  • when i try to get into my account the say we need to vertify my account heck no dont do it

  • I deleted my main account, made a second dupe account a few weeks later, used to play some fb games from time to time. Now I want to delete the dupe account as well since I really do not need fb.

Guess what, I can't delete my fb account till I give them my phone number for "security" reasons. Is it just me or does this seem similar to the " patriot act"

  • @Nosferat23 spell out 1-666-fuc-kyou

  • dont give facebook or fuckin youtube your phone number - if you cant log in fuck it - its big brother trying to get all your details - dont be stupid - not worthi it

  • you can actually make it so your phone number isnt visible

  • @NinjaDinosaur52 Yeah but why give your phone number on fb anyway??

  • Do all of you think this is an ehtical issue?

  • That having access to pic thing...Google+ does it...sort of. If you allow it lol

  • I'm kinda surprised people are just realizing this...

  • They aren't visible to everyone. When you go to the edit friends, contacts, it's only your friends. I see nothing wrong with it. I'm 16 and that's a very useful thing because my friends and I are constantly loosing phone numbers in our phones for various reasons. Rather than make a group for the new phone numbers, like most of my friends, I just use the contact list.

  • lol i never used the phone number page

  • humancentiPAD

  • Those who have put pictures of themselves, your friends or videos etc that belongs to facebook . They say that if you leave they will delete your information - yeah right.

  • this chick should do modeling becuz shes cute

  • Zuckerberg you jewish freemason prick.

  • They were a little bit confused on that one. Actually, you can see your friends' numbers, but NOT the numbers of THEIR friend list. So only those you added to your friend list can see your number.

  • I left Facebook months ago because I tired of the lack of privacy. I highly recommend that everyone else do the same. Let 'em rot.

  • Incompetence. You fools should verify facts before you spread the lies. I run the app on two devices and the only numbers on my facebook account is people from facebook. In fact, the contact number on facebook for a couple people is different than on my phone.

I would look into why these people are attacking facebook. I bet there is a leftist agenda.

  • @ny1t You must not have checked. I did the last update and it imported all my phone contacts including people I do business with. I was not happy about it. To the point that I got a separate no frills phone for making calls.

  • @turboman8082 "the contact number on facebook for a couple people is different than on my phone."

I did check and there is over a hundred numbers in my phone and only about 20 on facebook. The only numbers in facebook are what my friends posted on their pages.

Maybe there is some feature you selected that asked if you wanted to sync contacts and you agreed to.

  • So Cenk likes sniffing coke

  • 11/5 remember remember. start chargin' your lasers

  • What's worse is, I'm a developer and have created Facebook applications. You would be fearfully suprised at the information I can get from Facebook from anyone without any authorization.

  • @draikentz

well that just proves their point

  • 0:05 FB is NOT publishing numbers. They're already made visible or you have synced them. -- 0:09 FB does NOT sync "If you have ever used the smartphone to download the FB app" -- 0:36 This information has been available for over a year. FB is being more transparent by creating that page -- 1:30 FB's statement is not false, I believe Ana misread it. Info is NOT shared with all, it's visible to YOU because of the reason 1 -- 2:17 You can't share others #s

  • @misterbenja Go away, Zuckerberg

  • Comment removed

  • Why's there an outrage? Technically people agreed to it by accepting the conditions. Not reading the conditions is the fault of the user..

  • Comment removed

  • I never consented for my number to be published and tried to hide it but cant find a way to do it. Well guess i have to deal with the mobile app for now.

  • I don't think people understand whats going on. I never agreed to sync my contacts or placed my number in facebook but my number has been published regardless thanks to agreeing to use the mobile app.

  • you dont want phone numbers on facebook

  • Facebook is Big Brother

  • This reminds me of that Southpark episode about the Human CentiPad

  • Don't be friends on facebook with people you aren't friends with IRL. Problems solved.

  • Do these guys allow corporations to invade your privacy on Facebook, EVEN when your profile has been mostly set to private?..... Even in Australia?

