Usually 12 gauges have more recoil, with slugs anyway because rifles have several objects or functions that reduce recoil (vents, heavy barrel, blowback systems) while shotguns shoot a giant ass projectile/s with usually no mods or systems to suppress it. (unless you get those custom microvents those are kick ass)

Not currently, but then the .50 was initially just a big ass machine gun.

Not much can match the power and range of these especially with decent ammo. If your using factory stuff at long range you'll be beaten easily by a shooter with decent hand loads.

If you're talking about an antipersonnel rifle capable of excelentaccuracy at 800 or mor meters, then a sniper rifle is generally a 7.62/.30 full power caliber rifle. The .50 bmg (here used in the m107/m82a2? is an enlargened version of the .30-06.  Therefore, caliber doesn't really do that much. However, considering that you are using the term "rifle", there can't be any "sniper rifles" larger than .50, or it would be autocannon if it automatically chambers. The m107 is a special purpose gun

Actually try to shoot a .50 cal man... the target does not cease to exist in out dimension when you hit it...

make sure you get to shoot one with a muzzle break...it makes A LOT of a difference, whether you still have a working shoulder afterwards :-)

yeah, no lie! my 12 gauge has more recoil than shooting my M107! The surpressor at the end of the barrel does a great job of reducing the recoil and the buffer spring inside the rifle is huge, that takes care of the rest. i cant compare it to a 270 or a 30-06 because i never fired either of those, but of course it is more then the m16.

wow i never would have thought that. i knew that the coil and the end supressor helped out but thats still shocking to me. i use a 30-06 for deer hunting and thats a pretty good shot.
