  • Mine seems to enjoy her alone time and plus i play with her like 5 times a day lol

  • "come on bruv , we can do it!! " xx

  • funny and nice

  • the big one randomly is like "no its bath time"

  • what sort of bedding are you using there, recycled paper? :DI am trying to find the best alternatives to wood sheddings :D

  • @missSara yes you should really as rats can get more or less the same illnesses as humans. one illness you should watch out for is myco which is like tb and is tb in humans but humans can not catch myco off rats. you will know if a rat has myco the rat will sneeze at first and then over time will start to grunt and find it hard to breath, you can buy antibiotics but more then rat will die. but to help the ill rat breath better buy a humidifier.

  • you should boil the egg, kklloyd123

  • i wonder if yo uhave to boil the egg or just put it in the cage cause im probably going to get pet rats again if my mom finannly lets me get another one

  • rats are so cool!

  • it must've been torturous for them XD

  • Um... are you referring to it's um... manly bits? Cuz I think that's what you mean...

  • Those are it's testicles.

  • What Is The Cage Bedding Made Of?

  • The cage bedding looks like a product called Carefresh. It's made of paper. I'd recommend it 100%

  • lol i did the same thing with my Rats .. hilarious to watch... CHeck out my video too ...R-aTs

  • Lol! That'll keep them bizzy for a while. I posted my first video of my rats today so please take a look and add a comment if you like :) I wana know if its any good or not. Thanks.

  • LOL! Egg fail!

    *cracks up*

  • r rats allowed to eat eggs???

  • hi um... your rats r sooo cute! b sure 2 check out my rat vids!

  • do you give them the egg with the shell on still?

  • im going to get a pet rat soon!im so happy im just geting things ready for it this weekend or next

  • Im gonna buy another rat soon. :)

  • are they kept in a tank?

  • They used to be in a tank with a two-level cage topper. Back then they used the tank as a giant bathroom and stayed up top -- in this case, the egg rolled downstairs. Now they live in a wire cage and free range on top of a table whenever I'm home.

  • That's good to hear that they r in a wire cage now. The tanks can easily build up harmfull ammonia, which causes respiratory problems.

  • Aw wow. I am SOOOO gonna try that!

  • lmao it rolls wen they try to bite it

  • is it ok to give rats eggs

  • yes

  • Once in a while, yes. But my rats usually play with them instead of eating them.

  • damn...u... egg >=/

  • LOL

is the egg raw or hard boiled

  • Yeah, check out the description.

  • lol. so0o0o0o funny.

  • LOL i should give my rat an egg!

  • yes, two or none

  • i want a rat so bad but i herd they like company in a book i read is that true so if i do get a rat should i get 2

  • Yeah, they can get lonely so 2 rats is good.

  • ok thank u

  • @liarliar1111 yes yes yes yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the more rats the better as long as you have enough food, bedding, and love. if your new to rats i would only get two

  • @RatLover1496 I have 6 xD it started out with just two, but they are just such awesome animals I couldn't resist getting more. I just got my 5th and 6th yesterday and today. I wasn't planing on the 5th yesterday because I was getting the 6th today. but I fell in love with her when I saw her at petsmart and I had to bring her home.

  • This is so funny. After I saw this I gave an egg to my 6 rats in their "high rise"...it was bump, bump, bump up and down the ramps as they fought over it (no biting, just grab/run). They figured it out finally. Hilarious!

  • that is so cute! You have to crack it a little for them to really get in to it

  • I just bought 2 pet rats and I thought they were supposed to love attention and love to be with you, but they always seem to try and run away? Do I need to let them adjust to their house more B4 I handle them, or am I suppose to just hold w/ me no matter how hard they try to get away?

  • You could do stuff like let them lick yogurt or honey off your fingers so they learn to like you. Here's a page with more ideas:

    members dot aol dot com/juliesrats/behavior.html#bonding

  • Thank you! That's a good website you gave me too!

  • If they're young, they have tons of energy. I say let 'm run around and play. When they're tired, they'll lay still enough for you to pet 'm and snuggle. If you are gonna put something on your finger... be careful. The might not realize it's your finger... yow!