  • No shit. What did you think facebook would do.

  • Google+ HERE I COME!!!!!

  • @bigchicken24 google+ is having their own issues with privacy

  • Comment removed

  • no no you have to go and press sync and the names have to have the same name

  • Fuck Facebook I'm deactivating my account I'll use my Google plus instead

  • When people sign up for facebook, they become fair game to everything.

Got out of facebook, does not mean I'm out. What is on face, stays on facebok.

  • facebook keeps changing it site for no reason, and is always looking for ways to take more of u privacy

  • wrong, In contacted about 7 people whoose phone number comes on my facebook phonebook, they all voluntarily put their number of facebook and 3 of them dont even have smartphone

  • oh hell...i thought htis was a legitimate video....damn..it's just a YOUNG TURDS video..these guys suck!

  • Don't really care. As a process server I can find anything about you. Actually this has been useful. Emails have been available since the beginning. When I start getting cold calls then i'll care.

  • went to check if my number was on facebook..

    So glad it's not -_-

And i was thinking the anon attack on facebook maybe over the top

    Not anymore -_-

    GO GET EM ANON :3

  • Now I first noticed this last year and informed all of my Facebook friends and most of them didnt do anything about it. A few people erased their cell numbers but most didnt. The phone I have now (Sprint HTC Hero) actually initially added all of my Facebook contacts and their cell numbers to my phonebook.

  • I don't understand, what's the big deal? Your friends can see your cell number, so what? Don't add people you don't know IRL. I don't get why this is a problem.

  • actually this is wrong , and the facebook statement is very correct

  • Comment removed

  • If they can get your phone numbers they can get everything.

  • i dont get why someone would put their phonenumber on a social network anyway. im not even registered anywhere with my real, full name because i dont want anyone who knows my name to see who i am in contact with or on what photos i am visible

  • People are fucking stupid, facebook assumes you are smart

  • People get facebook to be connected. They post pictures and add hundreds of people...but then they complain about privacy issues.

People POST their own phone numbers? Still, people complain...even though you can hide it.

    I don't get people....

    What the fuck man.

  • No Jew can own Dr Ron Paul

  • I like Coke too. I wanna do some Coke with Cenk some time.

  • As usual, all the information that facebook 'publishes' is information you gave it. Here's a thought... stop giving it information.

  • This is why I don't do Friendspace, Twitterbook or LinkedIn+. You think you should lie on the internet? GODDAMN RIGHT!!!!

  • You damn drug addict Cenk!

  • I deleted my FB a few months ago. I haven't missed it since. I had classmates not friends :-). My lonely life.

  • This Bs

  • remember remember the 5th of november!

  • There are risks and benefits with every convenience. If you're so lazy that you need a special app so immediately use facebook instead of just going to the site, well this is the risk you take. 4:29 In order to have a reasonable expectation of privacy, one must make a reasonable attempt at privacy.

  • @53prime wow good point

  • @MrBobbillo thanks

  • im really enjoying the format of this clip.. cenk digging more details out of anna who is eloquent btw.. good stuff! my friends and i were curious about facebook and phone numbers

  • 5th of November = the end of Facebook...

  • Who cares?....The only people who freak out about this are people who think they're more important/popular than they actually are....No one gives a shit about your number....quit freaking out.

  • "I like Coke, which I do". Really Cenk? I knew you were for legalizing weed but damn.

  • To my knowledge, unless you choose to make your phone number available, it's not. Now, if you downloaded the Facebook app for your smart phone and it automatically added it to your own profile under your contact information, that I could see having a problem with, because even if they tell you in the "agreement"...fuck them and their lawyer bullshit. Otherwise, I think it's just people who were previously being irresponsible with their own information by leaving it public.

  • South Park episode-Centipad-Gotta read the fine print.

