  • bach was an unique musician that can be covered by any solo instrument !

  • the meter change to 4/4 really changed it :p

  • someone has said it all: perfect! great performance. So good!

    Muito bom, perfeito! Adorei.

  • if this was in the Voyager disc, aliens would love the human beat!

  • great!!!! lml!!!!

  • JUST AMAZING! PERFECT!

  • Super!!! COOL !!!! So habe ich Bach noch nicht gehört.

  • Bravo!

  • Mr. Bach would be delighted with this stirring inovation of his Classic. Take care ADonovan43

  • Definitely the best piece of music I've heard in a long time. Well done!!!

  • brilliant bring it on!

  • classical music rocks. All these rock versions of Bach, Vivaldi etc shows two things

    1. The composer are everlasting

    2. Rock musisicans can actual play. Well some can ;-)

  • most underatted guitarist

  • when i look at his hands, i remember the mating dance of the spiders :))

  • This is f*cking cool - thanx guys - love it ;-)

    J. S. Bach bleibet meine Freude

  • WOW!!! I LOVE IT !!!

  • amazing...I love rock versions of classical pieces, nothing like a fresh reinterpretation to make you start appreciating an old favorite again

  • Well, at least he's playing Bach.

  • classical musicans and appreciators need to get the stick out of their asses. Music is meant to be improv and to be expressed through different interpretations. How boring would this song be if for the past few hundred years, it was played the same exact way..with the same exact timing, movements, instruments, etc.

Bach I'm sure would be amazed if he knew that after all of this time, people still love his music and how they are playing it in a way unfathomable for his time.

  • Music is not a contest despite what some idiots think.

Bach was a gifted genius and this is one hell of a Rocking interpretation.

  • @TigerRocket one hell of a musical inspiration no matter what you play :D

  • Bach rocks big time and this version is out of this world.

  • So, these people should "rot in hell" because they're playing Bach with different instruments and in another tempo? I love Bach, I really do, and I think this interpretation is beautiful.

  • @Paddyeahh totally agree and I freaking worship Bach

  • dont get me wrong, I love Hendrix, and hundreds of the 60's & 70's rock masters. but these clowns have ruined history's greatest piece of art. PUKE, and had to turn it off, it was that bad and disrespectful. thanks for the headache.

  • Amazing!!!!

  • To all the haters ... grow up and look past the 18th century. You sound like toothless old farts who swear at children as they run by you as you push your walker as you make your way to bingo.

  • Fantastic!!!

  • beautiful!!!!!!!!

  • WHAT........ ABSOLOUTELY terrible, and WHAT a disrespect to the great J.S. Bach!!!

This is vandalism of extraordinary beautiful music reaching far beyond soulless "rock" with no insight into musicality!

Punishment should be in its right order for being so distasteful!!! Furthermore the believe that Bach himself would have any interest in hearing this is OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!!!!

    Rot in HELL

  • @Kinjutsuu you're so wrong hevay metal and classical music it's the perfect marriage

  • @Kinjutsuu Rock is the child of classical music, live with it.

  • @Kinjutsuu You, my good sir, need to take a look on a documentary called "Metal - A Headbangers Journey". I think you will learn some things from it

  • Stu Smith = Ritchie Blackmore clone.

  • I should have known something was up with the way the dude was dressed @ the intro.

  • Are you all too young to remember Apollo 100? This is not the first rockin' version of this song. And frankly, I think this is how this song SHOULD be! IT IS JOY!

  • Very Good!!!

  • If Bach hear this,he will be very happy and crazy~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~lol

  • man that keyboard sounds sweet

  • 80's on Bach

  • Roll over PBS make room for Bach . A great performance. Take care ADonovan43

  • strange...... but i like it!!! :D

  • It doesn't matter how you play this. I've heard it as Calypso, Moog, Rock, Jazz, Blues and Irish Jig. It doesn't matter, it stays good because Bach was the ultimate brick house.

  • I bet Bach was a cool christian man This is in the spirit Of the Sitched on Back LP I heard in my youth. It was performed on a Moog synthesizer. I loved the Joy in the modern version. When I lived in New York , I had a friend who's uncle was the actualy invento of the Moog syntheizer. Yes, hard to believe Mr Moog. I should of stayed in touch this friend. She a was a nice gal and ended up going to Juliard. Im just a my ear perfomer. But great video AWSOME!!!, TYVM for posting it. Bravo!

