  • Very nice. Unlike certain people, I don't pretend I know so much about music and music theory and drumming as to make myself look like a douche bag because I really don't know anything (theMETALheadMAGICIAN), so I'll just say that was very tasteful and interesting.

  • u play soft.

  • why is this called math metal? lol its a short song thats in 7 is all. nice groove though, you got a great feel man.

  • 7/8 Blasting?

    Not bad

  • Before you started doing the blast, you reminded me a lot of David Silveria in KoRn's early days. I'm really impressed, actually.

  • MESHUGGAH!!! MEN!

    AWESOME!

  • Funny how people didn't know what blasting was until recently.

Actually, it isn't funny. Just an expression.

    Go drink some milk.

  • You suck.

  • boooooooooooriiiiiing

  • Do some mad wrist and stick height exercises for your blasts.

  • Math metal? that sound like fucking Nu Metal xD

  • 1) You're dope as fuck. Love your cool groove, speed and relaxed disposition 2) Anyone who doubts you're one foot blasting is laughable. This tempo isn't that intense (not belittling you at all, I saw that 250 shit. FUCK YEAH). In fact, it would probably sounds choppy and uneven done with two feet, no matter how independent your limbs are.

    One footers all day, brah.

  • one foot blasts 'are' awesome... I learned off the george kollias DVD, he's pretty fucking good \m/

... you're pretty good too man.

  • Weak blasts.

  • Lol... c'mon what is this... "Crazy math METALLL", "Crazy odd time blast beats". Yeah real craaaaazy man. This puts TDEP, Obscura and Meshuggah to shame!! ... You'd think that one would be a bit more careful about calling "Math Metal" to something that not even old school Rush would even call progressive rock

  • What is that stack?

  • Whats song it is?

  • hit like if you want to play drums, dont tap the cymbals thats just weak and most of the time your cymbals sound louder because your mic can pick up more sound from plastic tips.

  • Nice vid man! I noticed that you also have a china under what i guess is a hi-hat top cymbal!

Got the idea from the drummer in Meshuggah, thomas haake?

    still... I like your video!

  • lame

  • You're drumming like your parents are sleeping in the same room. You know that you are allowed to actually HIT the cymbals? :)

  • this is fucking boring

  • "Thumbs up and sub for crazy odd time blast beats? :D"

What are you, 4 years old?

    It's not crazy.

It's barely even odd time (7/4). The rest of the shit you did is in 4/4.

1 foot blast beats are for people who aren't coordinated enough to use both feet in time.

  • @GrungeRock1991 It's more technically challenging, and more straining to use one foot while doing a trad/hammer blast. This is fact. To prove it, i suggest you should check out Derek Roddy and George Kollias. They can accent odd times on the hi-hat pedal, WHILE playing one foot blasts.

  • @zTampa1337 its not a fact, its called limb diversity, and moving one foot fast on time isnt technically challenging its physically challenging, and doing odd times with your hands isnt as hard as if your doing with your feet because your hands are the "leading" limbs. thats a fact

  • @H0022 then explain to me why 90% of drummers who plays two foot blasts, does it because they can't play one foot blasts? Because it's EASIER!

If you think you have the limb diversity to play metal, two foot blasts shouldn't be a problem what so ever.

I didn't say anything about doing odd times with hands. Notice i said hi-hat pedal.

By the way, when you blast, your foot/feet is supposed to be leading, so your hands is free to do whatever you want them to do.

  • @zTampa1337 its easier because you dont need to do it with one foot unless you need the hi hat pedal to be used or any other pedal, a lot of extreme drummers play blast beats with on foot but they leave their other foot doing nothing on the other bass pedal, its pointless and if you dont have the stamina and endurance with your leading foot then you cant blast beat with it, for example George can but most of the time his other foot isnt doing anything at all.

  • @zTampa1337 and i know that your feet is the leading limb but naturally your hands are, and blast beats arent hard if you put in your mind that you have to play a beat continuesly without stoping, eventually you wont be leading, your hands will. its compliacated to explain but its a mental thing involving muscle memory. and its easier to do with both your feet not because of coordination but because of stamina as explained earlier, and your right about the hi hat odd time i didnt read right.

  • nice shit cunt ,i mean cunt in a good way :).Ive been drumming for years and prefer blast beats on one leg .Its just the way i learnt (couldn't afford a double kick) and it makes you a better drummer. It does take some stamina though.I can tell its single pedal coz the notes on the kick drum don't alternate. its very baddass xD

  • pretty cool. you definitely fit the music really well. sounds like you could loosen up a bit though. awesome kit too.

  • good, but you have as much personality as a lemon

  • This is not a crazy odd time signature...Boring...

