Cool but not every one can do it. I can thanks for the tip I recently replaced the spark plugs on my ford f150 have to take off the fuel injectors to replace spark plugs it was a bitch to get the ones on the very back but I did it. I cleaned the injectors on the outside had some rust used gasoline and wire brush but now I know how to clean them inside. Truck has the tri ton 5.4. It's a 4 by 4 I bet thus will make it run better. Thanks
That is soo cool Ive never seen injectors cleaned like that but it makes a lot of sense not to mention you can actually see the difference by watching the spray pattern improve. Awesome video!
Hi, very nice metod, i do it with my inyectors and i see diference now...
Low impedance use peak and hold, they open with 12v and stay opened with 5v, anyway my inyectors are low impedance and this metod worked, can see in my videos.
Good idea, for a low-impedence setup (ie: 5v max), I'm assuming you could easily use a 6v lantern battery (the big square ones in the big flashlights) without damaging it. Usually electronic components are good to tolerances +/- 20% without damage unless specified, so going over by 1v for a brief amount of time should be fine. Either that or a 6v lawnmower battery.
This is a good way to get a basic clean. but even after i made my own fuel injector cleaner, and ran the injectors through a few times. they were still shot. there comes a point when you will need to get them fully rebuilt. specially since gas has 10% ethanol in it, which can actually sneak water vapors past the fuel filter, and slowly ruin the old seals in the injectors. and ruin the spray pattern making the injectors un-even. (typically in 15+ year old cars) just FYI.
@onamvannu Low impedence injectors should never see more than 5v. Car battery CURRENT is where the danger lies. You need to know if you have a high impedence or low-impedence fuel system prior to attempting it.
I would never use anything but AA's. But that's me. 2 of them should be capable of opening the injectors below 30 PSI of input pressure. One by itself is a bit too weak for more than 10-15 PSI.
This contraption is much simpler than the one I built.
I just run mine through the dishwasher! Seriously though...I think most injectors work on a 5 Volt signal, so people please check before doing this, as 12 volts CAN damage/destroy them. Otherwise, I think this is a great idea, and a hell of a lot cheaper than having them serviced by a shop.
I'm sure this guy watched this video and made his but he explains the process in pretty good detail. Search for "Fuel injector cleaning" by robguitargod1
@Warkhan about fuel injectors and CLR, i may have bought an old batch from suck ass kmart but it took me like a whole month to get my shower faucet back to new condition, i was pissed cause i had to put it back on to shower !!! dont know what it does for others ?? thanks though
good thinking.. after seeing this and another DIY cleaning vid ive just started peicing together something similar to clean out a bunch of injectors i have. for pulsing the injector u could use an indicator relay to do it automatically while its connected up to power..
Thanks for this great idea, tried it on my Mazda B-series engine's fuel injectors and it worked... unfortunately mazda injectors are smaller on the nozzle end and the 5cc didn't fit, I had to just wind teflon tape around the injector and hold on for dear life (the jet popped out a few times). a 3cc syringe however worked perfectly for reverse flushing.
@droolmonster888 Perhaps you could have used the seal that you used for the reverse flushing on the other side, and then it would presumably have fitted?
This vid rocks. I would like to do this however i would like to ask what that black piece is that is after the switch that is used to connect to the injector so that i too can fabricate this contraption...im guessing hes using his own colorcoded pos neg wiring after the switch as well which is an unknown gage?
I tried this method and it works, except I used an air compress and a 5" tube instead. But I gotta say it's pointless because you can just put 1 or 2 bottles of Techron and that stuff really works. (see amazon reviews) You can buy techron at wal-mart.
what the.... i thought you had to have pressure for fuel injectors to spray like that hence the pressure regulator and 60lb fuel pump guess i learn something every day thanks for posting
@tbirdpimp07 There is quite a bit of pressure in the syringe once you spray into it.. I tried it, and the first time my syringe popped off quite violently!
Oh, and I got my syringes from CVS pharmacy here in California. You have to ask for them at the prescriptions counter, but they gave me 4 of them for free. They may look at you funny, but just tell them you only need the syringe body, not the needle, though they won't give you one with a needle, anyway.
I did this today. It works great! I fired each of my injectors before cleaning and noticed that the "click" sound was muffled in some of them. After cleaning, they all have a nice crisp "click" now. A few of them got stuck in the open position when back feeding them, but I just tapped the side of them GENTLY with pliers and they can free. Once I finished cleaning them, they no longer got stuck. Also, I just used a 9V battery instead of the transformer. Thanks for the video!!
I would not do this without 'Pulse Width Modulation' to work the plunger open and closed and avoid giving the injector a full stroke from direct battery voltage.
how are you controlling how much voltage goes to the injector? there is a very specific range of voltage injectors work on, anything higher could destroy them.
@mrhocuspocus I have a small battery box with plunger trigger that holds a 9volt battery. It is wired to an old injector plug and works great for this kind of stuff.
no it's a false way do not use it cause the time of injection and the tension can cause dammage to the injectors that's why we have to do this manipulation using the diagnostique tools cause the tension is only determined by the calculator and it"s not a 12 volts it depend on the injectors and the manifactories that's why please do not try this for u safety
@locoken your local dealer... jokes. As coas21 says, pharmacies, clinics even pet shops. They're sometimes used for feeding smaller animals and stuff.
I tried this method but didn't get anything out of my injectors. Could they possibly not work with full voltage or is there something else that I need to worry about. The car is a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The problem was diesel in the fuel tank. Long story short, we loaned our van to a lady friend who filled up the van before bringing it back to us. She was just trying to be nice but the light didn't come on when the nozzle didn't fit. Hmmmm......we both learned a lesson from this one.
@coas21 I checked the voltage at the connection to the injector and I'm getting almost 12v. I was unable to find a momentary switch that operated at 12v. at radio shack, just an on/off switch but it seems to be working. Also Coas, do the injectors require a certain amount of pressure in order to be working? I'm just trying to nail down what the problem might be. Hey, thanks for the help and thanks for posting this video! Thank you for thinking of helping others out there!
@locoken Mine didn't click either, car had been sitting for 2 years. I figures injectors were stuck / frozen due to gas gunk. I put them thru a home ultrasound machine (the kind u use to clean bracelets, coins, etc) several times, dipped in gasoline - it's fine and gets everywhere, and doesn't harm neither injectors nor the machine.
I then conected to 12V observing correct polarity. 3 clicked, 1 didn't.
The one that didn't I hit it softly on the side with a plastic hammer....and voila: CLICK!
Thanks for the information, but does it really help the car if we just running the carb cleaner inside the injectors ?How about the compartment hole which do the suction of fuel?
Hi thanks for the reply. The syringe popped off with quite a bit of pressure ha ha! I think your right about the cleaner having too much pressure im going to buy some stp. I was trying it out on a test injector i have at work so its a bit of trial and error but what I dont understand it how you get the injector to squirt the cleaner at the pressure you did, how much pressure does it need? Thanks for all your advice.
Hi I have made the wiring up and everytime I tried to squirt the carb cleaner down the tube the pressure was too great and blew it off. I tried filling the tube without any pressure and it would not work. How do you keep the pressure without popping everything off please. Thanks
aren't you worried about damaging the injector? I want to make this but is it safe for the injector if you don't have a regulator for the amount of ohmns going into the injector?
i was thinking i would make a quick connect for when i do it on my car. I can just pull one wire off with the injector and use that. I will check the junkyard for sure. thanks.
This is a really cool project. good posting!
I'm working on a HHO for my car. I'll be posting on here soon to show my progress.
@SubParHuman either do the sea foam like i said in a post below... or go to a junk yard and cut off the injector connector off a used harness there... dont splice yours EVER!!!!! resistance is important here... im sure you can also buy pig tails for your injector some where depending on ur car model trust me sea foam is enough... i would only do this if i was rebuilding an engine and i had the injector danggling around like this
Nice work, I need to do this on my vehicle. I'm just curious where you get the plug to hook up the injector? Did you just take one off the Car, then reinstall it?
@barthoedemaker dude, im a technician and de-assembling injector is a bad idea, the impedance of those things is very sensitive. in fact i check injector for resistance and if they don't pass. i toss them. Now backyard mechanics sure let you do such things but this is the only way i would clean injectors other than sea foam. one bottle thru the gas tank, another thru the crank, like its oil and another thru the vacuum manifold. thats PLENTY OF CLEANING... if they are outside then this is enough
just by cleaning the injectors and renewing plugs, oil and a few other service parts you can add some extra power to your car and it will run alot more smoothly.
As mentioned earlier, 5-6 pulses of 1-2 sec. each is more than needed. Ive tested the injectors on ASNU bench and the result was as good as ultrasonic cleaned injectors. The difference between the 6 Ive tested was less than 2cc for 20sec.
Anyway, the cost of repeating the cleaning process, if needed, is next to nothing,
Nice man... Something else... Upon the injectors there is a kind of fuel filter. It is necessary to put it away when you clean it , to through away the dirt /fuel salts from the injector. if you don't they will stay and stuck inside again...Nice Job again...:-)
You fuckin' rule man.... careful ...You may damage the injector because there are different Ωμ resistance between injector and injector.. If you input more voltage that it can handle you will damage the injector. So count the resistance with a polymeter or search for the specific injector you may clean its specs before trying to clean. .. Nice job
Oh I'll get a fuel injector conection from a junk yard and will hook it up to batteries...won't forget the on and off switch

