  • This time not with that wimpy winky of a scarf wiggling in the draft (haha, joke taken from a Baker interview on youtube.

  • all parents did walk to school. my grandpa said he walked 10 miles uphill to get there and 10 miles uphill to get home.

  • Try looking at the Mini made by a Co called "PML Fligthlink". They have done it right. The Mini E is a backward design.

The PML has 4x150bhp hub motors. Why so powerful? They have full regen. The range on electric is 200 miles, has 4 seats and still it has a standard trunk. Under the trunk is a 250cc bike motor giving 100mpg, so total range 900 miles. 0-60 in 4 secs.

The PML drivetrain has been chosen for the Electric Lightning, a beautiful sports car that will give Tesla a shock.

  • ev is the future

  • i was there

  • $850 month?! This is a loser.

  • I'd prefer a car that ran on the souls of forsaken warriors. I've been accumulating quite a surplus of them as of late. MWAHAHA!

  • Looks super, $850 is a bit much.

  • looks great. can't wait for an electric car.

  • NIce, but too much dinero.

  • leasing?? again??

the mini EV made independently with 4 in-wheel electric motors and a petrol generator (105 miles per gallon) SHITS on this piss-weak effort

  • heres an idea: lets not refinance GM etc because they will never go for this but will make more SUVs

  • freaking awesome!

  • and yet ford/gm/chrsyler failed us

  • The 350 a month also includes a 150 mile long extension cord, a Barry Manilow 4 hour CD and instructions on how to become a real human being. So 500 idiots that are looking for redemption from the global warming hatchet, will be spared the humility of driving a real car and may just get laid because they are so sensitive. 500 WTF If all the people in Europe drove these it may actually make a difference, but 500?? AMAZINGLY STUPID...

  • lol... funny comment, and I agree.

  • Its called a pilot program idiot, a test set of 500 minis will determine the viability of the technology in a variety of climates and driving conditions. More like amazingly revolutionary considering the Chevy Volt can go a max of 40 miles and they still have not battery charging system.

  • So Your testing the technology huh. Funny way to test something. Give it to some sucker and see what happens, brilliant. Oh, and why would they call it a pilot plan idiot? You need to work on language skills, spelling, punctuation and math as well. 40 miles???

Get an engineering degree yourself and find out that the technology already works, it's called electricity.

  • Thats what it is called when you test something a pilot program just like the first episode of a new TV show is called a pilot. Also you know nothing about electric technology or the problems with viability of the batteries and the need to be tested in real world situations. And yes the Volt has a range of 40 miles whereas the Mini has a range of 150 miles which means that mini is not only more advanced, they also test vehicles before making wild claims. You have just proved your a dumbass btw.

  • The Volt runs 40 miles before it has to switch to gasoline use. Maybe in your future you could learn to read the whole story instead of spouting your bullshit sans knowledge. Oh and surely you understand the laws of diminishing returns. My electrical degree is from the USNA where I served on SSBN's as the Engineering Officer.

Just imagine arguing with a man that knows how to make 250kw from a nuclear reactor, and how to repair and maintain batteries the size

of your beloved Mini. 21 huh???

  • Right a small gas generator that will produce electricity which is wildly inefficient and a theoretical battery system that has not even been developed yet. Maybe you should finish reading the same article think logically about why they are testing the technology before investing too much capital.

  • You read but you still don't seem to get it.

The range for the (California) Mini is at best 200 miles then pull over and plug in for 6 hours, brilliant. The Volt can go 3 times that far then spend 10 min. at the gas station. The Volt is a much more refined and is a multi-purpose vehicle. BMW is testing the tech because it's all new to them. Gm had the tech down in the 90's, remember. All electric is good for around town but sucks for traveling. LA-New York in 2 weeks, DOH!!

  • One more thing while I'm here. How many people does the Mini carry around, 2 huh, Share the ride, and savings with a friend?? Typical German thinking. Soloism is what Nietzsche called it.