  • @ScottKnoxJr WHY HE WONT READ!!!!??? lol

  • did he just admit to liking coke @3:27? wonder who his supplier is lololol

  • …this has always been the case, you have and still do have the opportunity to make it private! Adding your phone number has ALWAYS been an option, along with keeping it private!

  • TYT is great, but usually only on political issues. When it comes to technology, these videos tend to make me facepalm.

  • If only all this data crunching actually gave better results than experienced business people making intuitive choices. Every bit of evidence I see, from the coupons printed on the back of my grocery receipt, to "suggested" videos from YT, argue against it.

Once I clicked thumbs-up on a funny video of two girls removing Biore Strips that were left on too long.

For 2yrs I had close-up videos of pimple popping suggested to me.

    SCIENCE!

  • Facebook statement IS Right! your mobile phone number is NOT visible to your friends by using a facebook app from your phone. Others can only see your phone number if you add it manually to your profile. what Anna is talking about is just a BACK-UP of your phone contacts, IT IS NOT VISIBLE TO OTHERS, AND IS GREAT IF YOU EVER LOSE YOUR PHONE.

  • I remember when this happened... It was when facebook starting allowing people to sync contact pics with the iPhone. It did take your Phone # and post it ONLY if you used the Android counterpart. My number wasnt published until i used the Android app (used the iPhone app beforehand). Plus, i just pulled mine back off on the browser version.

  • Just get google+ is you are worried

  • Anna, please never use that makeup again. the biggest controversy in this clip is the clownmakeup you gave yourself. please dont make that out of yourself. you have so much character so that if you wouldnt use any makeup at all i would still watch the videos only to hear your opinion on certain subjects :)

  • " You know my name! Look up the numba! You know my name! Look up the name! You, you know, you know my name!" - The Beatles

  • Oh my god... The whole world can get my phone number. All they have to do is look up my name in a book and anyone can call me! STOP THE PRESSES!

  • @pvpKevin from your dick? no thank you.

  • NOT TRUE........Facebook app ASKS you, the choice is yours, weather you sync or not is upto you......I know facebook is sad on privacy but this sync thing is stupid argument.....GUYS THINK.......PLEASE

  • Yawn............

  • Facebook didn't need to announce anything.. I think it was pretty obvious.

  • This is why warez apps are better than that free shit. Cause all the bad shit/nag screens/etc are hacked out. Don't get me wrong, warez/torrents/etc is highly prone to contain dangerous malware. Just gotta be wary about all your crap. Or just throw it out the window and live in a tree.

  • Why would I have a problem with my friends having my phone number? I think its very helpful.

  • Gee soon they will find some way to share peoples addresses, and put the release in some stupid fine print.

  • I just removed the Facebook app off my phone

  • @Saucypants1000 I don't think that will change that your number is visible.

  • sounds like human cent IPAD

  • It's always been like this... Get over it.. It's not a security issue. ... Not want your number to appear to your friends? Remove it.

  • Are they going for the FOX news job? I'm a fan of Cenk and Ana and love most of their videos but this one smacks of scaremongering based on half-truths.

  • yay..I got new people to Crank Call

  • Im getting tired of facebook. too many changes... dont like em.

  • How is this any difference from Phonebook? You look up someone`s name and you see their phone number.

  • @vegetta00 it's not...

  • Comment removed

  • @vegetta00 You can get your number removed from phonebook for 10000$

  • @vegetta00

It's all different with mobiles. You're not listed if you don't want to. And you can do more harm if you have someones mobile number, than you could do having their regular number. You should know that.

  • @vegetta00 Not if you are unlisted. Mobile phone numbers aren't published either.

  • @vegetta00 It's kinda different. Most people have cell phones, and phonebooks don't have cell phone numbers. Most people don't want their cell phone numbers given out.

  • @vegetta00

Because people can't search up people's demographics in a phonebook and cluster them all together in a notepad file...

