  • can i play like rock or grunge, or metal with a good pedal?

  • The CVs are a lot like the '70s Tokai "Springy sound", but now officially authorized by Fender, really excellent Guitars. I have the Oly white with the gold guard, and it's become my flagship, I LOVE it.

  • Bridge only, yes. Bridge and mid, not so much. Middle, yep. Middle and neck, no. Neck only, yes.

  • very funky XD

  • where did u buy this from?

  • thanks for the vid! I'm thinking of getting one. I usually don't chase highly expensive Fenders but this sounds amazing even on this vid! What do you think about replacing the pickups with David Gilmour's signature EMGs?

  • Such great guitars. And dude ... Your playing is incredible !!

  • Fender Strat MIM 94' or this guitar?

  • im sorry to bother, but im trying to decide whether i should get this guitar. i played it and i love it. but ive only played it a handful of times. i would like a second personal opinion if possible. whats the number 1 thing that stands out aout the guitar? whats the worst??? thatnx for answering this if yuo do. awesome vid by the way

  • Is this a good all around guitar? how does it sound it good with disortion?

  • This is great! Could you possibly do a presentation on how you wired your tone to your pick up? Thanks!

  • I'm sold! Been wondering about one of these for a while. Now, I'm buyin!!

  • No offense but when you started playing I was blown away, was expecting another lame review. That Strat sounds incredible along with your playing. I have the CV Tele and am totally impressed. I have 2 Am Strats and 2 Am Tele's but must have one of these CV Strats if it's as good as the CV Tele. I also wire all my Strat bridge P/U's to the tone control, putting the bridge though the tone circuit helps rid's it of the ice pick sound evn set at 10. BTW, my main amp is a Peavey Valveking 112.

  • You said you wired the bridge pick up to the tone control, i'm a beginner and am wondering what the purpose of this is because i'm thinking about purchasing one of these.

  • @CodEasy8 Strats don't have a tone control on the bridge pickup so I wire the middle pickup tone control to the bridge control

  • Great tones! There really is something to be said for sticking with 50s spec pickups on a stratocaster. All the overwound stuff sounds too mid-heavy for my tastes.

  • giutarcenter king of blues?

  • I wasn't sure whether to make a purchase on the CV 50 or the CV 60, but after seeing this my mind is blown both by the amazing looks and quality of the guitar and your godly playing.

  • hmm, I came to see a review... and I end up getting shown up in my own home :(

Very nice playing!! Love the riffs you use, you are an amazing guitarist!

The guitar also looks really nice, think I may be picking on of them up :)

  • IS THE 50'S OR 60'S CV STRAT BETTER?????

  • @JMLizardKing1971 Watch videos of both and decide for yourself.

  • You would make any guitar sound awesome, your chops are amazing!

  • Just wanted to tell you, this guitar is s-w-e-e-t. This is my main guitar now. The feel of the neck and fretboard is incredible. I had a good friend set the action. I like the strings closer to the fret board. I have other guitars. I have a highway one telecaster and a Gibson Les Paul studio. That were the most played. Not anymore. Thank you for the awesome video showcase. For me buying this guitar.

  • IM THINKING OF GETTING THIS FOR MY LITTLE SISTER, IS IT A GOOD LEARNER?A

  • this guitar is very good ! nice playing man

  • you have such a country tone u must have a tele somewhere

  • 2:58 when you start playing those jazzy octaves. Dude, sorry. But I'm gonna steal that.

  • 2.57 - 3.03 is the best!!!!

  • Wow, nice guitar playing! :)

  • i have 1 and its an awesome guitar and a great feel depending on what ur playing...

  • i want this guitat so badly! the pickups sound fucking mega. and you've got to love the treble/middle position on a strat. it sounds sexy!

  • very good!

  • best demo of Squier Classic Vibe 50 on youtube!! Congratulations!!