  • I was wondering, there is a version of Joy in a surf movie sound track. I can't remember if it was Blazing Boards or The Last Surf Movie series. Is this the version?

I've been looking all over for it. Somebody throw me a bone...please.

  • Fantastic- love it! And for all those purists who think that this work can only be expressed in a "traditional style" remember... JS Bach was a shining example of inovation and creative expression- breaking musical barriers and venturing into different ways of appreciating sound, rhythm and tonalities. Great work gentlemen.

  • This is so good!

  • This music is from the Album A Taste Of Heaven & the track is called Dreams of Desiring.

  • Im pretty sure J.S. Bach would not approve of this......... but anyway well done for uploading, cool version.

  • DAMN RIGHT!!!!

  • Is it my eyes or does his guitar neck seem to be scalloped?

  • Sucks! Nice blouse!

  • its sounds like final fantasy 7 hehehe

  • not bad!!!!!

  • wankery at its finest

  • Ca déchire !

  • BADASS

  • Can I buy this for my I Pod?

I'v never heard a vertion like this.......It's Great

  • That. Was. Awesome!! I hope this is what plays when I get to heaven, lol!

  • Fascinating ! Reminds me a bit of The Nice. Love the cello and guitar together; must have been great fun to play.

  • bach would love this!! wouldn't think otherwise

  • kicking shuffle section in the middle worked for me

  • fantastic...!

  • SICK!

  • Does he think that he's Ritchie Blackmore circa 1973? lol

  • Ich bin sicher,Bach wäre begeistert von dieser Interpretation seines Stückes.

  • wow great version cool

  • excellent arrangement and musicianship

  • yuck!

  • Hahah, great version from the Rainbow idea :D superb!

  • I normally don't like the metal treatment to classical music but I really liked this.

  • LoL! this is so great.. seriously, one of my new favorites.. so epic

  • exept haircut , awesome!!!

  • Awesome!!! Wikipedia: Today, it is often performed at wedding ceremonies slowly and reverently, in defiance of the effect suggested by Bach in his original scoring (quoting Oxford Dictionary of Music).

  • why are people complaining about this?? 'oh no! musicians are being creative?!' chill out guys.. God bless xD

  • The gayest and yet most awesome thing ever...and I doubt Bach would complain about this...what would he say, something like "OH MY GOD, PEOPLE LIKE AND APPRECIATE MY MUSIC ENOUGH 300 YEARS IN THE FUTURE TO PLAY IT ON NEW INSTRUMENTS AND IN NEW STYLES, THOSE ASSHOLES!"

...yeah, think about it...Bach would probably be disappointed in a strict conservative view of his music.

  • good point of view

  • If Bach was alive today, he'd be turning over in his grave.

  • now, now, Ted, you know Bach would just have loved this ! I can see him nodding his head and tapping his feet as we speak ...

  • @murrmac - Damn Straight!! And this doesn't diminish the original either - in fact - looking around you tube I'm still missing a good classical version of it in good quality!. Now there's only a jazz version of this piece missing! I'm sure it will come up soon!

  • Yes - and then rising to his feet to vigorously applause!

  • @MTed1 If Bach were alive today, he wouldn't have a grave to turn over in... I'm pretty sure if he were alive today he would be headbanging to Apocalyptica, had jammed with Ray Charles, ripped with Clapton, dug the vibes of Coltrane, and be high on cocaine

  • Who is this?? No name in the video title.

  • I think it's great when rock musicians get off on Bach. Yes there's a "purish" attitude towards stuff like this, and you folks wouldn't approve of the myriad rock versions of Toccata and Fugue, but as long as the musicians play the piece with respect, then it winds up being a terrific rendition.

  • Beautiful.

  • I LOVE it so does my husband and kids, and Bach's original classical too.

  • Bach's stuff is so good it shines through any interpretation. I think this is fine and I like the excellent playing

  • its like the painting of the mona lisa wearing a digital wristwatch whilst texting. its just SO WRONG

  • please someone make it stop...

    donkeys donkeys donkeys

please don't do this to any more beautiful pieces of music

Neither Richie nor Stu would EVER sink this low

flat out gross. Write your own music and crap on it. Please don't do it to J.S. Bach.

  • I threw up in my mouth alittle.