oxlade86 1 year ago
@oxlade86 What blew off? the tube? the syringe popped up?
The syringe must hold tight with the o-ring on the injector..
The tube shouldn't be too tight in the syringe, a small slack allow extra pressure out. Don't glue it just use some hit..
Some cleaner cans have too high pressure for this.
Let me know if that helped.

You can find one off eBay, listing 300408385932 will fit EV1 (Jetronic) injectors. Listing 390049566673 will fit EV6 (USCAR).
You can also make one for all type of injectors by modifying EV1 connector, removing the outside shell and living the inside rectangle.

nice video man. just want to ask what kind of powersource did you use to clean the injectors?
coz im planning to do it and build that test wire.
i saw one in here
input: 120-240v
output:12v i dont know the exact mili amps
is that ok?

It should work with 12-14V, 500mA and up.
High impedance injectors usually work on non regulated battery power, it can be anything in the range of 11V to 14.7V.

As long as it's about 12V and more than 500mA it should be fine.
By my experience 5-6 pulses of 1-2 sec. each is more than enough. Its also depending on the quality of the carb cleaner youll use.
All the injectors Ive cleaned this way worked well afterwards. All worked better after cleaning than before.

As long as it working on 12V it's fine.
I've tried this on a range (11-17ohm) of high impedance injectors and all worked fine afterward.
One can do the same for low impedance injectors using 5V supply.

So count the resistance with a polymeter or search for the specific injector you may clean its specs before trying to clean. .. Nice job

If your fuel injectors are 12v .. yes.. no more than 12v... I think the most of them are 12v...
