People, AI's these days can't even notice when they are getting shot at, nearmind talking back to you and understand what your saying. This was staged, but in 30+ years or so, something like this could be possible, but not yet. Not for a long time.

Point #2 and #3 of your video are good points, but I disagree with #1, I think it's reasonable for the game to detect the user's position and alter the character's gaze accordingly. Just because it's not 3D doesn't mean our brains can't impose some sense of 3D upon a scene.
And this kind of AI technology does exist, but it doesn't make commercial sense for games companies to pay the kinds of salaries expected by the people who know how to do it convincingly.

Even the ability to accurately transcribe natural speech is a fantasy (turn on YouTube's automated captions for a demo of how well that works) - let alone actually make sense of it and respond.
It's clearly faked, but you didn't have to look for those inconsistencies to know it. In reality. games designers are still struggling to get AI on modern to pc to use 'cover' dynamically if someone points a gun at them, never mind respond to a conversation about fish or homework. The leap in technology required to be able to hold such a conversation plausably is at least 20 years + in the future
No it was real the kinect back in this video was hardware based. If a stupid iphone can respond to you and stuff then so can this (when it was hardware based) except on a whole nother level.

Well it did the kinect is based on software and not hardware in this video they had a separate add on as you can see but to keep costs down they had to scrap it and thus limiting the capabilities of the games.
when she was playing in the water her hands were too close to the screen so theres no possible way the kinect could have noticed her hands there also becauase with the real Kinect you need to be at least 3 feet away for it to notice you

1. Milo is looking out to the side because Kinect has detected that Claire is standing to one side of the sensor bar.
2. I can't really see a problem with the puddle, maybe I'll watch it again.
3. The camera zooms in and Milo reacts to Claire because she was actually saying "And there you go" or something like that, which, I think, would be a phrase that the system was looking out for it to kick in the animation and the scanning.
I swear almost all of the stuff they promised this "amazing" thing could do and would be doing is complete bullshit. I don't see why so many people needed anything like this as proof to clue them into how this was bullshit. Now i may be a tad bit cynical at times but i would think the moment people heard them say A.I. and Xbox 360 in the same sentence peoples BS alarms would start going off instantly.
I understand the tech in kinect is amazing, but seriously stop drinking the koolaid people!

The camera can't see the inner-workings of objects either - meaning no moving parts for scanned objects, even extremely simple things like wheel and axels. Also there are legal complications involved with the scanning of designs like copyright laws. Prove me wrong on any of these, please!

if you believe this video you really have to be stupid the demo is not staged the facts that you point out are stupid take a closer look and keep in mind that the Kinect uses infrared to measure the distance between the players hand which means it will move before she does and he is not looking at her he is standing on her side of the screen and because of the camera angle it appears as if he is looking at her look at the edge of the screen in comparison to her he is actualy looking past her

Such a shame this isnt real, looked fantastic. okai look i know its not real , but watch in slow motion the one where she give him the paper this is meant to happen if its really good technology because milo knows that claire is just about to hold the paper to the kinect sensor,so he moves his hand to it, this is what you want surely ? just watch it honestly its true.

if this were to ever be real it would be sad. If the computer thinks for himself, he'll eventually learn that hes not real. That he doesn't posess any feelings and lacks a heart. Imagine just how alone he may feel if he were smart enough to figure this out. Us somebody's can never make a Nobody have a heart no matter how much money is invested to making milo real as can be. He will long for one but he could never truly exist. I feel kinda sad for him. :(

responding to lyonzy90: if that statement was true about no matter what your position in the room you are, why wouldnt it appear to be looking at "us" or the camera. clearly in this video he is looking at the girl not at "us" or that camera.

To be honest, all of your points can be reversed.
1. Milo is looking out to the side because Kinect has detected that Claire is standing to one side of the sensor bar.
2. I can't really see a problem with the puddle, maybe I'll watch it again.
3. The camera zooms in and Milo reacts to Claire because she was actually saying "And there you go" or something like that, which, I think, would be a phrase that the system was looking out for it to kick in the animation and the scanning.

I swear almost all of the stuff they promised this "amazing" thing could do and would be doing is complete bullshit. I don't see why so many people needed anything like this as proof to clue them into how this was bullshit. Now i may be a tad bit cynical at times but i would think the moment people heard them say A.I. and Xbox 360 in the same sentence peoples BS alarms would start going off instantly.
I understand the tech in kinect is amazing, but seriously stop drinking the koolaid people!

Yeah, but not because i created something amazingly technologically advanced, but because i lied through my teeth about the products capabilities. The camera can't see the inner-workings of objects either - meaning no moving parts for scanned objects, even extremely simple things like wheel and axels. Also there are legal complications involved with the scanning of designs like copyright laws. Prove me wrong on any of these, please!