  • I went into a shop that had both a CV 60s and 50s strat with the intention of getting the 60s. However I sat there testing both of them and left with the 50s strat for $225 out the door. I thought the Alnico III just fit my style better. I like it better than my MIM Strat.

  • i starded tapping my foot without noticing! ;)

thats how good you are! really thinking about getting one of those, tried on yesterday and i loved it. I am really used to hambuckers, so the strat just sounded amazing!

  • AWESOME licks!!

  • sounds amazing!! What is your opinion on the 2011 fender squier 50's vibe lake placid blue guitars?

  • probably the most funked out improvisation on youtube. bravo buddy. 5 start.

  • I just got the squire 62 custom tele. It too is a stellar axe. Almost too good to be true. Anyone considering buying one of these should just go for it. Btw, hot licks, Dude!

  • Is this a good beginner guitar

  • holy crap! nice job! I wish you were my teacher :P

  • I tried one a few days ago along with the bew swuier jazzmaster and the jazzmaster dit blow it away, certainly eith overdrive.... Thin is with squier that you need to be lucky to run into a reallyngoodnone iguess... Had thatfeeling with the jazzmaster....the strat was quite disappointing, yours sounds great tho..and nice playing :)

  • why the hell cant squier/fender make every of their guitars w/ 22 frets??! this is so annoying, i need the 22 so much to bend on the high e. its nearly impossible to find a sunburst with rosewood fingerboard at an affordable price with the original design.

  • @givemeajackson what i think you should do is find a cheaper one that fits those designs but then take some new and better sounding pickups and put them in, if you want blues then p90's, if you want regular rock then it can vary from semour duncans to alcinos depending on what you get. i hoope this helps

  • @DRGK9 the problem is that there are no others, and i don't want another shape than the original. i hate this, cause i want a strat want a strat so bad :( thx anyway

  • simple demo. great licks. great sound. great guitar. lol for "it does feel loose there at the pocket there but uhh but you can easily grab that there i guess but i don't use that anyway so i don't care." overall great demo! planning to get this one soon as my first stratocaster.

  • I just bought a 50's CV from my local music shop.

I walked in the store with the intent to buy a Mexican standard strat. All I said to the clerk was I'm looking to buy a strat for under 400 dollars. He pulled down a MIM, a 60s CV and a 50s CV. I will admit, at first I dismissed the squires as being cheap knock offs, and went strait for the MIM. After playing it for a while I decided to give the CV a shot, and oh man was I taken back by how much better it sounded then the MIM I had just sat down

  • hello...may i know where was your guitar made? was it made in china? or what? sorry for my bad english..

    GBU and happy xmas! ^_^

  • @darksmile2010 Yes they are crafted in China but they're amazing guitars! Cheers!1

  • I would say 2:58 ... damn good!

  • If that's an improv, major kudos! I've been playing over 40 years, and even I can't replicate your little riffs. Wish you'd consider a "how to" on those scales/riffs in this vid. Many thanks!

  • @rpinks Thanks for the kind words. I will be excepting a limited number of new webcam students at the first of the year if you are interested.

  • @rpinks maybe you dont practice a lot

  • Hi, i have bought the same guitar yesterday, but what kind of songs can you play well at this guitar ? i thought RHCP* or something ? let me know ;)

  • @roellpeterss A strat is the perfect choice for RHCP. Hillel Slovak and John Frusciante used them extensively.

  • @golfcartonthefreeway thank you ! i can play the intro of ''under the bridge'' now and it sounds amazing ! grtz

  • what amplifier use???thanks

  • @nestorbenga80 I believe it was a Peavey Valveking 112

  • @rodchubb i played on a peavey studio pro 112 and it sounded mad on power chords and can you send me a strat from america to australia? i have a squier but its not a classic vibe so i want that sunburst strat ur playin i wanna imitate buddy holly

  • wow... its huys like you who make me wana play.. awesome job man!!! think ive decided what my next guitar will be too :)

  • I have this guitar, used one though and it's black and white. I wish I could play as good as you!