  • It's obviously a test run to see if it catches on. Also why it's leasing and not a purchase so you don't bone the consumer. If you go all in on something like this and produce say, 80.000+ cars off the bat and it doesn't catch on you're screwed.

And it isn't about global warming, it's about energy independance. Maybe you think it's ok for the US to go to war in oil producing countries to secure a stable flow of gasoline, but most sane people don't.

  • Using the term "sanity" in relation to the Oil business is risky, don't you think? I seem to remember something about two large buildings brought down in New York. Who do you want in control of your fuel source for the near future.

If you don't want America in your face for all time, don't kill our citizens. I personally think we should just take all the oil, we found it, developed the entire infrastructure. Set these ass holes up for life and now they want us out, NO WAY....

  • Ah you're one of the people who still cling to the idea that Iraq had anything to do with 9/11... great. Iraq would never have been on the table had it not been for the USAs hard-on for Oil.

It's in your own best interest to let go of the oil addiction yet you critizes something that will help achieve this. I don't get it... you against renewables too?

I say the sooner the better so we can stop dealing with these assholes. Bring on the new tech!

  • Muslims destroyed the WTC, and they have been behind all the terrorist attacks against us. I don't care what country they are from. I see them as the cause. If you don't care what happened to those people in NYC, we are done talking about anything I don't waste my time on fuckheads or Muslims. I pushed for renewables in the 70's when it could have made a difference, no one listened then either. My home is off the grid, totally self supporting and has been for 20 years. Try to keep up will ya

  • "Try to keep up will ya"? You seriously think I should know who you are? Get over yourself.

I DO care about 9/11 and I was deeply hurt that day like all of Europe. But let's get back on topic: I take my hat off to you for your efforts, I wouldn't have guessed it from your comments. But saying it's too late to do anything(out of spite I think) is foolish. It's never too late to change, in fact it's essential that we do both for political, security and environmental reaons.

  • Ok, well put. Change what and why? I think change for change sake is why we Americans can't seem to deal with something as constant as gravity. The Muslims want us dead, I think we should stop them. Off point slightly eh, well fuel is the root of the evolution of the electric car(of today) and as long as we are in doubt regarding availability of oil it seems relevant. The US did not start the war for oil we started the flow of oil, and I think we have the responsibility to keep it moving.

  • Well, IMO there are several good reasons to get off our oil dependancy as quickly as possible. Naturally oil will always be a commodity as long as it's there, but it'd rather see it saved for plastic's and jet fuel into the forseeable future then use it for cars. Like you, I also have a mistrust of muslims(and any religious zealots), so to me that's just one reason not to pour money down their throats. Taking it by force does not agree with me either though ;)

  • The judgement as to cause will be written in the future, the important thing is to set a standard (presidence) that states "If you kill Americans we will respond" (our way). We gave life to the oil business in the middle east, we did it because the resources allowed for it at the time. Things have changed and now The oil rich states want to run their own show. Maybe a close look at the suffering the general population of ME states endures prior to handing over the keys, would be prudent..

  • how much?

  • ??? ~~> Why is it that all these gas independent car manufacturers are only building 500 or less. Then you have to get on a waiting list that has 500,000 other people waiting. I smell the wretched stinch of politics.

  • sweet

  • /watch?v=xh0qv7V5LSI

  • see the movie "How they killed the electric car"

it's ridiculous how they shunt electric car technology.

  • I watched this video and I was dumbfounded!!! Watch how they killed the electric car! Very important movie!!!!!

  • Yikes. $850/month is ridiculous. Even worse to think you only lease it for a year and then have nothing. Mini E = epic fail.

  • how much is this one ?

  • That's the first I've heard of an electric car using the engine as a generator during decelleration. Do most electric cars have this feature?

  • Short answer: Yes. Regenerative breaking and deceleration is a big help toward increasing mileage for electric and hybrid vehicles.

  • Wheres MINI Me ? Undre the Hood? Yo, Mob Home Shopping. Search Tony Longo. 4 A laugh

  • 850 A MONTH. No thanks. It would be cheaper to buy one. Most electric cars are about 12,000. price range..

