My dad, grandpa and me are going out today to go shoot gophers. We mainly use .22's and i have a .270 and my dad has a 257 weatherby magnum that he uses sometimes.

In ONE field, there are 50 gophers

in the first year, 1/2 of these gophers have 2 litters of 6 gophers

Each consecutives year, 1/2 of the previous years population has 2 litters of 6

BUT, during EACH year; 50% of the year-end total will die (either by illness of from other pretitors) AND another 25% will be killed by man

In ten years, how many gophers will there be.

I like to us eguns too, but to tell you the truth I mostly use my crossbow for gophers. You can shoot the arrow on an angle into the ground in front of their hole, so the arrow goes through the dirt and gets them when when they are mostly in their hole. This makes the target more easy than just the very tip of their head. Plus even when you only graze one with a gun, somtimes they fall into their hole or escape injured...with an arrow stuck in them they can't get away down their hole

I am an avid hunter, and I understand the responsiblity that ranchers have to rid their property of rodents that can be dangerous to their cattle. I loved doing this in Montana. I used an AR 15, a .44 mag, and a 10/22. If you hit them just right when theyre running they will either stand up and run with no head or do some nice cartwheels.

If you use a light varmint bullet you would turn them inside out and spread'em out pretty good. These gophers were all shot with heavy hunting bullets (except .22-250). A 65 grain v-max does a lot more carnage.

I use a 55grain vmax in my 243. It works pretty good. Very comparable to my 204 with a 32 grain vmax

The .243 is an all around descent rifle but I have been thinking of getting .22-250 or .204 strictly for varmint. How's the accuracy on the .204? I'm also itching to make some gopher soup and the more minced it is, the better. I hear SK is pretty populated with these guys. Let me know once you got your vids up.

Depending on the grain of bullet you use you can shoot a nice size deer with it. It's very nice for coyotes and fox. It's a nice fast cheap to shoot and very accurate gun.
