@theeastwatch I am going to drill a hole in the end of the wood, and run a short screw, into the wood. I made the handle to fit pretty snug, and the one screw, should mushroom the end, just enough to hold it pretty good. But I can use it right now, because it was a tight fit. I could also cut a slot, and use a small wooden wedge, and drive the wedge into the slot.
@kcbigjoe Yep, I would like to know how old it is, also. ECP commented, and said this was on old roofing hatchet. Probably used for wood shingles, at my best guess. But it has found a new home now! Thanks...
@EastCoastPrepper Thanks, I think it is a pretty cool little hatchet. I am not sure of it's intended use, but it is definately going in my backpack. It is pretty light weight, and I am sure it will come in handy.
shingling hatchet. what you got.
real nice.
the wood looks like cedar,i.e. Juniper, not so good. Juniper splits too easily
try a hard wood, Redbud, Hickory, Oak,Hard Maple.
cherish the family, all good
thanks man

It's kinda square... I think it would look better if you ran a draw knife over the edges a bit. Other than the blocky look, nice :)

@jjaayypp963 yeah I've had problems with Axe heads flying off the handle in the past, so I'm really cautious about them now...
thanks for the info, looks really nice.
