  • um, its a wolf, not a dog! why are you calling to them! LOL

  • If you no so much can you tell me why the wolfes are killing all the deer in the u.p.

  • They're nocturnal,/ but are not afraid of anything.

  • THEY ARE LYING !!! BASTARDS! Too succsesfull... YOU THINK! 700 in the U.P. In a 367 Mile area

  • I could swear I saw a Wolf in the lower upper part of Michigan, north of Traverse. It was far to big to be a Coyote. This was several years ago.

  • @ripvanwinkle324 Yes you More then likely did They have been sighted there Alanta,Cheboygan, Two years A friend Killed a Big cyote well we thought, He started doing a littl research and found out it was a cyowolf shot In Alpena.. Ill see if he still has thos pics for a vid Ill make! There are more then they are telling us and futher down then they think!!

  • Wolves are not a problem in the U.P. of Michigan. If anything, they help the deer in the long run. Deer these days just sit a few yards away from bait piles and have become dependent on those feeding them. The wolves make them run and still search for food. The deer should be able to withstand the Winter season a lot better by being more fit, b/c once hunting season is over, many people stop feeding them when they need it most! Wolves are a good thing...

  • @preton03 Whats it gonna take a child, dog, etc get attacked before you say hey its a bad Idea! What ever believe what you want but your wrong!

  • @DelistTheWolves We overpopulate this planet to the point we must kill everything that gets in our way. If we want a shopping mall we destroy large plots of land so people can walk around a big mall shopping for fur-coats and eating delicious chinese food in the food-courts. We shop for baby clothes all the time here b/c he just keep humping each other doggystyle, even men on men yuck, but we are overpopulating this Earth and no animal is safe anymore. That being said, you can't protect all!

  • @preton03 Well I can do My part!!! And as far as dude on dude shit Well guess your the pro in that field seeing as you seem to know so much about it. As far as everything else goes it's called evolution! We are constantly evolving,, And people like you that mess it up or just prefer not to change with the times

  • bull shit i seen one following a elk in newberry about 11 years ago. they are in the upper and the locals dont want to admit that they are in the area.

  • also, there are no black cougars......they dont exist............if its "black panthers" people are seeing then its either a leopard or a jaguar, and how possible is that?

  • ......and restore a hunting tradition that went back thousands of years before europeans settled the peninsulas......

  • deer numbers were always lower in the upper peninsula than the lower simply because there are more varied, abundant and stable food supplies for deer in southern michigan than there are in the U.P. moose and caribou were the dominat large game species in the UP in the presettlement and early settlement period of michigan right up to 1900.......if anything, the DNR needs to reintroduce woodland caribou to isle royale and the U.P. ...

  • i love how people say they are "endangering farmers".......have you even ever been to the U.P.? i live here and can tell you that agriculture is pretty sparse up here so there shouldnt be that many problems in the first place.......i could see problems happening downstate though....

  • wolves are killing all the deer in the state

  • @HarshawHunter

    No... not really

  • @HarshawHunter ever been to kent or kalamazoo county? you cant throw a rock into a cornfield without flushing a couple dozen deer. as for the UP, i just hit a 200 pounder that destroyed my bumper and grill driving just south of munising.

  • i live in the u.p. ironwood and i have seen packs many times the biggest 18. we bear hunt and our dogs were attacked hundreds of dollars and some still die. see deer kills ang droppings from wolves all over woods. they are killing everything and should be killed. they got rid of them once for a reason they are no good. have seen moose and tracks alot to. hope they strive ang get hunting season on them. also cougar sitings!!!!

  • @herbalcowboy123 i think you need to lay off the herb for a while, cowboy........

  • looks like them 3 have mange

  • Also reading on down, yes they are very dangerous, but why not cope and find ways to keep everyone safe? I mean what's the reason to kill them off? For farmers for example, there's ways to keep them away by using (using a cd of recorded wolf packs) a defensive howl to keep them away. If you are experiencing wolves in your area talk to your local community board and see if you can get something like that put in.

