u soo stupid,have u ever heard,do not use 3g network, turn it 2g and u just save few hour without exiting any software or program running,my 9780 die ever 3 hour on 3g then i turn it 2g,work for like 6-7 hour talk time,all ur thing ur saying are stupid basic,people can use brain for that,..why would any1 be stupid to use wifi when they not at home and on bus,only idiot,ever heard of ,if u cant make review,dont make 1 sorry

@LUPTON02 it would depend on what android phone you are referring to as well as the blackberry. In my opinion owning both android and blackberry phones i would say blackberry phones do have a better battery life vs. Android..

@angaddeeps The phones updated firmware has changed the setting from standby to locking the phone by pressing the mute button now.

You should try turning off your "service indicator light".... that actually helps a lot !!!!!

On my Curve 8520< I made my battery last an 5 hours just by turning the screen brightness down from 100 to 10! It actually isnt very dark at 10 but it seriously saves battery life! to do it, go to your home screen, click on options,scroll down to screen/keyborad, then scroll down to backlight brightness and turn it down to 10< then save it! You'll be amazed how much longer your battery lasts!

i have a blackberry curve 8530, and a couple days ago, it just rebootted it's self, and i wasnt downloading an app, it was just sitting on a table and i saw it rebooting, what would be the cause of that?

@juniorpong1 Well usually it only goes into roaming mode if you are "Roaming" which means your using other cell towers your provider has contract with to allow your phone to use their cell towers.

@juniorpong1 That has happened to me before it just shuts off. In my case i reset the phone to factory default settings and i stopped having the problem, it just gave it a refresh!

Hey guys one more way to ensure you get the most out of your battery is to let it completely drain before you charge it. I have no clue why that would make it last longer but so many people have told me that and I live 20 mins away from Waterloo, where RIM is so as you may imagine this is blackberry country where I am.

RIM blackberry has been a trusted brand originally aimed toward the business world, with its full keyboard reliable push email full html web browsing, bbm, etc, over the last couple years its become more consumer friendly, in competition with Apple I-phone, Aimed now not only to business users but also to the young generation with the must have of a full keyboard. A smartphone is a phone capable of accessing full html web pages.

UPDATE ON VIDEO: make sure to update your phones software and keep it up to date as RIM has been working on the battery issue in the latest updates.. you can do a wireless update from your phone. It does help out with the battery life from the older version of software from a year back shown in the video.. hope that helps.

i take this phone off the charger at 8:20 am everyday, and i only put it back on at 12:00 am cuz i gotta have a full charge for next day,half a bar takes 8 hours to go away for me, and i use my phone a lot, its just a matter of knowing how to use your phone,some apps drain the battery and you never use them, delete some apps and your battery just extends itself by hours

thanks for the batt saving tips! but on my curve 3g,i disconnect it at 6:00am and with me having aprrox 1-2 hrs of talk time(total)dozens of texts,a little web surfing and app downloading....i still have approx 15-20% batt life when i get home at 5 pm.

tips:i also turn off wi-fi and 3g modes when i dont need them,i disable gps(BIG batt eater upper)when i dont need and when possible i keep my phone off of vibrate. also,lower your backlight brightness and time out. hope this helps some pple:)

what i did was set the brightness all the way down. its still clear and bright on the lowest so its still good :}

what if you have purchased an extended battery for your 8530 and when you insert the battery it show a no battery symbol, how do you get the battery to work for your phone? if the battery is for your phone?

@truckergyrl69 Did you already purchase it? That has happened to me before try inserting the baterry and taking it out a couple times. If the no battery sign appears again leave it on the charger to charge and most of the time it will start up on its own.

The return key does the same job as menu->close.

If you hold je your menu key you'll see the apps that are still running. ;)

Did you turn off your GPS, Wifi and bluetooth? That weird, cause I'm on Facebook, email and bbm-ing all day and mine lasts slightly more than a day. If I just text and not use the data service (GPRS, EDGE, 3G) mine lasts for a whopping 4 days.

I'm using the 8520 btw, but it's basically almost the same as the 8530

@killa8478 My led light is also red when i recieve a notifications such as an email or text messege which is know with blackberry phones. The greeen led blinking is a coverage indication that i have coverage where i am at as long as i have bars it will blink green, if i run into an area with no service the Led indicator will no longer blink green stating i have no coverage. You can change in your phones settings to have the led blink for when you have coverage.
