hey Dan its a good amp my dad has a original black face 1964 Deluxe Reverb. i really love this amp he likes the reverb on 10 so do i. i always have it on at night and play it with my strat its a 1954 original i love it to death i would never part with it
Forgot to add, on the distortion discussion: Marshalls were based on the Bassman circuit I believe, orginally.
Listen to this Deluxe. You have to get the right amps for the crunch. You can also enhance it with tubes. I got a set of tubes for my deluxe, and my vibro champ from "eurotubes" and I had him put together a custom set to maximize the gain and distortion.
From 6 to 10 it's like an overdrive control, with minimal volume gain.
skydog, have you ever tried biasing your amps, to make them run hotter? And I have another question, Do you like Roy Buchanan, if you have never heard of him, I suggest you look him up on youtube, the vids of him playing in austin, texas are great.
That's not true...they just distort differently. They do have more headroom than say a Marshall...but they do distort...oh yeah, great sounding when dimed!!
Twins don't distort well, but the ones with 6V6's and the smaller amps distort very well, and if you use a boost of some sort, like a tube screamer, or even a clean boost to hit em hard, they get very distorted.
not bad, a little much on reverb, forgive me, but i know a dude who loves deluxes, he needs a bigger , thicker amp for where he plays, is a musical genious, but o man the reverb, an the pedal he uses to carry the sound is so piercing, he,ll drown out a 100 watt engl or marshall with that stuff, but just piercing, an he wont listen, okay, yep sounds good, sorry about that, he sounds better through his own thick chunky plexi, but alas , loves his reverb,, go figure,,.good licks dude, yep, surely.
OK, I have a Tom Murphy Aged '59 Historic Reissue myself.
Were your two LP well setup from the start or did you finetune them (or have them finetuned). Mine is a bit hard keep tuned. I expected to be well setup. Pity it wasn't. Nut is not well cut if you ask me. You don't seem to have tuning issues, or......
hey man, just wanted to let you know how much i enjoy your videos. i am a big clapton fan so strat style blues is what i am use to but i learned on a LP and those tones really speak to me. when i hear the blues in my head it sounds just like you. thanks for posting

Are the fender stack amps good for metal?
Schwampz 3 years ago
oh no...not for metal...but for blues and classic rock
fragmashine 3 years ago
They're not good for metal because most Fender amps(notably the Twin Reverb) doesn't distort, they just get LOUDER and LOUDER.