  • I think it's better off to leave them alone, if wolves weren't meant to be on this planet then God wouldn't have created them. They are beautiful animals and there is no reason to kill them.

  • How many wolves are enough? I love wolves but this isn't a black and white issue. We can't just say don't shoot them all, or shoot them all. We should find a amount that wolves and their prey can strive without competition, and to where it isn't dangerous to be in your own back yard, and enough to love without endangering children, who will eventually grow up without the respect for wildlife because they can't go out and enjoy it!

  • Go wolves !!!

  • Last year I had a wolf walk out on the road near where I bow hunt in Pickford MI. I was headed to meet up with my friend. Scared the shit outta me. I caught out of the corner of my eye and drew back thinking it was a deer. We sat there for a few seconds looking at each other. I didn't let my arrow fly (20 YRD shot) but now I regret it.

There are very few deer or coyotes in the area to hunt anymore. Me and my wife were small game hunting last week and the only thing we saw was wolf tracks.

  • I hate the arrogance of wildlife officials who talk about "controlling" and "managing" the wolf population. What they mean is "shooting" and "trapping." The supposed threat to the deer population is their rationale for promoting killing wolves but deer and wolves evolved together and don't need any assistance from bureacrats.

I agree with Ituomela that poachers are are a much bigger threat to deer than wolves are.

  • who is gonna manage the Muslims ?

  • @outpostflags

    LMAO. So funny yet true.

  • Im more concerned about Illegal Mexicans (25+ Million Mexican vs 5 million Legal Muslims, who are the highest rate of millionaires per capita)

  • I really liked your video journalism on this. I'm not sure those were wolves though. The fur didn't look like the stills you showed. But then again, maybe the YouTube pixelizing makes it look funky. Nice report.

  • this is bullshit what they say about wolves...its bullshit...there are more poachers then wolf kills by a long shot...people need to manage themselves more then the wolves..

  • the odds low...haha. I live on the Garden peninsula & we can hear them some nights...there's tracks all over & I seen one about 30 feet away from me this summer. So far..I don't think they should be controlled, so far there has been no problems. It would be ridiculous to 'control them'. We can live with the wolves....also cougars are seen through out the garden peninsula, my mom & grandma just seen the notorious 'black panther'. The DNR needs to stop denying...

  • I love wolves and I dont hunt but a hard fact is the human population is not decreasing. There is only so much room for wolves to inhabit. So if Wildlife Management says they need to cull the population, then i completely trust their decision as the best thing for the ecosystem. These people, along with the help and money from hunters, have done wonders in the past few decades in the US. Let them do their job. Stop protesting everything they do when they have proven how well their methods work.

  • @Celly222 the human population of the U.P. is draining away by the year..........in 100 years the population could be so low that the whole damn peninsula could be declared a national park.....weather thats a good thing or not depends on eye of the beholder

  • Woot! I camped in Baraga..

  • What happened to you not being a pussy? Maybe we need more wolves for people control eh? So what if they are out there and thriving? If one attacks ya by all means shot em, Ya don't like it, MOVE TO DETROIT! There were plenty of deer around when it was just deer n wolves.... You think wolves are the cause of the deer population? You are dense. I am tired of tools. . You idiots just want an excuse to kill one! Soon enough wolf hunting will be legalized, keep ur junk in ur pants!

  • @MsSarahKaes I think your 100% right! I live in Gaylord MI. and spend alot of time in the U.P. Wyoming and Yellowstone (our kids live in Jackson Hole and Bozeman) and the DNR in Yellowstone let Nature "Balance" things out, After we killed all the Bison and Wolves it got all screwed up now its "Balanced" out quite nice.

  • who's going to protect the moose from the wolf when the wolf proliferates to numbers beyond control. ??? will we need a bounty. are a moose program to replant like we did the wolf.???

