I think its proberly the Bernhard Etté orchestra on the German Kristall label, and

indeed, this must be Kurt Mülhardt who is singing...!

Absolutely correct! It is him arriving in New York... Very perceptive of you Daniel. Thanks for the info regarding orchestra and singer. Although I like this song very much, I am generally underwhelmed by the technical and playback quality of the Kristall/Cristall(French) label...
