  • Great Communist system the Democrats take away from the Popular Vote. They say California,Texas,Florida,Ohio,Pennsylvania,New York and all the Major States mean nothing. The old 2000 Election Middle Finger your Communist country is giving your Popular Voters.

  • STICK WITH NICK!

  • This is a state issue. I don't want my tax dollars paying for another states problems.

  • how about talking about voting problems well before anelection- did they forget we have an election every 4 years

  • lezlitaz, how 'bout you paying any attention?

They've been talking about voting problems since electronic ballots produced minus 16,022 votes for Bertie in Volusia County, FL (November 7, 2000), a precint with only 585 registered voters. In 2002 Congress passed the Help America Vote Act of 2002.

In the 2008 New York Democratic primary, Clinton led Obama 141 to 0, ----IN HARLEM----, the current, uncommitted vote tally stands at 118 to 116, Clinton. Ice, ice, baby... too cold, too cold.

  • no, really- voter impropriety in elections- you mean electronic votes are not safe? are not reliable? duh- this has been going on repeatedly --here in ohio it is rampant. they did however do a poll in the paper to vote for paper ballots or electronic--guess who won--electronic of course(it was an electronic vote) i pay attention- i just dont believe in the system any more

  • Ok, I'm a bit of a pessimist too, but you need some positivism in Congress: the right thing to do seems to have auditable paper ballots. If I were to be all negative, I wouldn't take any interest whatsoever in politics, why worry if we are all doomed?

"and... amongst all the dross, the lies and the grief, Ron Paul is like cathedral bells"

    (tweaked lyrics)

So I'd like to know why Dr. Paul voted that way, I'm sure I'll learn soon.

  • I think you and chester already got it right. One its a state issue, and the federal government should stay out of it. Two, it leaves you and me with the bill. Three, unconstitutional.

I'm guessing he has a problem with all three.

  • Obviously Ron Paul would vote against this. It means the taxpayer would foot the bill for all recount challenges and converting the state election apparatus. This is not the role of the federal government.

  • It's an emergency law designed to tackle an imminent issue: fraud and error in 2008. What's the proper role of the federal government?, is it to conduct "a study on the LONG-TERM IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE on pollution of coastal recreation waters" (H.R. 2537)? Let me get this right, the proper role of federal government is to control the levels of mercury in States' beaches but it is not to have reliable/auditable elections in a federal contest? Climate Change: YES. President Change: NOPE.

  • Imao, the federal government should be involved in neither. The people are supposed to fix each individual state. Not the federal government fix all of 'em with some blanket law. I think the law is well intended, and I don't blame you for supporting it, but on principle, I'd vote against it if I were a congressman. Its spending more money we don't have, and its unconstitutional.

  • luckyday,

If the federal government should be involved in NEITHER (I beg to disagree on principle: there is no stronger ground for federal action than federal elections) then why did Ron Paul vote IN FAVOR of H.R. 2537 (an uber-bureaucratic bill) the very next day?, a bill which among other things, orders "a study on the long-term impact of climate change on pollution of coastal recreation waters"? There is an obvious contradiction that I'd like to be addressed.

  • Pollution is a fundamental role of government. Protecting citizens by protecting your enviroment from those who would pollute it. Paul has said this is part of his political view numerous times.

  • Actually, I'm quite sure I heard that there were other earmarks connetected to the bill like eye scanning devices and other silly things to "document our freedom".

  • To give up your privacy to prove an election then it clearly breaks the constitution and why Ron Paul would not vote for it.

  • whats wrong with paper? You cant screw up with paper (dont say "florida" to me). You really cant. To want anything else is suspicious.

    very interesting story

  • New Hampsire

    (and florida ;p )

  • Wow

You are actually reporting the news!

I didn't think anyone did that any more!

    Thank You so much!

  • ismuks: no flooding. I had already posted and linked Kucinich's response (in About this video).

  • his response part4:

I have serious concerns with optical scan technology and its susceptibility to hacks and security breaches. Recent tests and research have demonstrated the ease with which a person can manipulate the configuration files to change votes. What's more, most of the equipment necessary to accomplish this can be purchased off-the-shelf at most technology stores.