  • @vegetta00 phonebooks dont have cell phone numbers -.-

  • @vegetta00 It's called you have a choice of putting your number in a phonebook....man you guys really don't know shit do you? You have a choice of putting your number on facebook as well, but sometimes they don't honor that choice and put it up anyway. It's called invasion of privacy due to morons working at the company that is doing the dumb shit. My problem is people are too stupid to either A) stay the fuck off facebook to remedy it, or B) stay the fuck off facebook to REMEDY IT!! dumb fucks.

  • @vegetta00 Not our cell phone numbers.

  • @vegetta00 It's different if you've got a hidden number for example.

  • no wonder anonymous wants to destroy them.

  • If you have a facebook & put your phone number, you deserve to have your information stolen for stupidity.

  • people are just lazy and they dont play around with the privacy settings enough to block their numbers, emails, photos ect. There are ways to block certain people on your lists without deleting them lol.

  • @Sexiigreenbeast I have a question lol. Can I block someone and they won't know I blocked them? Like if I block someone and they write on my page will they know I blocked them?

  • @gaylolful If you block someone, they can't look up your profile at all. You disappear to them.

  • @demomanchaos OHHHHHH lol thanks :)

  • @gaylolful yes, yes you can. go to privacy settings then click custom settings, then on the bottom right hand side it'll say customize settings with a blue pen thingy lol. Then you'll see a bunch of options on the screen such as posts by me family, friends ect. and if you keep choosing customize you can type the persons name in if you dont want that paticular person veiwing whatever you choose such as your photos or statu's =) Hope this hepled <3

  • I always use my Iphone facebook app I have never had my # shown... and I only see the numbers of friends who actually filled out the Facebook mobile section and made it visible to me...

I see there number on my contacts cause if I go on there page I see the number under "Info, mobile"

  • facebook is awesome . quit the bitching

  • Unfortunately Cenk, I disagree. If you keep violating people's privacy, they won't just say "I don't want to be here." Instead, they'll get used to it and it'll become just one more accepted and normalized violation of privacy.

  • Facebook - Determined to be an Ass.

  • Cenk, a phone number doesn't give you access to the information on your phone.

  • How is facebook crossing the line? They gave you freedom to customize your privacy. If you don't know how to enable certain features, then you're an idiot, not facebook's fault.

  • The problem occurs when someone hacks into a facebook account and gets to see all those phone numbers. It is possible to disable synching mobile phone contacts and Facebook if you're so concerned.

  • um hasn't everyone known about this forever

  • Overreaction ...

  • And they said I was crazy when I took one look at Zuckerberg and decided he was an ASSHOLE. You're payin' now fools.

  • @G58 He's paying all the way to the bank, Facebook is valued at $50 Billion!

  • @scorpionkings Transitory alleged net worth of a privately owned company. He's got to survive an IPO before the company has any acknowledged worth and even then it's subject to market forces. Then there's the shitstorm users will unleash if they carry on this stupid behaviour. Don't be too impressed by big numbers.

  • is the same like this

    southparkstudios -humancentipad-

  • Cenk is confused. He thinks the Facebook App will search the contacts on your phone and publish them. WTF... Don't post your number if you don't want it shared. I love this feature

  • The issue is more regarding the obviousness of the existence of certain aspects of the privacy options, since Facebook is used by so many people, there has to be rather easily understood options.

    .

Coming up, new field added in personal settings:

Enter bank code and card number: _ _ _ _

  • i never had my phone numebr on FB, but i just bought a smart phone and logged onto FB and now my number is there. i mean u can easily delete it, but I didnt know it was there until i watched this video lol

  • Cenk likes coke

  • LinkedIn does the same thing. I'd bet Google+ does too.

  • I NEVER SYNC ANY Application to my IPhone & My number was STILL there. SMFH . I can honestly say they did it w.o my permission.

  • Holy chiz..I'm getting an iPhone on sunday. Better be careful.

  • Facebook only does this if you tell Facebook it's cool to share it when you tell it your cell number.

  • You agreed!!!

