Indyk is correct. No matter who planned what - Hamas still murdered many of it's Fatah opponants, fellow Muslims by throwing them off rooftps etc in order to take over complete control of Gaza. Perhaps they had gotten wind of a plan by Fatah to get rid of them first but so what. This doesn't give Hamas the right to kill in cold blood, whether it be Muslims in Gaza or Jews in Israel. As always, Finkelstein's position is morally bankrupt.

Prof. Finkelstein is very confident and well spoken. But what makes him the last word on what ACTAULLY happened. Was he there for all these events and "facts" that he is claiming to be true? I think people are easily impressed by a man's ability to speak and charisma, but you have to be critical of ANY one-sided argument.
@olioli917 Short of actually being there (and even then there is an element of bias) every source is biased in what it says and what it fails to say. Expecting anything otherwise is impossible. Because of this a good researcher has to find the most valid, accurate and unbiased sources they can and working from them. It is unrealistic to expect first hand experience from the Professor so I don't know why you question the next best thing: Well chosen sources.

I can make a rebuttle, Finkelstein is the one reversing the facts here. During the so called cease fire by Hamas, they were shooting the freaking rockets and hurting Israeli civilians. Israel then retaliated, but somehow Finkelstein chooses to ignore the fact.
You can't claim to fulfill your part of the cease fire and shoot rockets at the same time.
Also you can see by his general statements that he has a very biased opinion and most of his statements are not backed up with shred of evidence.

Norman Finkelstein is right when he states that Fatah, with US/Israeli backing, planned to overthrow Hamas.
Fatah was arming Mohammed Dahlan so that his security forces would have been more able to illegally arrest members of Hamas.
That aspect could have been avoided if Tel Aviv and Washington had accepted the unity deal brokered by the Saudis in February 2007.
Again, facts tell us that Israel and the United States are the rejectionists on that angle as well.

I can make a rebuttle, Finkelstein is the one reversing the facts here. During the so called cease fire by Hamas, they were shooting the freaking rockets and hurting Israeli civilians. Israel then retaliated, but somehow Finkelstein chooses to ignore the fact.
You can't claim to fulfill your part of the cease fire and shoot rockets at the same time.
Also you can see by his general statements that he has a very biased opinion and most of his statements are not backed up with shred of evidence.