  • A guitar is only as good as it's player at times but I am impressed w/ these guitars and your chops show how good Squier has made them. Bravo

  • I've actually been watching this video a LOT, because I can't get that incredible funk tune - the one on the bridge pickup - out of my head! Is that you being awesome, or is it somewhere else (Prince comes to mind)?

Sweet guitar, and perfect playing, man! Thanks for this vid.

  • @Hqwat Thanks for your kind words. I was just improvising.

  • 2:59 - 3:02 is that just improv? sounds so sick i need to learn it

  • Cool guitar and lovey playing !!!!!!!!!!

  • I picked this over an Epiphone Les Paul.

  • just played one in a store and it was heavenly, tht was before i plugged it in...soooo much better than i though :)

  • this guitar sounds great. it is a good guitar for beginners?

  • @samario1968 This guitar is great for players of any level.

  • Congratulations for the great review and especially for the GREAT playing.

    Vitor, from Brazil.

  • that was some damn good playing.. i watch this vid over n over again lol..what gauge strings are you using?

  • @davedoggy Thanks for your kind words. The string guage is 10-46. Thanks for watching.

  • Which amp do you use ?

    very nice!

definitely the funkiest guy on YouTube

  • @churenzoo I think it was a Peavey Valveking 112

  • Single-handedly you changed my opinion of Squire guitars...brilliant sounding instrument!

  • Holy shit, Rob Dyrdek is playing guitar and owning at it. I'm really interested in the Classic Vibe line. Good to see that these are affordable and worth the money.

  • OMG thats the same guitar as mine. i love that guitar!!!!

  • is that squier made in china? please answer

  • @locxha96 yes

  • sweet chops, nice demo

  • I have a Stagemaster Squier and I cannot fault it.

Floyd rose holds tune perfectly and guitar plays really well.

Some great Squiers out there, save yourself a lot of money.

    Great post.

    **Check my Squier Strat demo!!

  • oh my friggen god! i would be impressed if eric clapton could play that!

  • dude that was amazing! im lookin into a guitar like that, your playings pretty sweet!

  • You appearance is very misleading,

If you played at the beginning of the video people would know how much your playing rocks before turning away!

  • @sirfreakish Ha, Ha, I will take that as a compliment..... I think..... lol

  • @rodchubb im in a 50/50 mind on whether to buy ne of these new .i have never ever bought a new guitar in my 20 years. but picking up these used and cheap has proved to be a difficult prospect, not some on ebay bringing close to new prices not that there expensive new just im a bit tight .so please help why should i get one of these over a mex? go on push me over the edge

  • hey! Is the tremolo fixed or the floating one?

  • @afiqfalif Floating.

  • @afiqfalif It's fixed. Strats don't have floating trems unless you do it yourself.

  • Hello there!,

Nice review of the classic vibe 50's strat. I bought myself à 60's classic vibe Candy Apple red and i like it. I want to ask you wich song you play on 1:44 and @ other Times in de video. I like it!

    Greatz

  • @Pengo41 Thanks. Just improvising. No specific song.

  • Okay , might sound lame

but this or the epiphone les paul standard , you know if you've played any of them Sir ?

  • @itreanor this

  • those guitars are amazing, unbelievable value for the money, they approach 1200 guitars in quality, nice playing

  • You got chops man.

  • is this one good for red hot chili peppers riffs..?pls respond anyone?

  • @racke1993bg Yes , these are the top-end guitars manufactured by Squier which is a subsidiary of fender . though these are made in china these are good enough , and btw for RHCP its all in the playing mahn :D

  • @racke1993bg Yes it is.

  • I JUST BOUGHT THAT TODAYY (: HAHAHAHAH, SO EPIC. (I obviously cant play like you)

  • Hey man can you tell me what pedals do you use for this songs, I have a Squiere classic vive 50's, and what pedals do you recomend to have a similar songs of SRV (texas flood) with this squiere classic vive ??? Thanks

  • The in between setting on the high gain part of the demo reminded me of some of the tones on ZZ Top's on foot in the blues...nice man. I was messing with one of these guitars at a shop, they seem really high quality.

