  • he doesn't sing in icelandic , it's in hopelandic , a langugage sigur ros created .

  • @ttzao17 By a Language you mean a way to use the voice as if it were an instrument. as another means to create music instead of anything that has actual meaning...

  • os mando un abrazo!!! tenéis que ser to buena peña!!!!

  • im so gay, and tis song makes me crie and want mor weener

  • @MrDankMango Herp-a-deerrrrrrp!

  • @sonoskay OMG r u frum reddit?! i herd they hav super cool internet jokes. i think they are called me-mes. SO RANDUM XD!!! TROLLD trololo

  • @MrDankMango DERPDERPDERPPP!!!

  • @sonoskay I sure hope you get the thumbs up you're looking for.

  • @MrDankMango Im not hunting for thumbs up i was just pointing out how much of an idiot you were being. Not usually my style but I found your comment beyond retarded.

  • i prefer the original one from the ep where they use real icelandic lyrics, but still such a lovely lovely song

  • there are no words to describe how amazing these people are. it's so unique. it's pure and refreshing. I just can't get bored of it. truely amazing.

  • guys, i gave birth to this song.....and it was mediocre

  • I am so happy not many people listen to Sigur Ros. I am proud to be the few who actually has good taste.

  • heima...home...bittersweet, havent been back home for 12 years, mixed emotions, do i know what home is anymore?

  • I wonder how he remembers the invented words. He definitely repeats them. I hear something like "You savour on my eyes" and "You drown inside." It's like he starts a lot of sentences and then trails off. Like he starts "Oh was I surroun--" and then changes from what you'd expect. It makes it interesting.

  • Is this in Icelandic or in "their own" language?

  • @anticsgmr94 based on Yakudilay's comment,I guess that this is "their own" language xD

  • This band never cease to amaze me with their beauty and talent<3

  • i dont even know what there saying but its fukn amazing love sigur ros!

  • @zakamotoNZ No one does.. its "hopelandic.." or in other-words.. gibberish. they use the voice as an instrument to call to each individual person and let that person decide what the song means.. though interpiritation.

  • The thing about Sigur Ros is that it’s like they open doors in your mind, to show you what kind of beauty has always been there. You knew it was there, but were never shown. And you can only wonder why you didn’t see it before. Up till then you thought “home” was a physical location, a building, now you see it is something you carry with you always.

  • @sphinxpuzzle

Or it could just be interpreted as a bunch of notes that sound nice when put together. You don't need to look so deeply into things.

  • @oxfordye Intention is the difference between a stick and a magic wand.

  • The smile at 2:55 pretty much sums up about how i feel about this song.

  • wow people calm the fuck down...all the comments are existentially wierd and self-absorved...they're just sounds, that's all...so man the fuck up...

  • thank you so much Sigur Ros for your life changing music you've truly done something amazing with your lives and helped mine

  • I wanna listen to this song when I die

  • This song touches my heart. No, it pierces through my heart. I have cried many times at it, like now. I have never known music can do this. That it can change people's lives, that it; can make you cry, make you love the world. Sigur Rós can do this, and they can do much more than that.

This is music, true music, that changes peoples lives. I will love Sigur Rós forever, and I'm only 13.

Writing this made me cry even more. I can't describe my feelings with words but you all know what I mean.

  • @Amoebe98 Age doesnt even matter in this case (:

  • @199920615 True :)

  • Sigur Rós > Coldplay. Stop it everybody.

  • @thewrathofthefallen i don't know how long you have listened to sigur, but some years ago they played a rather funny april's fools joke on fans... they announced that they would be doing a collaboration with coldplay, and recieved many mixed messages from fans before the joke was announced. well done, elves..

  • eventhough im not an Icelandic but i started to feel the whole song cuddling me..i feel the sadness within this song..can someone enlighten me please,,

  • ME ENCANTA LLEGAR A MI CASA TODAS LAS TARDES A ESCUCHAR SIGUR ROS

  • Wish I could understand it.

  • q voz Dios imprecionante!! sigur Ros...

  • eles sao muito mais que bom ..

  • 美しい

  • Somehow my ear hears it as random English words, isn't that strange?

  • @pchapman905 same here

  • @pchapman905 i hear the word growl and drown a lot i do to!

  • is this singed in hopelandic?

  • @Paran0idblues

No, this is actual Icelandic. Hemia translates into "home." Btw, the band hates the term "hopelandic" and never use it themselves. When Jónsi Birgisson sings in his nonsensical voice style it's meant to be just another instrument for your brain to digest. I know I probably sound like an elitist saying this, but it is the way their music is put together.

