If anyone has the rest of the video, please, UPLOAD! I saw this on amazon, full length, and in the last minute Liebman and Cosey did an impromptu jam, and man, that was fabolous! Too bad they no longer have it
You're right McLaughlin's guitar addition for on the corner is a touch of beauty. One and One (extended version) with McLaughlin's intro is amazing (along with Henderson's rock solid bottom).. one of my favourite tunes from the album.
Anyone know where to find a good quality version of these on the corner interviews?
On the Corner is the stray bitch that infuriated the purists and gave the rest of us a moment to delight in the snarky devil music he was up to at the time. [ and McGloughlins guitar fills were insane].
Posting rare footage such as this is wonderful. But, posting this as a 1 of 3 part series & then taking over 11 months to even consider posting the other two is incredibly cruel & torturous! Are you trying to toy with us? Is this really Columbia Records Anti-Piracy Division implementing its newest tactic? Pretty Clever - very effective...I wish I never saw the first part because it leaves me yearning to see the rest of it.
This is from the dvd "Miles Electric", the Isle Of Wight concert. It has a a documentary with it that includes this interview. You can get it from Amazon.
Miles Davis music 72-75: the most mind blowing sounds ever. I'm obsessed with it. The most beautiful, funky, mysterious, aggressive, bluesy, hypnotic sounds ever made. I have countless bootlegs - it's miraculous how this band made what is essentially a jam in E flat sound different every night. I'll never get bored of it. Everyone in the band plays perfectly.
No its not. Its dead cold in a way that pissed off the purists and failed to fit into the obvious genres. Miles was, I think, extremely inclined to create his own dark space, a space where few people could live.
thank you, brotha! i saw you with miles in rio de janeiro, brazil, 1974

I'm not big into jazz guitarists but John McLaughlin rules so much.

I agree. If you like the stuff John M did with Miles you need to c heck out the album 'A Tribute to Jack Johnson'. Wow, that is the ultimate......

BORCH. Exactly, and Miles Ahead. Too dark, and I mean that existentially, for the masses.

This dark thing has been under-recognized since its inception. No one has made anything more sinsiter and snake-minded and COLD.

not cold; it's white-hot
