@mr3ggroll the reason why they do not compare these cars to Audi and BMW is because they are cheaply made. if you were only to look at the speed and stats about the cars they are much better than BMW and Audi, even faster around corners than a Lamborghini, as top gear proved in a later episode. but given all over craftsmanship these cars lack what BMW and Audi have. that is the reason why they can be so cheap is because there really is no true craftsmanship in them.

But agility wise the evo can make cars twice it's price look like fools, which is fun, but what's not so fun is the weak beat up 5spd transmission, and $1300 for advans. When new, the evo seems damn near perfection though. I think you get your moneys worth with the evo though, my abs still works great in the rain.

I'm lucky enough to own a WRX and Clarkson is absolutely right. I would say the WRX is perfect for loose surface and the EVO is perfect for dry tarmac. Both are amazing pieces of engineering
for everyone trying to decide on evo or sti in my opinion the sti is the way to go the boxer engine sounds way better and as far as people thinking that the evo is faster it's only because the evo comes stock with more psi of boost and the evo thats "faster" in the lap test isn't the versioin of the car that you would be buying anyway.....sti is the way to go
Booth are AWD Booth are around 300 Horse Power SUBARU is 300 Horse power and EVO is 280, IMPREZA Is better than the EVO in Drag Racing at Acceleration and the EVO is better than the WRX STi at circult and handling the IMPREZA is better at Max Speed... STi Have better looks at the back the EVO at the front but STi Hood is much cooler. IMPREZAs interior is a lot of better looked than the EVO is! EVO is the king of handling STi in Acceleration because Subaru's Engine is BOXER! booth are Beautiful !

I totally agree. One of the reasons I chose the STi over the MR was the community. When I was researching both cars I registered on both car's forums. The Lan Evo boards were full of "you suck because you don't have one" "stop dreaming" "your car will never be as good as mins", ect. Yeesh. Over on the Subie boards it was a totally different story. Sure there were a handful of Dbags, but the majority of the community was friendly and I even got some locals offering wrench help for beer.

the turbo is good, and of course... in EVERY turbo car if you mat the gas at 2k rpms. it will lag for a quick second..... and trust me there lag is not that bad..... besides all this is solved with aftermarket parts. "buschwacker" trans, and an fp green with a good tune.... every problem solved... just like that
I have an '05 STi. I prefer that way over the Evo for two reasons.
1. been a Subie fan since my aunt's Brat back in the early 80s.
2. research the history of Mitsu's reliability and longevity and how it compares (or doesn't rather) to Subaru's. Subarus are super reliable and are built to withstand a nasty, nasty beating.
I love the Evo. It's a great car. Too bad it isn't manufactured by a great company.

i have the 05 sti from this video, and i love it. its so aggressive... my father in law liked it so much he bought an 08 sti. he loves his but still thinks mine feels more intense. neither of our cars has been modified.. if you can pick up a used 05-07 model do so. you wont regret it.
I personally have owned an 2005 Sti and now an 06 Evo ix. I can deff say both cars are amazing, BUT when it comes down to FUN and Extreme handling the EVO takes the cake by far. Both cars are very amazing, so do not get me wrong.
test drove an evo MR and an STi(coming from a guy that owned 3 dsms prior). i bought the STi. just seems a bit more refined. a bit more mature. sounds absolutly amazing, not like some 4 banger honda. i love my suby :)
The Evo uses a tranverse 4 cyl and uses transfer shaft assy. to give you that "four wheel drive feel" and a rear diff which has included yaw control. The Subaru has a totally symetrical drivetrain system only available on horizontally opposed engines, and it's true all wheel drive system uses 2 LSD setups in the front and rear. If I needed a time attack car I would get an Evo but if I wanted a time attack car that likes getting dirty I would get (and own, lol) a Subaru.
i love subaru. i'd pick a subaru over a mitsubishi any day. plus, it sounds so mean in comparison. although, they really ruined the look of the new sti. sure it's lighter, but hatchbacks? not for me. sorry. this is the best model they've produced thus far imo.

Their both great cars. After viewing numerous videos i was commited to the evo. Last weekend first time i sat in an STI and the interior is much better. The evo's interior is terrible. I need a car with a decent interior.