  • why is this song not taught in school?

  • @blazednamazed It was, I had to sing it in the fifth grade (while the kids with recorders blasted it in my ear).

  • It IS. Just not this jacked up gawd-awful bull-sh!t version of it. I studied it in great detail in my Form & Analysis class in college.

  • reminds me a lot of blackmore...i think they're close friends or sth...

  • Is this the same Stu Smith that plays with the Eagles now ?

  • @lyngoodwin No..he's currently playing with Sweet.

  • Thanks for the answer , Have good New year !

  • wouldn't be christmas without Bach. This ROCKS! THANKIES!:o)

  • AAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! AWESOME!!!

  • Bach Rocks forever!!!!!

  • These guys are AWSOME!!!!

  • Wonderful; the band obviously skinned their fingers raw putting this together, great musicianship to attempt this.

  • Sad.... but it may appeal to some. Not sure what Bach would think

  • sensacional

  • I love the different classical versions but people must be honnest its an interesting one...it s also musicaly good

  • haha that was cool

  • In my opinion people with absolutely NO intelligence, should'nt be allowed near a computer, and FYI please read the fourth word of the first line. I SAID PLEASE !!!

Sounds polite enough to me. Now go away, I'm bored with you

  • Cool XD, I loved it =D

  • Honestly, can anyone send me an .mp3 file of this song or a link to where i could download this song?

I really like it and i can't find it anywhere ):

    -Domi

  • crimson, I use firefox with the DownloadHelper extension (put the name in google). Then I download the flv file from youtube and I can convert it to mp3 with an online service (mediaconverter for instance).

  • I Produced and edited this video at a Public Access studio in Santa Clarita.

I hope you all liked it!

    Bonnie Ruiz

  • ahhhh speechless, amazing, wonder how Bach would have reacted. Well done all musicians the world over - I love you

  • 1. Bach would have drooled while listening to this new sound/style.

    2. Bach would have had in his brain a storm of amazing new ideas.

    3. Bach would have learned guitar, bass and drums all together in one month.

    4. Bach would have totally rocked out the hearts of humanity.

    5. Bach would have composed music that is impossible for us normal humans to even imagine.

same goes for Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and the other genius grandparents of modern music.

music is an important part of all of us.

  • Yes, kernapnikteam, I totally agree with you; and all good music is up for improvisation and interpretation, the preference is ours to choose what gem we enjoy most; wonder what Lennon/McCartney and Simon/Garfunkel thought of the LSO and Frank Sinatra doing their songs; am sure they would have had a smile about them.

  • Ha, yes - wondered if they ever played stuff sim. to rock & roll, if they were bored

or stuck some day and just hammered some simple chords down on the piano.

  • creepy

  • lo I do have to agree with you on that...

    1:16

Jesus that guys face is distorted.

  • Don't You Mean Disfigured? xD

  • It could be both. It's all fuzzy at the same time. But anyway it's freaky.

  • What can u say????? Such an incredible job...

  • SOOOOOO AWESOME!!!!

  • I liked it. Some strange parts here and there but, not a bad execution.

  • Dammmmmmnnnnn.

    o_o

  • nicely done!

  • sick!

  • That rocks!!

Intrepeting classical composers is valid. At the time they were on the cutting edge, I can't imagine they would be pleased at being regarded as stuffy now. Imagine what Beethoven, Schubert, Mozart, Wagner etc would have been able to do with modern instruments

  • who r these guys, they were really good, did they write this?

  • are you serious...

  • i like the original better

  • yes! Stuart Smith was a well known organist during the 17th century. He met Richie Onori during that same period.

Although J.S. Bach is known for having plagiarized this piece, nevertheless Stuart Smith finally got recognition for this piece in 1987.

    Thanks!!!

  • fuckin awesome.

  • Awesome! Wild man! The way that dude Bach should be played...

  • This is great. Bach Scholar approves!

  • joyful indeed! many thanks!

  • How does this only have 52,000 hits?!?!?! This is the best version of this song i've ever heard.

  • i agree

  • Amazing...

  • Anyone who says it's shitting on Bach should remember that Bach music was considered radical in it's day and although he was well known as a performer, he had trouble getting his composing accepted by his contemporaries.

  • I´m orgasmed, it´s bueautyful, amazing, i´m cry......

  • yikes

  • WOW!!!!