  • Dude, that was pretty sick. quick and precise. I love the sabian your rocking out on as well. Im gunna have to get me one of those.

  • bpm midi ppffttt bah yada yada...what the hell are u guys talking about? heh heh...have a good day

  • You can make boring math metal and interesting math metal. Congrats on making interesting math metal!

  • Good job bro. Neat!

  • That was fun. I can't play Mathematic ((

  • @theMETALheadMAGICIAN You can't, you're just seeing my pants moving, my left foot is keeping my hi-hats closed. Watch my axis video, it has a foot cam. Or watch the one where I try 250, and have my foot up on top of my hi-hats, lol! Tons of guys one foot blast nowadays.

  • @LukeSnyderMusic Haha, you totally one-footed this. For a drummer who practices, this one isn't even at a difficult speed. I got your back man. :D It's SippyCup from the PDF by the way.

  • @iendacard Hey! SippyCup! Long time no see, haha. I need to get back around PDF :P Haven't been there in ages.

  • @LukeSnyderMusic Tons of guys have BEEN one footed blasting, always been used lots in BM. PDF, that thing in Philly?

  • @theMETALheadMAGICIAN I can do blasting that fast with one foot, and I'll be the first to say I'm an average-or-less-than-so drummer.

  • @theMETALheadMAGICIAN His high hat was closed and he doesn't have a drop clutch idiot. That was one foot blasting, and people that practice can pull it off.

  • @theMETALheadMAGICIAN george kollias from nile does 270 bpm one foot blast sow i think 200 bpm isn't that big of a deal :p and you can clearly HEAR that it's a one foot blast bcs double sound different

  • @theMETALheadMAGICIAN ha sucker luke synder totally parred you offf ;)

  • @theMETALheadMAGICIAN You're a fucking idiot. And Nicko is not the only person who can do that. Doubt he even can. DOWN THE IRONS MAN. N00b. His left leg is clearly not moving.

  • @theMETALheadMAGICIAN Check out George Kollias... One foot blasting _legend_

  • @theMETALheadMAGICIAN You new generation wannabedrummers dont know anything about a fucking hihat pedal.... Doublebass pedal was made for bad players, like you!

  • @wendepic I'm sorry, have you listened to Tool lately? Double bass work and hi-hat work all over the place. Just because you use a double pedal doesn't mean you don't use your hi-hat pedal.

  • @theMETALheadMAGICIAN erm its actually verry easy

  • @theMETALheadMAGICIAN

    it ain't that hard

  • @theMETALheadMAGICIAN you've got to be kidding... they aren't THAT fast lol

  • @theMETALheadMAGICIAN Yeah it's clearly a one foot blast. One footers always sound tighter and more edgy to me. Even though it's not the fastest blast in the world, it's tightly done. And maybe i'm just ignorant or haven't heard the entire Iron Maiden collection but i've never heard Nicko McBrain do a one footed blast beat... not saying he couldn't.

  • @theMETALheadMAGICIAN LOL. This guy.

  • @theMETALheadMAGICIAN obviously you know little about drumming!

  • @theMETALheadMAGICIAN It's not hard to kick that fast, he looks like he's using heel/toe but even without that and being quite rusty, I could kick that no worries.

  • I LOVE your drum-setup ♥

  • yeah he is right it is about 200 BPM

  • im actually a dj and i have three bpm readers that are preamped straight from my pc im pretty sure if they all read out the same number it must be true 107bpm is it i never said it wasnt good cuz trust me its fucking awesome..

  • @bigscrewdriver I just rechecked it, the quarter notes are at 200 bpm, your bpm counters are finding half notes, and with a large deviation. The backing track is literally a MIDI file at exactly 200 beats per minute. You've got something screwy going on there! But I'm glad you dig it, haha.

  • your only at 107 bpm

  • @bigscrewdriver ProTools disagrees with you. I choose to believe the computer ;)

  • I love how @1:04 you check whether your pizza is ready!

  • Why is this remaining me of YYZ by Rush... ;)

  • MATH METAL ?

  • the part I really enjoyed was the blasting at the very end

  • me gusta pero no fue tan metal, como fusion jazz mas bien, creo yo ;) igual muy buen trabajo

  • Thumbs up as a perpetuate always Meester Snyder =)

Oi Vey, the unbridled "hatred", literarily speaking - that comes a trouncin' your way on most every post you unveil, but then again I too would love nothing more than to give you a heaping handful of *SHiznIT* being I possessed no percussive skill sets, let alone a fairly sizable fan base in which to present them to. Clean, Tight, Calculated, Mathematical...Luke, Sir, You, Are, Dramatical...Twas' gay perhaps, but we love ya =) FUMBS UP!

  • @Mathemaetica Haha! Youtube, now THIS is a comment!