  • Piss on the wolves! And piss all over the DNRE and USFWS too! 500 wolves my ass, I live in the U.P. and hear them every night and see them occassionally. There are FAR too many wolves in the U.P. no more deer to hunt and taking my dog for a walk is now a bad idea. Hell even letting me kids play in the yard is asking for trouble. We now have 500 moose and the DNRE want a season on them...what about all the God Damn wolves??? I'll shoot everyone I can. Something has to be done. Shoot them!

  • Good luck in finding a moose. Don't know about michigan, but in Montana the wolves are wiping out the moose......

  • I've lived in the U.P my whole life, seen a moose only once, never a wolf, and always deer! It's a tough argument, but If the wolves are eating well, and the deer population is decreasing, well that's nature. Although we like to think so, it is not our job as humans to control certain animal populations, unless of course your safety is at risk.

  • I saw a wolf on the side of the road on the way to Lake Superior State. I am POSITIVE it was a wolf because it was gray in color and was considerably larger than a coyote as I've seen coyotes before as well. However, I think something was wrong with the wolf because it was just standing there at the edge of the road... it wasn't even afraid of the cars, which was VERY strange. It was very, very cool, nonetheless.

  • dnr counted almost 400 wolves in chippewa county alone.. not to mention the populations almost triple across the river in soo ca.. they are defiatly healthy and thriving

  • Very cool,I hunted in paradise 7 miles up river from the bay years ago oldest cabin left on the tequamenon bowers lodge it was called, built in the 30s the creek says bowers on the land maps, moose and wolves is great ! good work ! hell the deer hunting was terrible moose will do better than deer up there ! glad to see wolves alive. fantastic ! they wont hurt a thing and what a good thing for true sportmen to hear a wolf howl along a stream in michigan ! cool ! fine work !

  • wolves & bears kill 80% of the moose & caribou in AK every year, but yet the antis ( cubicle hamsters) have a shit fit when the state shoots afew in remote areas. Hunters & non-hunters ..can learn alot by reading "Alaskas Wolf Man" by Jim Rearden, true story of a market hunter & govt wolf hunter, during the early days of the AK territory... He was the expert, the "experts" went to.

  • your nuts ! caribou please ! theres thousands ! this is michigan lady ! poachers hunters kill more than an wolf getta grip ! the best deer hunting here in our lower penensula wolves and moose in the U.P. this is so cool ! why kill wolves moutain lions dumb ass shit ive hunted all my life take deer if ya want, the others arnt that easily seen nor abundant, shooting bear wirth dogs bait, wolves lions with dogs ! laim ! guys with no nuts shoot these critters !

  • oh bull shit. The MDNR wont admit that they went overboard on the repopulation of timber wolves. this deer season, we didnt seen one buck. oh, but we seen a shit-ton of wolves, and dead deer carcasses. man it pisses me off. SAVE A BUCK, SHOOT A WOLF! goddammer.

  • or you can go hunting lions in africa with a bow and arrow, if you are a real man.

  • Comment removed

  • I live here dumbass, i know about 35 people in the MDNR who all the say the same thing. yeah, you probably live off some rooftop garden in NYC. Dont try to tell me, you live off the land, right, do you get wifi out at your cabin in the sticks?

  • Buckpole. Look buddy, I'm sorry. I removed my comment. Didn't mean to P' ya off. I'm in MI...not the city. Been here all my life. There are so many deer here I'd love to see wolves. The deer take 20% of our crops and we hit them in our trucks so often it's scary. Sorry. We're both living through the same winter and the same economy. I hope you and yours are safe and secure. If I was standing in front of you I'd be reaching out for a handshake.

  • it goes both ways. i hear arguments from both sides. i know downstate, the deer really hit the cornfields bad. but, up, its different. i really supposed its all about where your at. most guys up round here are wolf haters, most down there are wolf lovers. and buddy, i'd take your handshake. just nice to talk to another michigander.

  • your stupid and dickless !

  • yea, i go there every year, havent even seen a moose yet, over by paradise

  • The wolves are pretty much spread across the whole U.P. now and will most likely be in lower Michigan this winter when they can cross on the ice.