  • @diedahero The version of this song that was a bonus track on Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust WAS in Icelandic. However, this is not. It's in Vonlenska, what Sigur Ros calls it, which translates literally to Hopelandic in English.

  • @diedahero This particular performance is in hopelandic, not Icelandic. I'm not disagreeing with the other stuff you said, just that.

  • @clanofstupidvideos

Yeah, apparently the lyrics have been changed from the original recording. I don't speak Icelandic so I assumed that it was just a slightly different wording because of the live/dvd version of it. As for the Hopelandic and the band never using the term themselves, I've seen in interviews that Jonsi hates when people call his vocals this. He rolls his eyes and always says it's just made up words, like when you hum a tune you don't know the lyrics for.

  • preciosa, hermosa, amazing!

  • Thumps up if someone that cares with you sended you this song

  • es sonreir y seguir

  • fantástica!!!

    Saudações do Brasil.

  • SO BEAUTIFUL. Even though I can't understand Icelandic. Sometimes there is no need for words.

  • she cries with tears in her eyes

she loves the baby that has just died

nothing can take that pain away

her baby is gone its gone away

she calls the name of the baby so dead

she thinks it must be a mistake

she leaves the place without her star

she looks into the world so far

  • There is peace, There is Peace, There is peace.

  • look up "while the city sleeps - back when we knew", similar big soundscapes and grand crescendos.

  • no matter whats going on in my life this song makes me forget about it all and just........relax!

  • the only music out there that I actually pay for and buy legitimately...

  • The key is to love the instrument you're playing. They clearly do. It also helps to ooze melodic awesomeness.

  • <3

  • Quel chitarrista è un dono della natura! This Guitarist is gift of nature!

  • In a small house in the summer, with the windows open and the curtains moving from the breeze, I am a child waking up from a nap. How great it is to see my mom there dusting the shelves, and my cat in the window, sleeping. Home is so perfect.

  • Check out the experimental song I posted in the responses!! Thanks!!!

  • in this messed up world there is still beauty

  • @StarStruckbyBlaze me to ;)

  • @StarStruckbyBlaze they changed mine too, they saved mine.

  • @BigKazzy

    omg u r so deep

  • A beautiful song with a very simple melody...it reminds me of The Fray's "How to Save a life".

  • I have to go to sleep but I can't help listening and replaying this song. X__x. I hope this would be the music in my dreams.

  • my favourite song ever at the moment ever ever maybe ever

  • 1:53 - "Your shoes are dry; our souls are cold"

  • pure perfect .... the worst wonderful band

  • Qué música más hermosa.. Sigur Rós debe ser de las mejores bandas del mundo.

  • amazingly beautiful

  • BEAUTIFULL ICELAND MUSICIAN...

  • Actually this is English! ... even though it sounds like the atmospheric way Jonsi usually sings...

Own, so try to drown yourself

you say crawl, to save her on the side

you say drown, to drown inside

    you say crawl

to save her on to you-oohooo

    you saw

    You-oohoohoohoo

  • @jcfromsaigon It is definitely not English dude... google the lyrics, it's Icelandic.

    One thousand years in words

a thousand years which tell a whole story

no one sees, behind empty words

    there's always something.

    English translation.

  • Hello, I desperately try to follow and sing with the icelandic lyrics, Could an icelandic speaker add the subtitles on this video?

    thanks a lot

  • @jcfromsaigon This is not icelandic... This is hopelandic its means nothing...

  • @MrArniSteinar or everything. That's the beauty of hopelandic.

  • Sorry Sigur Rós, but i'm gonna rape u

  • This is mind blowing. Perhaps the most beautiful 3:35 of music ever.

Love to listen to this one in the evenings, just before bed time, when it's quiet and I can relax and take all of this in.

    Amazing.

  • I think the reason he doesn't make lyrics very often and sings alot in vonlenska is because the sheer beauty of his voice mixed with the brilliant music is too much to put into words that people understand

  • @Toothpick91 it's more that the band want you to fill in your own meaning for the song.

  • Sigur Ros is just a band not from this universe ! This Sound is so moving ... Crazy

  • Great Icelandic band!

  • Replay, Replay, Replay, Replay, Replay, Replay, Replay, Replay, Replay, Replay, Replay....

  • @mcrkid22 ..tell me about it..i don't even understand icelandic but i do listen to this group all the time. awesome..makes my work worthwhile while i listen to them..best post rock group so far. :) ..better than sex, actually...lol ! (oh..did i just say that?)

