I feel like the breast feeding provision is very fair, as well as the jungle gym.... physical activity structured by the government would promote healthier life styles and lessen medical needs. Breast feeding breaks on the job in the first year of parenting also seems like a basic right... why doesn't Jason Mattera pick a better fight?

I'll answer your big question, Jason Mattera. First of all, you showed us the part of the bill that talked about kids getting exercise - you did NOT show us the part that said $7 billion. Second of all, much of the Obamacare bill deals with proactive measures - if we can PREVENT health problems, we can greatly reduce the price of healthcare. If kids are out there running and are being breast-fed, then kids WILL be healthier, FEWER kids will be rushed to emergency rooms and sucking the juice out
of insurance companies, and the overall cost of healthcare goes down. These measures are scientifically proven to improve the health of children - and it is absolutely the right of the government to try to improve health and, ultimately, reduce the cost of healthcare, one jungle gym at a time. To those who say the local and state governments should do this - yes, perhaps they should, but the fact is that they HAVEN'T and we now have one of the worst health systems in the world.

There is a tax yes, but the tax collected goes towards paying for those people who go into the emergency room without insurance, which helps lower costs because those people have to be paid for and its the people with insurance that have been paying it.

It sounds as if Mattera is not that concerned about the obesity epidemic in plague this country. He implicitly contends that there should not be any intervention in the public schools to increase physical activity among students. One way to increase physical activity is to provide opportunities that will motivate students to engage in physical activities (rather than having them arbitrarily run around a race track). which include jungle gyms.
But I know, I must be one of those "Obama zombies," who would never, ever disagree with Obama. One has to laugh when Mattera pretends he was a harsh critic of Bush's policies.

I feel like the breast feeding provision is very fair, as well as the jungle gym.... physical activity structured by the government would promote healthier life styles and lessen medical needs. Breast feeding breaks on the job in the first year of parenting also seems like a basic right... why doesn't Jason Mattera pick a better fight?

I'll answer your big question, Jason Mattera. First of all, you showed us the part of the bill that talked about kids getting exercise - you did NOT show us the part that said $7 billion. Second of all, much of the Obamacare bill deals with proactive measures - if we can PREVENT health problems, we can greatly reduce the price of healthcare. If kids are out there running and are being breast-fed, then kids WILL be healthier, FEWER kids will be rushed to emergency rooms and sucking the juice out

There is a tax yes, but the tax collected goes towards paying for those people who go into the emergency room without insurance, which helps lower costs because those people have to be paid for and its the people with insurance that have been paying it.

That bill was 2000+ pages. That's like reading a book and getting asked what kind of wood the table was made out of on page 136. I hope they do find that part of forcing people to buy it unconstitutional, I just find this guy to be a giant douche.

Teachers don't write tests and then ask the students what color of shirt was the protaganist wearing as stated on page 67 of the book. That would be absurd and pointless. I'm a Conservative Republican, and I'd rather pay a private, for-profit health insurance company to cover me. My premiums & deductibles do keep going up, yet I am very proud to contribute toward an American company's bottom line and toward earning an American CEO a spot in the "World's Richest People" list. I just hope to not get one of those illnesses that will result in the company terminating my coverage. Bankruptcy is for sick losers. GO U.$.A.!

It sounds as if Mattera is not that concerned about the obesity epidemic in plague this country. He implicitly contends that there should not be any intervention in the public schools to increase physical activity among students. One way to increase physical activity is to provide opportunities that will motivate students to engage in physical activities (rather than having them arbitrarily run around a race track). which include jungle gyms.

@XMonsieurMeursaultX - While promoting physical activity in schools is one thing, -I think the issue here is that billions have been spent on Jungle Gyms under the "health care reform", -if this is such a dire issue that had to be passed right away, why isn't that funding going towards HEALTH CARE, not schools.
Not that it's a bad idea to promote more physical activity for children, I just think it's been done with a bait and switch manuever.

Jason, you need to allow sufficient time for these guys to answer your questions. I agree with what you're doing here, but you would be far more effective if you allow these guys to dig their own graves rather than pushing them to make a point of your own. Actually senator "Smalley" was right. It doesn't say "jungle gyms." You would have effectively made your point by mentioning that jungle gyms qualify under the provision.
