@holonboy Eh, they never show that guy as Lelouch, people just assumed that. As someone else pointed out, in order for him to be immortal he would have had to lose his Geass...which he never did. Plus they repeatedly say throughout the show how the world is like a burden that Lelouch carries alone. At the end when he falls down the blood makes the shape of a cross, a symbol that he sacrificied himself for the world. It was a brilliant plan, and personally I thought the ending was just as genius.

I like how he sacrifices himself for the world after it seems like he became a power-hungry bastard or something, when really he didn't. The third season they are making is before it all, and I think it is about C.C. or something like that.