  • It's even worse to think that after leasing one for that much after one year you have nothing. I can find much better uses for $10,200 than to piss it away on this POS.

  • great as a goodbye gift to ur 13 year old kid if u r a wall street executive right before you go to jail!

  • The Japanese people say, 97% of the world map marks' Sea of Japan ' so give up. But Korean people say, 3% of the world map marks ' East Sea'so we will start fighting. It doesn't take even 20 seconds to turn this. Just sacrifice a little time. Let's show the power of the Korean netizen to Japan

  • and this has to do with cars how? please do us all a favor and fuck off, nobody gives a shit about how you hate japan. go cry yourself to sleep and die thanks

  • pull your 357 crossdraw on the faggots driving this car and money will come flying out of it.

  • faggots

  • anyone who leases this bucket is fucking stupid.

  • what a piece of shit.

  • 850 a month why dont they just take turns rapeing your ass untill you cant walk and have 25 diffrent strains of aids?

  • saw this in the paper

  • hahaha watch ppl are gonna get ran over like crazy cause electric cars are so quiet..wait n see

  • People get run over by noisy vehicles as well.

  • Yes. I have a Priius and when people want to put a negative spin on it they use the 'quietness' of it causing people to get run over. What a joke.

  • Those people deserve to get run over if they refuse to take some self-responsibility to look both ways before crossing streets. So many Americans look for some lame excuse to neglect self-responsibility and it sickens me. No wonder the rest of the world hates the USA so much.

  • yes, illustrated by the raging success of your major car companies :)

  • Would you really be saving much with all the electricity it would take to power that thing for a month?

  • BOOOOORING !!

  • Only 500!?...Lease only!?...Fuck you Mini!...GM did the same "lease only" bullshit with their EV1...Forced the customers to return the cars when their leases were up and crushed them...They claimed that "nobody wanted them"(despite the FACT that there were long waiting lists for the car)...GM is in the crapper (boo hoo) because they won't build what people want...Poor business decisions have a price and should NOT be rewarded with a bailout!!!..FUCK GM (FORD AND CHRYSLER TOO)!

  • Lease??? FU!

  • how many miles can you go on $20 ?... I am afraid gas has to go to 5 or 6 dollars a gallon and stay there before it can compete with any other source of fuel...

  • what about when the car calls out the electricity when i'm traveling ?

  • What do you mean by "calls out the electricity"?

  • the battery runs out

  • ๏̯͡๏﴿

  • Still too many trade offs(price, range, loss of interior space) especially with gas selling @ 1.67 here in NJ.

  • The electrics are coming! The electrics are coming!

  • i still like my 07 mini. it gets 50 mpg when im on the freeway and in cali thats all you ever do

    its a good concept though

  • olddddddddd

  • Ya but my 2007 gets like 45- 50 mpg so and i get 500 miles to the tank

  • really nice!

  • it's nice but I'll take a gas version anyday

  • Saving the environment for the rich. Except for the fact that the power grid couldn't sustain a whole lot of electric vehicles without an upgrade.

  • Except the DOE study in 2006 shows our existing offpeak power can power 84% of our cars today if we switched them to PHEVs (in reality it will take more than 20 years and we'll probably still be unable to switch all our cars to EVs or PHEVs even if we started today).

People tend to forget we have a lot of generating capacity that goes unused at night which is perfect for EVs and PHEVs to use.

  • I hadn't thought of the night slack time. Good point.

  • I read there's enough capacity for 2 million cars without any upgrades to the grid.

  • Isn't that just a drop in the bucket?

  • Compared to the total number of cars on the road nation wide, yes. But, compared to the number of electric cars currently on the road, 2 million is a hell of a lot.

  • Saving the environment so hypocrites like Al Gore can fly around the world in jets while preaching to the rest of us how despicable we are for leaving a "carbon footprint". I can only hope that the people will flip the bird at any gullible person they see in one of these Shitty E's.
