So sorry, murcielago08na, but this isn't a US Army chinook. It's RAF. A Mk 2, to be precise. The chaff and flare dispensers on the sponsons give it away. That, and the external hoist.

My uncle (who is like a dad to me) was an Army Chinook mechanic up in Alaska with the 242nd Aviation Company, the "Sugar Bears" from 1975-1977. He's told me some interesting stories about his time up there working on these neat old birds. "Shit-Hooks" they called them lol

well the US army is the main user of the CH-47. the RAF uses it, yes, but usually when you see an olive drab chinook it is a US Army one.

Damn! At first I was like, "Oh, another helo vid", but the the pilot did the keep the nose in the air while landing thing, then took off reverse the landing. VERY NICE.
