Yoshida's much more sorted to a cage, nakamura only took his back in the second round because the ropes stopped his throw. Anyway we all know Yoshida is the better fighter, just unfortunate he has this loss on his record.
In Shooto, if a B Class fight goes into round 2 and a fight has to be stopped by an accidental foul, the fight goes to the scorecards, scoring round 1 as well as the partial round 2. Pancrase does the same thing. Boxing does this as well, generally setting the cut off point at the end of round 4. In this case, the fight would have been a no contest if the fight had been stopped by the accidental headbutt in round 1. As is, it is officially ruled a technical decision.
Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure since some organisations don't do that at all, some only score the fully completed rounds and some score the entire fight up until that point. Scoring in MMA is certainly not as clear as scoring systems in other sports are XP
is there even an standardizes scoring system in mma? It seems like every judge is different. And apparently getting thrown around like a dog turd can win you a fight in England.
A proper scoring system still needs to be found for MMA. But it's not only the system, often there's judges that don't know much about MMA. Hardly any judges have some kind of MMA experince like having trained let alone having competed in the sport.
The system they used in PrideFC seemed to work pretty well in combination with educated judges, for example Matt Hume.
yoshida was unfortunate to have this loss on his record he could have grinded out a win he was a superior fighter. as a judoka of his standard he shouldn't be getting caught with his opponent on his back for that long, poorperformance. still great fighter
Victory via Headbutt. That's a rare one.

The cut that stopped the fight was caused by a headbut, right? So it should have been a No Contest!

Was that an uchi-mata or a Harai Goshi ?

Harai Goshi, I'm almost certain, is what Yoshida uses in virtually all of his fights

Seems so . Hope uses some different throws that he can use . But if it works than use it .