  • @mcrkid22 Couldn't agree more. The only flaw with this song it it's too short.

  • woa i just love this song...

can't describe how i feel when i'm listening to it <3

  • To be honest, I don't find it sad that not enough people know about this band. They can go and listen to Justin Beiber and Kesha. I feel like Sigur Ros is my getaway from the world, and if my friends knew about them, it wouldn't be the same.

  • the main guitarist is proper sad during this song...

  • wow it works all the time a genius

  • pls excuse the xtrian quote for an icelandic group but it feels apt for such a gorgeous and precious expression... "cast ye not your pearls before swine... lest they trample them under their feet". sigur ros have never been for 'the masses' and rightly so- although i believe 'the masses' are sorely in need of the wonderment that comes when immersing oneself in the soundscapes of ~sigur ros~ /|\

  • wow... chills down my spine.

    unbelievable beautiful.

  • Sigur threw free concerts all over Iceland one year. The band played all over the place, in different terrains, outside, and even in caves, all for free...I then realized Sigur has captured the pure essence and heart of what Artists are supposed to be.

  • i just learned how to play it!!

    Amazing song!!

  • Caught these guys in NYC in 2009.. Sadly it has been Last concert worth going to. Its really sad state for music when one of the best bands out there doesn't even sing in English!!!!

  • @supereggz1 what does it matter what language they sing in?

  • @supereggz1 So the only band speak english dude?

  • <3

  • It's the French guy from Inglorious bastards.

  • Sigur Rós - Heima (2xDVD, PAL, DTS + Box, Ltd) for sale at Discogs, user civii_servant, or contact me for more details.

  • Guys, different people have different tastes. Lets just accept that and move on.

Brilliant film. I love watching it around winter time. <3

  • does anyone know where on earth i can find this digitally without buying the whole video?

  • What a masterpiece!, no words to describe how I feel when I listen to Sigur Ros's music.

  • A masterpiece! Sigur Ros never fails to impress.

  • Ciao sto cercando il Film, volevo sapere se in Italiano esisteva!!

  • dis a song id play while lookin into my lovers eyes if i had one dis would play in my head as i gaze into her eyes tryin to define her infinite beauty and try to but into words that everything must come to a end but my love for her

  • bellas melodías..

  • Ever been to Iceland and shoved Sigur Ros on your ipod? Fuck me!

  • 26 dislikes? Who the hell can dislike this?????

    Beyond me...

  • I disliked it because it doesn't go on forever.

  • not everyone has the same taste in music! I never even heard of the guy till now!

I would also say that while he is good, he is certainly not my cup of tea! I can't even understand what he is saying.

  • @upret66 What guy? Sigur Ros is the name of the band (named after Jonsi, the singers, sister if I remember correctly)

And the reason you can't understand anything he's saying is because he sings in Icelandic or Hopelandic (a made up language of sounds). Not everyone sings in English, which I am glad for. I'd rather hear someone sing in their own language with feeling than to understand words without emotion.

  • @scottyhib not exactly my cup of tea! does nothing for me.

  • @scottyhib some of the ones who likes beiber...

    this is amazing!

but, every psico have a theme...

  • @scottyhib ...tell me about it..i don't even understand icelandic but..i've been listening to this group everyday..like..the whole day while i'm at work...awesome..awesome..best post rock group so far.

  • @scottyhib Sadly an unhealthy number of self important humans who think their existance is vital. The universe does not care. Enjoy as much as you can absorb and try to pass it on. Have a punt at the cocteau twins. they havre he same warmth.

  • wheres sugar ros from?

  • @matthewrockslol22 Iceland I think.

  • I take my hat off Sigur Ros for making such beautiful music. Give a middle finger to Justin Bieber.

  • wooow :) i love this song..there is no words to describe how wonderful it is <3

  • where i can find this lyric ?

  • @viciousvka79 It has no lyrics, it is hopelandic, a made up laguage made by Jonsi.

  • @GunnvorMuilwyk thats not true, its icelandic he is singing but the sentences dont make sense. So he could just put a number of words together in a line, like "they fall together dinner night love help me surrender" but its just the way the words flow in icelandic make it sound really good.

  • @alanjonsiwebb It's not just Icelandic

  • this song is awesome. makes me very comfortable.

  • they're so simple, easy, just the way they are. They wear no super-modern glasses and they wear no awesome clothes but they write this amazing music and every piece of it is absolutely gorgeous.Fabulous,just...so true and honest and terrific.