Both great cars, but subaru has more character at real world speed(within the speed limit). The evo sounds very normal whilst the boxer sound is godsend!
the subaru is blessed with better drivetrain and a stronger clutch but the evo has a better powertrain.
you can easily modify an evo engine than the subaru boxer powertrain. its a pain in the ass just to replace the sparkplug on the subbie while in the evo you can do it blindfolded

as being in the US Air Force, both the F16 and the F15 hold different types of bombs. the F15 is used for both air to air combat as well as the f16. oh, i forgot, the STi is better.
Both cars are awesome. In real life i own the bug eye shape WRX model which is lower than the STi. i love the car and sounds the best.

Regular lancers arent. I know, I own one but I own the top of the line GTS. It aint no evo but it sure looks good. I dont understand how you dont like the new lancers, the old ones were ugly and WAY underpowered. Like nathandonner2 said, if you want a turbo but cant afford the evo, wait for the ralliart. It should come out during the summer and will be around 25 grand considering the WRX is that price, and this will be its rival. I might trade mine in my lancer when the ralliart comes out...
Ok People Listen Up...If it were'nt for the Active Yaw Control and the Central Differencial in the EVO..both cars would be the same...the Evo has the handling advantadge here....which makes it faster than the Subaru in the hard turns...and obviously the track at the Top Gear studio required lots of manouvering...Other than that they both are the same !! Btw...im not siding with either cars..This is a NEUTRAL PERSPECTIVE!!
I just found out that the USDM versions don't have the active yaw control.
With that being said, the Evo still performs better than the STI based on a Review done by Edmunds(dot)com where they reviewed both USDM Evo's and STI's.

Their both great cars. After viewing numerous videos i was commited to the evo. Last weekend first time i sat in an STI and the interior is much better. The evo's interior is terrible. I need a car with a decent interior.

Both great cars, but subaru has more character at real world speed(within the speed limit). The evo sounds very normal whilst the boxer sound is godsend!

il choose the evi hands down anyday.
the subaru is blessed with better drivetrain and a stronger clutch but the evo has a better powertrain.
you can easily modify an evo engine than the subaru boxer powertrain. its a pain in the ass just to replace the sparkplug on the subbie while in the evo you can do it blindfolded

as being in the US Air Force, both the F16 and the F15 hold different types of bombs. the F15 is used for both air to air combat as well as the f16. oh, i forgot, the STi is better.

Both cars are awesome. In real life i own the bug eye shape WRX model which is lower than the STi. i love the car and sounds the best.
However i bough a suabru for one genine reason. SOmeone might laugh at me but i don't care. Ilove it because of the boxer engine. I love its soun when you have the modified exhaust system up to 3' inch. It sound very distingushed. You can actually tell is a subaru iscoming from any road youcan't see.. It's thesexy sund

Regular lancers arent. I know, I own one but I own the top of the line GTS. It aint no evo but it sure looks good. I dont understand how you dont like the new lancers, the old ones were ugly and WAY underpowered. Like nathandonner2 said, if you want a turbo but cant afford the evo, wait for the ralliart. It should come out during the summer and will be around 25 grand considering the WRX is that price, and this will be its rival. I might trade mine in my lancer when the ralliart comes out...

I don't like the look of the new Lancer because it looks way bigger and bulkier and appears to have too much plastic on it.
But i have no basis on performance or anything to base my opinion on. I've never driven one.

STi= Good build quality, interior quality, reliability and better everyday use.
EVO= Less quality, less reliability but slightly better track numbers.
I drive in the real world everyday, not on a track...so I know which I'd choose.

Ok People Listen Up...If it were'nt for the Active Yaw Control and the Central Differencial in the EVO..both cars would be the same...the Evo has the handling advantadge here....which makes it faster than the Subaru in the hard turns...and obviously the track at the Top Gear studio required lots of manouvering...Other than that they both are the same !! Btw...im not siding with either cars..This is a NEUTRAL PERSPECTIVE!!

I just found out that the USDM versions don't have the active yaw control.
With that being said, the Evo still performs better than the STI based on a Review done by Edmunds(dot)com where they reviewed both USDM Evo's and STI's.

Yes...you are right...I've seen that Vid..:D;however, I never knew that US Version of Evo did not have it...Well then I guess the issue is solved...I believe the Evo is a better car than the Subaru...And now i guess some people prefer the Subaru becuase of the sound maybe...it has a good sound !! (STILL A NEUTRAL PERSPECTIVE PEOPLE !!)
