i did my school work experiance on the railway that rebuilt her so i did my bit to put it back together (ok it was only the bearings for the reversing rod) but still its great to see her back in steam and looking new
And I bet THAT was the highest number of coaches (and all of them full) that a train has had since Beecham banned steam engines 40 years ago. Modern Railways should take note !!
@TrainBusJaguar Perhaps he should add 'longest successfully hauled train' hehe. I'm impressed she managed to get out unassisted with relative ease. The A4s were very prone to slipping at York back in the day. I've just read an account where it took a pacific driver about 7 or 8 minutes to get the train moving on a wet and oily rail, with a heavy load.
She is working the coronation to commemorate the anniversary of mallards record breaking run. it was kings cross-edinburgh on the saturday and edinburgh-kings cross on sunday.
I will be rideing out of Kings Cross next month behind this steam engine it will be my first look at UK steam being from the US

13 coaches, yeh that's pretty long, but I hear a few years back they gave Flying Scotsman 15 on the Scarborough Spa Express and they broke the loco!

I was at the railway museum where Bittern was before she left for London x I've uploaded a video of all the A4's there if you're interested.