  • Just ordered one today. I have the Simon Neil Sig 62 which is great but i gassed for a Maple neck 50s. I cant afford the real thing (I sold one 40 years ago for £100), so i'm getting this at £230....which is cheap. If it's as good as the 62 I'll be pleased. You're demo sold it to me.....Thanks......Al!!

  • Ok, so I checked your website out, and you're really good. Like, REALLY good. I'm also thinking about getting this guitar, btw. I've had the basic, crappy, starter Squier Strat for almost 2 years now.... and it's about time to upgrade lol.

  • Smooooooth:)

  • Cool guitar,Great playing and a genuinely nice guy

  • you make me lost my doubt to buy squier classic vibe strats. oh btw, maybe im gonna change the pickup with area dimarzio and bridge with fender 1962 reissue stratocaster tremolo, wut do u think?

  • respect.

  • great guitars,I bougt 50s tele version and I was OMG when I played it at a live gig.Best new guitar I ve had and I play '61 strat mosto of the time.

  • Can you link me to the mod you did to the tone control?

  • hey man, that's really bitchin! both your playing and the strat. love it!

  • Nice, I've been looking into a new guitar, and this sounds amazing for a Squier and more! I think I might get this one.

  • Finally, someone who demos a guitar so we can actually hear what the guitar sounds like

  • great groovin and great guitar.. i played it yesterday and i liked it.. but i have one qustion.. alldoe i play for only 6 six months .. and i realy dig funk, jimi hendrix, rhcp, eric clapton and them.. what do think about this guitar and its abillity to play funk and all what ilike.. ?

  • Very nice.

    But i'll buy the '60.

  • these are in deed great strats i was shocked at how light they are i have the olympic white one with gold pickguard im thinking of changing that though

  • That's a great sounding guitar. I am saving up for it now, I should get it by the end of July. Also to mention, your playing is pretty awesome. How long have you been playing? :)

  • Some dude is selling the pickups from this thing for 30 bucks on craigslist. I think im going to buy them for my squier bullet for rebuilding.

  • amazing playin man! and i thank i found my next strat

  • @rodchubb hey man is the burst on this guitar on both sides like a srat or is it all black on the back?

  • @gtnick314 It is a burst on the back as well.

  • @rodchubb thanks man i always loved that look

  • awesome playing bro. love your grooves. have you played the classic vibe duo sonic..??? if you have, how do you compare that to this chap..? planning to get one of the two, but can't really decide..! thanks.. :))

  • @kabirnagranee Sorry... I have not played the duosonic

  • STONE GOSSARD!!!!!!!!!!

  • @osodreamer Pearl Jam forever!

  • Thats a great sounding guitar, the best squier I've ever heard. Plus, your playing is really groovy, I dig it man. One question though, could you please tell me the settings you use on your amp to get that nice clean strat tone?

  • @codyn1 I usually just plug in the clean channel and run all the eq's at 12 o'clock.

  • @rodchubb Alrighty, appreciate it. And do these guitars stay in tune pretty good?

  • @rodchubb Great review! I'm going to buy it tomorrow...

    btw, what is the song?

  • I've been thinking about buying a squier strat myself, but I can't decide between a classic vibe 50's like yours or a vintage modified. Does anybody know wich guitar is better (for blues, rock, grunge,...)?

  • do you think these would sound as good ordered online? (after a set up)

  • you can fix the whammy bar by just wrapping some plumbers tape around it, if you'd want it fixed anyways.

  • I received mine today and you were right. Surprising high quality from a squier. All I had to do was tune it. Intonation and everything was spot on. Neck and head are very close to my friend's high dollar reissue. Pickups sound great. I ran it through a line6 spider4 and a peaver vypyr. Thank you for your review and reccomendation.