  • haha, ya! Had that happen already! But they're definately not trying to be mean, they're so sweet! My mom had her rat attack her foot the other day (her smelly sock :) ) They all have different personalities, it's so much fun

  • @LittleBitAZ yes they nedd to get used to there house first

  • They look so confuzzled XD

  • HILARIOUS! :) I gave my rats a boiled egg a while back, it was funny once one of them figured out how to sink her teeth through the shell. She was struggling to lug this heavy egg all over the cage with her and sitting on it to hide it from the others. It looked like she was trying to hatch it.

  • plz reply are eggs healthy for rats to eat or play wth cause rte now mine play wth a golf ball

  • Yeah, they're healthy. I wouldn't have given it to them if it wasn't :)

  • Great teamwork when the big rat stands on the others head :P

  • Heh... at first I thought you didn't crack the shell first.... but I got it.... they didn't know how to eat something round yet xD

  • my rats name is Sexi Tyme...idk y...but i love him

  • It looks like those rats are saying "It's MY egg!" XD

  • what kind of egg was that? boiled? It looks like your boys were having a blast, thought i would see if my 4 boys would enjoy it ^^ Thanks for sharing, you have lovely rats ^_^

  • Yup, boiled. Haha, among other things I'd be worried about clean-up if it weren't :)

  • hi what substrate are they on and where do you get it

  • It's a papery bedding called Carefresh. The rats seem to like it more than any other kind I've tried. I've seen it at every pet store I've been to, including Petsmart.

  • sorry i wanna ask..are rats way different than hamsters? Please enlighten me by replying..

  • My boyfriend used to have hamsters and he didn't like when they bit him a lot and seemed uninterested in humans. He likes having rats because it's not normal for them to bite and interact with each other a bit more. Of course, not all hamsters or rats are the same. For example, I bet most mammals are nice to humans if you raise them from babies. :)

  • Thanks a lot! hmm but other than their biting habits. During their giving birth, is it the same?

  • I don't know; I've never seen them give birth. Unless you're asking about whether or not hamsters and rats are related? Scientifically, rats and hamsters are both in the rodent order but don't occupy the same genus. Haha, sorry if I didn't answer the right questions!

  • (So for example, rats and hamsters can't have babies together because they are too different.)

  • lol its alrite..i'll look it up myself. thx anyways =)

  • is it ok to just have 1 rat or will it get lonly?

  • Yeah, rats are social and will get lonely. (Every once in a while there's a rat who fights too much to be with other rats, but maybe those rats feel lonely too?)

  • it will get lonly and it will be agresiw you need to have at lest two rats

  • haha thats great

  • that is so hilarious.

  • its always good for rats to have something to think and work out how to get what they want it challenges their brains

  • Rats are cute looking to me why are some girls/woman are so freaked out about em i understand wild rats are and can be dangerous but why are thay freaked out about the pet ones anyways?

  • I don't know for sure, since I'm a woman. But I think a lot of people aren't actually that scared but they like making noise about it :P

  • i aint freaked ou tand im a irl ive got 4 rats opf my own

  • if anybody could answer this question that would be great thanks i have had a rat for about a year and was thinking about getting another maybe a baby just not sure if the fully grown one would kill it.

  • Adult rats are often willing to be friends with a very young (maybe 5 weeks old?) rat. Old rats are usually more aggressive towards other old rats. However, there's always a chance the old rat will also be violent to the younger rat. Can you get a young rat and take it back to the store/shelter if they don't like each other?

Oh, and it's important to introduce the rats to each other on neutral territory, like a bathtub or something, so the old rat won't feel as threatened.

  • hey whats up thanks for the reply so i did buy a another rat and they seemed to get along at frist then all hell broke loose the older one was trying to kill it i tried the bath tub idea and they were not really interested in fighting as how to get the hell out of there i heard it takes alot of hard work for u to introduce a rat to another if they don t grow up together.p.s thanks for the help write back if u have any other ideas

i am still going to keep it just would like them to get along

  • So, did they ever actually get it open :) It's really cute to watch them trying to figure it out. Esspeically Fyodor, he seems really, really into it. I've never given my rats a hard boiled egg but they had a wrestling match with a plastic easter egg once. It was hilariously adorable.

