no, because of the writer strike, now they have to catch up, so they shortened season 1 to 18 episodes instead of 24. that's why so much things happened in episode 16. there also might not be a second season of gossip girl if the rating don't go up.

It's been announced there will be a second season, they've started filming the Hamptons scenes already!!! Lol... Leightons comment "and we're using the REAL Hamptons unlike sex and the city..." haha...

It's going to be released this fall, and it's going to have 24 episodes to make up for the shorter first season which was affected by the writers strike.

BTW, the dvd (region 2) is going to be released 18th August. Not sure about region 1 yet, but I'm in the UK, so I use R2 anyway!!
