@RedGuhren It should be obvious but... this is the playstation (PSone) version). Identifiers: Smooth and quick abilities, resolve without slowdown. In-game text isn't the "olde timey" style like the psp version. The video dimensions (if aspect ratio is kept) would be 16:9 for the psp version, but 4:3 for the playstation version. Certain ability names are renamed in the psp version, including classes like the wizard and priest, renamed Black Mage and White Mage.

@RedGuhren - I can answer that. There are only two versions of FFT. In 1997/1998, for the sony playstation (PS1), Final Fantasy Tactics was released. A decade later in 2007, a remake of FFT was released for the Playstation Portable (PSP) as Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions.

If you wish to see the PSP version, I know that sagemaster15 uploaded the game, though... I don't really care much for his voice nor commentary... I'll likely upload my own playthrough of the psp version later on.

@tingler37 Yeah I cannot stand how they have changed most of the names for stuff. GUTS was a great name for Ramza's Squire SkillSet, the Iado and renaming some awesome other moves and names of people.... ruined my mindset.

dang u can open this? i been trying to open this for some time now, i thought i would try different classes, so far that only worked with getting samurai,dragoon, and ninja, cept i didn't have the time to give anyone any the others so i had Razma as samurai, one guy a ninja, one as monk, one as white mage since i had mastered black mage, and one as a geomancer, my white and ninja died but my monk and geo survived and then i ended up dieing, any ideas on how i can fix anything or such?

Unlock the Time Mage for Ramza, and save up all JP for the Teleport move skill, you can then have Ramza move to the other side of the wall, leaving Gafgarion for last. Alternatively, or in addition to, buy some new accessories that prevent lightning damage, most of the enemies weapons on this map SHOULD be lightning elemental, this will prevent them from attacking units equipped with this accessory.. I forget the name.

Oh... my... lord... I was just watching this for memory purposes, but I never knew that you could open the freaking gate! At this part I always had a Purple Chocobo fly over the wall and help me (Ramza) kill him. I had no idea that moving on that one specific space would trigger such an action... This battle was always a pain in the butt for me (I never used break weapon or concentrate like most people suggest. I never knew what concentrate did. I was only 7 years old and didn't understand RPGs)

to beat gafgarion by yourself easy be at level 27 and have rend weapon he has a ancient sword that only does 54 damage with shawblade rent it and he cant do shadowblade anymore then hell just attack you and do 18 damage and youll do 72 damage its that easy

@snake101eyes101 Duh, that's common sense to "break" his weapon, or steal it so he cannot use those dark knight abilities. Imagine making Ramza and archer with weapon break and concentrate and you got him on your first attempt.

@snake101eyes101 I decided on my own strategy which would be more closely to what other new players might experience, needing the aid of your allies from outside the walls. I chose my path and if I could change it, Ramza would be an archer with rend weapon and concentrate. Or even just teleport to get on the other side of the wall to help his own troops.

I think the accessory equiped was likely the 'rubber shoes' which nullify lighting damage.

@dragonwar090 No cheats, equip an accessory that repels lightning elemental. All enemies have lightning elemental weapons. So the only two threats are the summoner with Shiva / Ifrit or Gafgarion the Dark Knight.

I just gave ramza auto-potion and had x-potions stocked. Then moved him down to the little switch and opened up the gate to have my guys walk through and kick his ass ^_~

Note: The Onion Knight can equip every piece of equipment in the game. Males can even equip female exclusive equipment. Sounds like a mastered Onion Knight is greater then a Mime due to the ability to equip anything.

The Onion Knight is a job class from Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. One of the new job classes, the Onion Knight has very basic stats, and no real abilities. However, it has hidden potential, in that it has increased power dependent on the amount of other job classes the unit has mastered, much like Freelancers in other games like Final Fantasy V. To get one level, the character must master two jobs, so to get the maximum Onion Knight level the character must master 14 jobs.

i used to have trouble with this one, so i made the outside squad be all archers with teleport, id port them to the top of the wall, then just shoot everyone, they cant attack you that way.

haha mine is the best as i think that i have read on this page. u get him 2 ninja get 2 hands then a time mage for telly and then a monk and SHBLAM kill gafragan in 1 hit well at least i did for the outside i used 2 summers with bahmat (or how ever u spell it) and with one move of everyone the battle was over with in 3 minutes :-)

I used the two handed monk technique, but I like the sniper technique you used. That made the outside battle much easier. Perhaps you could have used the auto potion technique to ignore Gafgarion

No, this isn't the PSP version. This is actually the Playstation (PS1 or PSone) game disc. The first Final Fantasy Tactics game to be released back in 1997/1998. This isn't "War of the Lions."

Nice strategy. I have a favorite solution for this battle though: I set Ramza's job to Knight and use the weapon break tech on Gafgarion. It's hilarious once his weapon is broken and he has suffered a few power breaks! LOL!! :D

How about a Ninja with Concentrate, and Battle Skill? Or have Ramza save up enough JP to get teleport before this point and have him Teleport out of Gafgarions reach to assist his main allies in the field.

I believe a good strategy to escape the confines of Gafgarion take priority considering you can equip rubber shoes for this battle. You'd teleport on the other side of the wall, mop up the enemies then teleport back inside while opening the gate at the same time As your units then rush in and overwhlem Gafgarion, but Gafgarion would be easy also with other strategies. example, Ninja/two swords + weapon Break + concentrate. Perhaps maybe Auto Potion, Move-HP Up, and Defense Up / Attack Up.

Also not forgetting of the Item secondary Skill would come in handy, simply heal each turn while moving over to the gate. thereby letting people in or out as your battle plan changes at your whim.

Haha, good shooting Mr Ramza, allthough I kinda had a showdown between Gaffy and Ramza, he is pretty hard, since all he seems to do is use that draining attack, really annoying <_<

I feel that Ramza could have teleported away to  help his allies before moving to open the gate to take out Gafgarion with a team, it would have been nice. Of course a good strategy for the duel with Gaffy, you could have been a ninja with concentrate and break weapon, disable Gafgarion then proceed to whoop his butt.