  • lol thats so cute

  • Hey, that is a great idea, im going to boil an egg right now and give em to me rats hehehe.. they will love it XD

  • Is it really okay for rats to eat hard boiled eggs? With the shell? I should try it sometime. ^_^

  • what is the stuff on the ground??

  • care fresh, it's a paper based bedding

  • thanks man...and about how much is it and do you think its availible in mexico =S

  • I just bought two albino male rats the other day and I love them <3 yours are adorable!

  • We accidently aquired a male rat from a pet store (It's really hard to tell what they are when they are young!) but we've fixed things and we got two girls and two boys now. The boys are great just...very different from the girls.

  • Ooh, I love how they're popcorning around so much. So cute!

  • I have two pet rats. When i went to the pet store i specifically asked for two females. A week later to my suprise i pick up one of my rats and descuverd that one was a male. So now i have a male and a female. And now they constantly fighting. I have noticed that my female rat attacks my make rat and i constantly have to break them appart. It would be heartbreaking if i had to get rid of one of them... Any suggestion please message me or if you know why they constantly fight please message me.

  • im thinkin of gettin a rat...+ urs r cute

  • Hi! 1) Don't get only 1 rat. These animals are very social and need at least one other of their kind to "talk" to. 2) DO NOT GET A MALE AND A FEMALE UNLESS you are planning to breed them, which in itself, is not easy. Either get two males OR two females. Also be willing to clean their cage once a week, and playing with them on a daily basis. Do NOT get cedar or pine bedding. Get recycled newspaper (Good Mews) instead.

  • haha thats cute

  • It was but he was the happiest rat I ever saw. When you brught the whipped cream he wold sit there eating it. Sometimes befor eating it he would roll around in it and parade himself a little bit. He was kinda disgusting.

  • omg omg its an EGGG!

love that. :D I like to treat mine to hardshell nuts (rare occasional treat) around the holiday season. They spaz out so much over em. Gotta love the excited bouncing and twitching of a happy rat. :P

  • I frigure rats lead such short lives anyway why not spoil them. I had one that lived for 6 years! He spent his last two years weighing 3 Lbs and only eating whipped cram and strawberrys!!!

  • wow that's a horrible diet.

  • funny... but it would be nice if we could see the ending -.-

  • well he's very healthy atleast,and cute

  • that hooded rat is large what have you been feeding him?

  • Just lab blocks and treats! He's bigger than the beige rat because he's older than it.

  • it's really good to give captive animals challenges like this to keep domestic life interesting for them.

As a matter of interest, what type of bedding is that in the enclosure?

  • It's a bedding made from recycled paper. It works okay and they like to dig through it!

  • I think that's the paper bedding, it's like recycled stuff. I give my rats aspen bedding (not pine or cedar, I know my stuff). That bedding isn't available where I currently live (it used to be), but it's a GREAT bedding to use!

  • i have an egyption spiny mouse hes kinda like them he loves to play in his wheel and he always runs around on the table he used to have a girlfriend but she died :(

  • I LUVV RATS!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!

  • ya they can eat the shell. they just won't cuz theres no flavor to it. also, if you havent noticed, they peel evrything and discard the peel, eggs incuded, ;)

  • Give them tomatoes they love them ,gfv (great freaking video)

  • How cute. It's like, I *know* this is food...but I'm not sure how.

  • You know what rats really love...bananas. Mine go crazy for a lil slice!

  • I haven't observed mine eating the shell, but I am guessing it would be safe as long as they didn't eat a lot of it? Bird eggshells are made of calcium carbonate and protein, so it seems safe to me but I am no professional. And because it's hardboiled, it would kill bacteria on the surface.

  • so adorable!

  • Is it safe for them to eat the shell? Just checking, I have an egg in the fridge and my rats are bored!

  • aww they are adorable

  • haha so cute! :) I'm thinking of maybe getting rats in the future.

  • do it, it is the most satisfying decision I ever made ;) They are the most affectionate and playful pets ever!

  • you should they are so awsome i have 15 rats and i love them all they all have there own personality and hardley bite(only when u smell like food) they are awsome you should totally get some

  • Rats luurve eggs

  • they are so flipping crazy for the egg

  • Yo you should remake the same video but show the part when they actually eat it
