  • The Cameo came in baseline 235 straight 6cylinder engine. In 1955-57, the 265 V-8 was offered as an option. The 283 V-8 was available as an option in 1958 only. As far as the Corvette line went: the 265 V-8 was available in 1955! The body style changed in 56.

  • @panheadron1 Yes, thanks for your info. I appreciate this very much.

  • i know3 of an original cameo thats feild fresh in town, im buying it for 2K once i get a job.

  • @smithkid1996 Great! I hope you get a good job soon. How exciting to find a field fresh Cameo to buy and fix up. Best of luck to you and thanks for viewing this Cameo.

  • @55lincoln yeah, it will stay looking field fresh for a wile (probably 6-12 months) because im only 15, so im not going to get a high paying job. just the paint for that is over 900 bucks, just for the paints. (im doing all of it my self.)

  • @smithkid1996 I always thrilled to realize that younger people like yourself are interested in older cars and trucks and will contribute to the car hobby in years to come. I am really proud of you for wanting to buy and restore this Cameo. I guess you know how rare these pickups are. So again I say, good luck and hope you reach your goals. You sound very determined to do this. Don't give up.

  • @55lincoln i know they are rare, but im going to be honest, i have been building cars forever, and i see that as something to make money with more then anything. i LOVE those trucks, but if i get the right offer, im asking for a ride home...

  • @smithkid1996 If you have been working on cars forever then you a prime and talented to take on a restoration like this. Plus, you have the skills needed to last a lifetime. I'm glad you have an interest in automotive work for such a young person. You will go far. I love those trucks too. Again, good luck and thanks very much for sharing your story.

  • Im a chevy guy through and through...I love their full size Trucks and Corvettes...it seems that they put a little more attention in these products than any other vehicle they make...at least it seems that way

  • @vettelover2009 Chevy trucks have such style. And Corvettes.........well what can I say about Vettes that hasn't been said already. They are in a class all by themselves. I have had 4 Chevys and love each and every one of them.

  • these are by far the best looking trucks GM ever made...funny thing about the bed though...it was a standard stepside bed with fiberglass bedsides...neer understood why they didn't make it a full width bed.

  • @vettelover2009 Perhaps the " standard " pickup design was to always have the fenders outside the body as had been with cars for years. Since this Cameo was a groundbreaking design for trucks no thought was given to the wheelwells inside the bed. That came later. But you are right! This is the best looking truck GM ever made. Thanks for your comment.

  • @55lincoln this truck was also GM's second use of fiberglass in a mass production vehicle...unfortunately neither did well until 1956...when the corvette changed its look and got a more powerful v-8...the second event was the 59 fleetside bow in and the fiberglass bedsides disappeared...that is until the fiberglass bedsides of the GMT400 sportside trucks came along...

  • @vettelover2009 You are correct on all points. Actually glad the Vette changed for the better. I'm glad you contributed to this video and brought up some great points.

  • Good decision by GM to stylize pickup trucks. This is very cool.

  • @historybuffish Very good idea and stylized trucks are finally cool..
