range i don't think Andrews stands a chance. in a year, maybe.
@eKriZZLe while wheating is obviously FAR superior to hernandez now (hernandez has slipped a little too), the next year jacob beat wheating again indoors so he did prove it was no fluke. While Jacob was perhaps a touch lucky to hold on, he showed some initiative and made it count, and ran the best judged race.
umm 400 hurdles is a tuff race! i do it in high school, and its pretty tuff! the 800 is also a physically demanding race! ive done it also in heptaths, and its HARD! and draining. i personally love hurdling os id choose hurdling any distance over the 800 or even the 400!

You spelled where wrong. How can I be scared about something that does not show proper capitilization, punctuation, and spelling. And by the way, it seems that in all of these NCAA finals, the front runner always wins. That's pretty contrary to the belief that the drafters, or chase pack always wins.
Win state in high school, and people might care. Although, even high school doesn't mean much. So runners are late bloomers, where has some fast runners at oyung ages don't improve much. Keep that in mind before you try to brag.
Actaully most track folks disagree about the toughest event. 400m iH, 800m, and Pole Vault (because it's so technically demanding) seem to be the top three when the topic does come up though.
well also we are looking at the 800m race. so of course people who want to see the 800m are gonna say its hardest. No track races are 'easy'. I used to run track in high school and in college (division 1). And most of agreed 400is hardest. I imagine 400iH would be even harder i suppose. You don't run two 400's at near top speed at all.. look at the lap splits. it's considerably off.
you really can't say which race is the hardest overall because it depends on the person and how their muscles react to different races..for me I'd much rather race 2 800's back to back than race a 8k/10k and I' much rather run 400's over 800's

400 hurdles is just not quite long enough to be the toughest event. Not enough suffering. 800 on the other hand, pure torture.

i disagree, even though i run the 800, jumping for 400 meters looks like a pain. Im pretty sure its more tiring but the 800 requires more stamina

announcer says 800m is hardest. Most track folks agree that 400m is the hardest race. Not saying 800m is easy by any means of course..
kld34 3 years ago
I would disagree, in the 800 you basically run 2 400s at near top 400 speed back to back. It hurts more than any 400 I've done.
