I remember reading that someone said that his cadence was similar to Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz. I have agree, it's spot on! Also, I think he was hired because he closely resembled Spielberg at that age.

Really nice casting as in the beginning of it you think "so what, he´s not outstanding" but then he bursts out in tears and so do you.

This is why E.T. was such a special Love-Story