  • This is jazz metal man, no math metal!

  • Nice, now let's see you play Autonomy Lost, Bleed, Rational Gaze, Corridor of Chameleons, or Stengah.

  • play some Meshuggah ;p

  • wow 7/8 isnt even difficult.

  • @MattArgyelanDrums Neither is 4/4 ;)

  • @MattArgyelanDrums Neither is 15/16, doesn't mean it doesn't sound good.

  • damn your shit looks really fun hahah

  • How song is!!??? Please tell me

  • Dude! that was sick! thats some cool timings and it sounds some awesome! what is that you use with that sabian hi hat to make it sound trashy? thanks

  • @SMG59 Thats a 16" AAX crash on top of an 18" ozone china ;)

  • @LukeSnyderMusic how do you stack, is there a certain type of stand you can buy?

  • 200 bpm drumming isnt that fast man! sorry, im not impressed!

  • @maikweinhardt That's not really the point in this video. If you want fast playing check out a genre called death metal

  • how its 7/8 math metal?

  • I hope you know that most of your drum parts are from dillinger.

  • @sigurdtk15 I hope you realize I've never heard them :D

  • @LukeSnyderMusic If not, you should check them out. A awsome mathcore band. Seems like you got a lot in common.

  • @LukeSnyderMusic Dillinger escape plan. Listen to them, Great math drumming.

  • @LukeSnyderMusic

    well said!

  • @sigurdtk15 It doesn't sound anything like dillinger. It's like an odd mix of rush and meshugga.

  • @MrBenGarcia you're fucking stupid, btw.

  • @megatallica999 Lol how so?

  • Really tight playing. I would love to see some advancements on the moeller technique and more dynamics in your playing, then you'd be even better, all in all, good work dude! keep it up

  • what time signature in the very beginning is that?

  • Not "hard" but kinda technical

  • What gear you using here?

  • mathmetal : f(x)=ax with growl

  • Fuckin hit those drums!!

  • reminds me a lot of circle of manias by porcupine tree!

  • не. ебашилово круче

  • what kind of sabian aax cymbal is that?

  • Very creative!

  • i like it

  • sounds great man. Excellent groove

  • Not math enough. MUST PLAY ALL THE NUMBERS!!! :)

  • the 7/8 blast was sick. ive never thought of doing an odd time blast. sounds awesome though

  • interesting work.

putting up anything metal-esque is a bold move; the music is fun to play, but the genre fan-base has way more snobby nobodies, and they're only brave enough to shit-talk when they're safe behind their computer.

thus you WILL get more asshole comments than a jazz drummer or an R&B drummer. try not to let it get to ya.

btw, what'd you use for your stack?

  • one foot blasting is awesome! this sounded pretty cool dude! but show a little emotion next time haha

  • PLAY THROUGH THOSE DRUMS MAN! You're a sick drummer, I just can't hear you. Slam those things.

  • nice simple set up, just the way i like it! awesome drumming dude

  • WTH!???? thats 0.5 BPM!

  • i thought the first part was pretty interesting, but the blast beat disappointed me. Depending on your tempo its either just 32 or 16 notes so all you have to do is accent the 1 to play in any time signature that counts quarter or eighth notes as the quarters worth. Try playing in odds as you would in 4/4, don't always accent the one, it's just another subdivision.

  • @HDRory Yeah, its pretty simple. It was difficult for me at the time, I had only been doing blast beats for a month or so, and hitting 200 with one foot was tough for me alone, playing the accents in 7 made it a little harder. Looking back on it though... haha :D Its all part of the progress, I'm still putting in lots of practice time!

  • @HDRory yeah - you know - the first part was actually very good - liked the hihat action to the baground music - but the blast part was very bad - first of all one foot isnt better - and second it sounds like your of rythme some times - but the first part was nice - try with a bit more feel and power to it

  • @magicUse I agree with you, except I don't even think the first part is very good either, haha. I play with more confidence and control now, haha. This was quite a while ago.

  • @LukeSnyderMusic yeah - it need that;) - but stil the beat in the begining is fine to the music:) - just needs some soul control and confidence:d

  • Comment removed

  • i liked the bass part at around 1:07. what kind of pedal do you use?

  • what the holy fuck is "math metal"...when that term was invented?

  • LOVE you set in this one

  • CHECK OUT kevorkian method on facebook. they are fucking brutal

  • Wouldn't say it was 200BPM..... Or near it.

  • @EntombmentOfEternity Then you would be wrong :D Use a tap counter, lol.

  • @EntombmentOfEternity Depends if you count in 16ths or 32nds

  • math "metal" is gay

  • @S3hnsuch7 I didn't know a genre could have a sexual orientation!