  • Another question I forgot to ask is. Is the strat a made in mexico, japan,or korean. I am awaiting mine anyday I rush ordered it with a gig bag. I have quite a few mexican made which are quite good.

  • @guitarjammer1 mine was made in China

  • This guitar sounds fantastic for a Squier. When I seen and heard your demo, I logged into Musician's Friend and ordered one. Question: What type of amp were you playing through?

  • @guitarjammer1 I believe a Peavey Valveking

  • the only squier thats worth buying and playing, affinity and bullet are only good for painting and smashing so you dont have to smash up a fender american made stratocaster, i tried one and it just said play me and buy me,

  • WARNING! Insane licks at 2:53 !!

  • I've got this guitar and love it. I also love this video - I keep waiting for Morris Day to walk out on stage! lol

  • with what amplifier you use it, were valves?

  • @jriverband I think it was a Peavey Valveking.

  • @rodchubb ok thanks, congratulations for the guitar men!

  • Now I've got "GAS" for one of these. I just picked up a CV 50's Tele and LOVE it to death!

  • Excellent demo.

  • AWESOME!!!! And nice playing. i am a big les paul guy but after i tried this guitar out at guitar center it blew me away. And can you tell me all the songs your were playing in the video?

  • Great video. i really like your playing. do you know if the pickguard holes are like regular strats? just wanna see if i wanna put a different pickguard on, would i need to make holes in the body?

    thanks.

  • @freenamdar Don't know never tried on this guitar but on the guitars I have tried they never seem to line up without a little filing.

  • Do you have any links or anything explaining how to wire the bridge pickup to the tone knob? Adjusting the tone on the bridge pickup seems essential.

  • @RKovecses Afraid not, but a google search should probably send you in the right direction for a schematic

  • hey man..you're playin very well...i bought the same guitar one month ago..its really nice...do you know if this guitar is better than squier vintage modified?

  • The funkiest guy on YouTube.

  • thank you for this demo :)

this guitar is definately on my list

  • Awesome review dude. Kickass playing. :)

  • They look great, but i wish they had real 1-ply pickguards, with a 90o degree

  • you are so funky man that awesome

  • i actually prefer these CV to MIM Fenders

  • what are the riffs/chords/scales you are playing please

  • what kind of amp and guitar pick did you use in this video?

  • Whoa! I love your playing dude! Nice tone especially. what gauge strings are on it? that always makes the most difference of tone in a strat for me.

  • Thanks for your kind words. I play 10's.

  • My Ameri-Deluxe Strat plays and sounds "little better" to me than my classic vibe 60s. Is it a $1000 difference? NO. Can the people at the bar I always play at hear the difference? NO. This classic vibe series has the highest cost performance.

  • Nice playing! Great demo.

  • love your playing man...bang on it

  • xlnt demo sir...i'm considering buying one of these puppys..i saw one and she looks beautiful and feels really nice...wondering, why wire bridge pickup to tone control?

  • To me ... that is the pickup that needs the tone control most. It allows you to roll off some of the hi-end.

  • Anyone to say he needs a Fender cos anything cheaper sounds less good?

My, it's really cool hearing and seeing you play man, congrats!

  • Comment removed

  • I just bought this model two days ago and absolutely LOVE it!

  • Actually I thouhgt about getting a Melody Maker from Gibson but now with this demo I right stuck in a blind alley!

  • I wouldn't mind getting a classic vibe Telecaster. I am more telecaster oriented.

  • Wow, great playing - love that funk! I bought the Tele and love it. I need to find the Strat, now. I can't believe what a deal these things are.

  • Man you HAVE to teach me how to play that!!

  • i have the same one, great review dude

  • Im looking for a new guitar, but i can't afford fender strats. I like pink floyd and that kinda things and generally play solo's. Do you recommend this guitar ?

  • is this guitar noisy?
