honestly i would say that both teams played well, though by ranking of the quality of goals, uruguay went all the way with the first and second one, with true art and beauty, and my god Forlan, the second goal, wow, even the keeper did not know what hit him. It's 32 teams who made it to the World Cup finals, but close to 200 teams were in WC qualifications so Uruguay acatually finished 4th out of ~200 which is even more impressive

Its really not that big, I'm a football fiend and I missed a lot of the match. Its great for entertainment cause the shackles are usually taken off for this game but its importance really isn't that big cause nobody remembers the third place or even the second place team. They always remember the winner.
forlan is 31 i think now...so hes coming up to retirement soon...he MIGHT be in the south american cup later this year and thats really exciting, just like the world cup but with only south american teams including mexico and USA i think...he also plays in a club in spain with atletico madrid, and suarez plays for a club in netherlands called ajax.

@1904Milan I know they play together in the national team but many of the Spanish players play in the same club team all year round. This is their great advantage. Forlan played in England for Manchester United for a season but only got 1 goal in 27 games so was promptly sold to Athletico. English league is very tough though, very physical. Its a chance to end the tournament in a good way and its another match between two awesome teams! Most people don't look at it like its a big deal though.

Half of their starting elven from the previous match mysteriously came down with the "flu" and didn't play in the match. In the end, the 3rd place match just decides who was the second best loser.

however if it was a mature experienced team it is not a big deal.
Keep in mind the main players of Germany were sick in that game and did not play, the "B" team was playing rather than the main roster.

It's 32 teams who made it to the World Cup finals, but close to 200 teams were in WC qualifications so Uruguay acatually finished 4th out of ~200 which is even more impressive

At the beginning of the WC many people in Germany thought we wouldn't win against Argentina and I think 3rd place is more than most of us had expected one month ago.
I hope Netherlands will win today. I like the team and the country. They deserve their first title.

To tell you the truth.. although big teams usually play in the 3rd place game until this year nobody gave much of a crap about it.. i think its because this wc has involved much smaller teams than usual and theres more interest the smaller nations... and in germany and uruguay obviously national pride has really played its part, uruguay did win the 1st ever world cup and its the first time in a long time that their team has played its part on the world stage

How about that racist announcer Ian Darke. If England had lost to Uruguay on a handball, he wouldn't be befuddled as to why the fans were booing Suarez. He had no problem with Henry being maligned when Ireland was kept out of the world cup on his thing...I love how in the postgame Chris Fowler had to cover up his mess from his in-game comments...worst announcer of all time.
Forlan thing was true poetic justice...oh and Mesut Ozil is the next HUGE deal.

Its really not that big, I'm a football fiend and I missed a lot of the match. Its great for entertainment cause the shackles are usually taken off for this game but its importance really isn't that big cause nobody remembers the third place or even the second place team. They always remember the winner.

forlan is 31 i think now...so hes coming up to retirement soon...he MIGHT be in the south american cup later this year and thats really exciting, just like the world cup but with only south american teams including mexico and USA i think...he also plays in a club in spain with atletico madrid, and suarez plays for a club in netherlands called ajax.

hay JR on the explaining the golden boot which basically goes to the player who has the most goals. in the situation that we have now, where we have 4 players with the same number of goals. the FIFA states that the guy with the most assists gets the golden boot. if this doesn't solve it they take into consideration the player with the least time on the pitch, which is almost impossible two find two players with the same timings

Also it is worth bearing in mind that Spains international team contains Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets, Puyol and Pique in the starting line up who all play together week in week out for Barcelona. No other team boasts this kind of situation where half their team play together all year round and I think it has been a huge part of Spains success in the last few years. Villa has just signed for Barca also so in future it will be 6 players.
This is why I believe Spain will win.

@1904Milan I know they play together in the national team but many of the Spanish players play in the same club team all year round. This is their great advantage. I hope Holland win and certainly they have the quality to do so. I just think Spains quality coupled with their familiarity with one another will win it for them.
Important lesson from this world cup has been that teams with good team spirit have been successful.

Forlan played in England for Manchester United for a season but only got 1 goal in 27 games so was promptly sold to Athletico. English league is very tough though, very physical. He has done much better playing in Spain and has carried that confidence into the WC. I'm pleased because he was unfairly slated by the British press when he played here.
3rd place match doesn't mean that much really, but it is a nice showpiece before the big one.
Hope Holland win tomorrow but I think Spain will.

The 4th and 3rd place game is far from important, but is just a way to decided which of the teams that lost in the semifinals is better, as well as deciding the players that made the most goals in the tournament... i would see it as a warm up game before the Final, and is just part of the culture of any Futbol Championship.

JR, the third place game doesn't really mean anything. You could tell by Germany's lineup for the match. Half of their starting elven from the previous match mysteriously came down with the "flu" and didn't play in the match. In the end, the 3rd place match just decides who was the second best loser.