  • @LukeSnyderMusic

    Queercore

  • @S3hnsuch7 your gay.

  • @S3hnsuch7 idiot. If you treat music like this, you will never ever understand it. As hard as you may try. Realize this is Modern music at its finest

  • Crazy odd time blast beats? It' all the same pattern, just steady 7/8, accents on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th eighth notes. Math metal? No, 7/8 groove.

  • @ToAsTmAn119911 You're absolutely right man, I didn't know much better a year ago though, haha. I'm still a n00b in many regards now, too!

  • what cymbals are these? o.O

  • doesnt sound odd to me :D

  • That was sick nice drumming the accent's and the technicality that was all perfectly performed good job... Nice Sound of you Snare I Like That

  • this is utterly slow compared to what i'm familiar with, but well performed. good j

  • That was quite nice for one footed. Blasting to odd tiems isn't really that hard though..

  • i want him in my band... and im the drummer:/

  • @byronthe4th1 Haha, thanks for the awesome comment man :D

  • @LukeSnyderMusic No problem, but seriously i cant get any luck keeping a band and your drumming inspires me!! keep posting vids!

  • hahaha this vid was posted on my bday :D

  • How about a new verison???

  • Heck yeah for one foot blasting :D Your snare also seems more audible in this than in another video of yours where you were blasting, good stuff!

  • NIce bro!!! F**king SHAWEET!!!

  • Man this is some pretty sick sounding stuff! Impressive as well. Screw anyone who says you didn't hit hard enough. I actually find it more difficult to blast or play fast at a consistent volume when playing soft, so kudos to you for your control!

  • Interesting style, good job

  • the sabian charleston look interesting

  • dude u were adding some sick mathamatical shit

  • the setup for ur kit in this vid is so weird to me haha

  • ...Uhm... There was nothing amazing about that. I'm sorry dude. It was a little cool, If you wouldn't of done the same thing over and over and over and over and over again.

  • heel toe? nice...

  • This is nutso. I love the drumming and whatever the frick was going on in the background, it almost made me forget about the guitars.

  • @RyanTheEpic Haha, awesome :D Glad you dig it dude, this kind of stuff is my favorite thing to play and work with.

  • what are the 2 cymbals you stacked thanks!

  • What is the AAX resting on? is it a china?

  • Screw the haters saying you don't hit hard enough. Anyone checked the price of heads and sticks these days? Metal drummers don't necessarily hit any harder than a jazz drummer. It's all wasted energy and you can get way more technical and precise without hitting your drums like your trying to chop wood. Keep up the good work man.

  • @vanhalen021 I like you :D Thanks for the kind words!

  • @vanhalen021 Tell that to Gene Hoglan.

  • @vanhalen021 one more thing, it takes A LOT more skill to play softly (if quietly) than loudly.

  • @vanhalen021 it`s all about the feel and emotion. For this semi-studio thing its ok. Live this is worthless

  • Check out HATEURE's latest track Synthetic, just type "Hateure - Synthetic test mix" you won't be disappointed..

  • AMAZING :D

  • dunno `bout other dudes but u smack that drum with the force of an 6-month old. I don`t dig that and will continue to look down on fellow drummers with zero power. imho - pathetic

  • @TheBigLebowskiFan I hit much harder these days, not that it really matters though. There's nothing wrong with playing light. The most important thing is how the drums sound. And FYI, I was recording this track while there was someone sleeping in the house, couldn't exactly mash on the drums.

  • @LukeSnyderMusic dude drums sound the best when you hit them hard. go watch a aaron gillespe video hahah

  • @zlagy777 I've gotta disagree with you man, listen to Gavin Harrison's drums and tell me that they don't sound amazing! Plus, if you play like Gillespie, you'll go through a pair of sticks every hour at least, and break cymbals. Its unnecessary and destructive. That being said, I hit a lot harder nowadays than I did in this video, you can go to my channel to check out more recent videos. Thanks for stopping by man!

  • @TheBigLebowskiFan Let's see you do better, douche.

  • @TheBigLebowskiFan Smashing your drums doesn't make you a better drummer. It's not what drumming is all about.

  • @TheBigLebowskiFan you're pathetic, and i bet you abuse your drum set.....everything is about tone, no matter what the instrument is, dynamic tone is pure perfection...hell even djent bands have great tone, mainly periphery and animals as leaders.....most people don't hear the ghost notes, but once you hear it you can appreciate how complex it is and laugh at people who do periphery covers just bashing the drums and skipping all of the ghost notes(they add a thickness to your beat!)

  • Its called Djent not Math metal...

  • @ThinkmanSAm alot of mathcore these days is mixed with djent. basicly experimental metal if u think about it :)

  • @MetalDeath96 you still have it in you man! Incredible video