  • OMG this is a dumb report

Yes you can see peoples contacts under edit friends

If you have uploaded it onto Facebook (by you typing it in not an application as that is a false statement too), your phone number becomes available for ALL your friends to see your contact number.

You need to edit your privacy settings (Simple as)

I have over 380 contacts only 50 show their phone number

    (HELLOOO WAKE UP PEOPLE)

My phone no is on the website but only those I gave permission to see it can....

  • @AnonymousNeo

The selling to private companies because its FREE

Are these for real? What network is this as I would love to complain to them for setting a false panic off

We have anonymous teenagers wanting to DDOS FB on the 5th November because of this crap when its not even true

Facebook make enough revenue from the applications

Each developer has to pay facebook to allow the app to be used

They also put advertisements down the side columb on a Pay Per Display or Pay Per Click

  • @AnonymousNeo

Why do I know this because I have done advertising on Facebook and I have made an Application and didnt publish it because I didnt realise you had to pay to make it available for all to use.

Why do businesses pay for give free applications to users

Because it bring venenue via their adverts or memberships such as E-Harmony is on facebook, in order to use Zoosk or Eharmony you create a profile but then pay to interract with other users. Information you agree and share with them!

  • Wow this is why Facebook is Epic fail!

  • i like coke too!!!!

  • Cenk - "I like coke"

  • I never sync anything!

  • I've said it 100 times and I'll say it again.

    Facebook is the enemy.

  • OOOOOOOOOH, all the numbers I jotted down from all my facebook friends!!!!!

I'm going to drunk dial a lot of folks!

  • Zuckerberg is a fuck head who wants to eliminate anonymity.

  • South Park????????

  • that's it I'm quitting facebook!

  • well i think you guys dont truly understand it. you can download the app and it will not show your phone number if you dont want to. for me what happened was i downloaded facebook app and something popped up ASKING would you like to sink your number with facebook. and if you have your facebook set up where only your friends can see your profile you are fine. its not a big deal. its your fault for accepting and for alowing strangers to see it.

  • next the human CentIpod.

  • Cenk's Coke example only half-applies, if I write "I hate Coke", they still show Coke advertisements, there is no way to achieve proper advertising without analyzing context, and if they do that expect a ton of people to leave :P

    Use an adblocker.

  • sounds like Apple :P

  • Hey Youtube!!! Hit Me Up!!! 212-660-2245...GODDAMMIT FACEBOOK

  • @skibrady this is the rejection hot line number. Awesome 212-660-2245

  • Move to G+!!

  • Comment removed

  • Brilliant, I lost my phone and half my numbers and now i can find them all again.

  • You put ANY info on the internet, its fair game.

  • That's why I don't have a facebook anymore. I don't like the idea that my personal information is that accessible.

  • Maybe people shouldn't accept everyone... I can't see how anyone could have more than 50 friends. If that...

  • People need to learn how to use their privacy settings.

As for Cenk saying that facebook is constantly overstepping, he's crazy. The whole point of facebook is to connect and communicate, share and network. Every time facebook makes it easier to do this, people cry about their privacy. Then don't fucking use facebook.

  • don't be facebook friends with people you wouldn't want to see your phone number... it's pretty simple.

  • They can't see it because they don't want users to "think" too much.. They'll hide it behind seven pages of legal mumbo-jumbo.. They make money off your personal information, simple as that, the more personal info you input the more they make..

  • No one can ever see my Cell Phone Number on Facebook, cause I never use my Cell Phone for Facebook or for any Social Network.

  • It's a matter of settings. I had to go into my settings and change the settings in order for my friends to be able to see my phone number.

  • You can hide your phone number. It is in your privacy settings. My phone number is not published by Facebook. I just verified this.

  • The phone numbers of people who have shared are only visible in Face book, Not just by downloading the app...I have downloaded the app and synched and my number is not published...People who have shared there phone numbers in the info section are now listed as contacts and Facebook's response is correct. This story is just a rumour started by people who got frightened by seeing the contacts section.....please recheck the story TYT