  • They've definitely made their way to our side of the border. I thought that I was hallucinating when I saw a wolf out country along the St. Clair river but our MNR guys say they're here.

  • the wolves wont migrate to the LP. its too densely populated. also its a completly different terrain than the western UP. the only moose your gonna see will be west of seney.

  • did he just whistle at the wolves? lol!

  • we have a deer camp in baraga the nabours say theres a wolf pack with 20 wolves everytime we go up we see or at least hear them howling at night theres tracks all over around the porcupine mountains and around the sturgeon river

  • 500 wolves in the U.P?.... not being able to see tracks? I cant go pretty much anywhere on mt. arvon n see wolve tracks and normal throught bird to the end of deer season i usually see quite a few... the DNR here loves to lie about wolves

  • DNR= DAM NEAR RUSSIA

  • What do you expect from the DNR Truth???

  • Does anyone know where the best places to see wolves and moose in michigan is? Or a couple of the best places

  • The best place to see Wolves, Moose and other Wildlife in Upper Michigan, would be Isle Royal which is an Island off the tip of the Upper Peninsula, theirs a TON of wild life their, you can camp on the Island for as long as you want, theirs a lodge. (or u can camp in a tent) Hiking, other activities, very beautiful!

  • There are both moose and wolves in the u.p. I seen a moose on highway 28. and have seen many wolf tracks as well.

  • My family has a cabin in the U.P. and we go up there about 3 times a year. I've seen a wolf once or twice, never seen a moose, and there was a black bear around our cabin about 6 years ago or so. I don't hunt but I still see a lot of deer in our area. I'm glad to hear that the wolf population is rising, though, They're beautiful animals.

  • I agree, wolves, bears, moose, otters, sand hill crain's, every creature, is fascinating, especially the Grey Wolf though I'd half to say. I'm glad their coming back personally.

  • thats were i live bitches

  • i would like to know the population of cougars that are in the UP

  • There is a website if you google cougars in michigan it should come up and possibly give you the info

  • @snowjumper29 mountain lions you mean? and many are here..wolves are every where coyote you name it the animals are here...

  • @snowjumper29 Ask the DNR, it's only 1

  • try chippawa co. You see and hear them all the time...

  • wolves should be welcomed back to their old homes. We need to make room for them all.

  • Wolves

  • I believe that the wolf count has grown. I have seen wolf tracks in both my hunting areas. I did not see the number of deer that I have in the past. The wolves are eating well,That does nothing for my children and I.I am wondering what other hunters in the U.P. have seen. Are your deer numbers down. Do you have wolves in your area. Is your feezer ben affected by the wolves.

  • Well what it comes down to is that wolves are more mobile hunters than humans, so they are taking more deer. The thing is, wolves have little other food options, and humans do. I'm sure there are enough deer for both species. Look for more urban hunts to spring up these days, because deer are much more comfortable around humans than wolves are. Where I live, in WI, we have a city bowhunt that is basically a cull. Whatever deer you see, you shoot. One guy shot 29 deer last year.

  • I seen a wolf more than a year ago on that same strecth near baraga but it was more redish. Ive heard them often as well to the north of me. As far as Moose the neighbor had a print on his land.

Ive seen a moose crossing down near covington as well.

  • saw a wolf just about everyday this rifle season

  • That moose towards the end in the still pictures looks haggard and worn out!! haha. I live in upstate New York and our moose population has skyrocketed in the past few years, so much so that on one stretch of highway, they've had to post Moose crossing signs because so many people have hit them with their cars, and i personally know one guy who hit one on a motorcycle!! He's lucky he isn't dead!!

  • Three words......BANG BANG BANG

  • there odds are a little off its more like 1 in 50 that you WONT see a wolf

  • besides, there need to be LESS whitetailed deer in the U.P. so the moose numbers can grow.

less deer = less meningeal worn = more moose.

  • got any sources for your "in depth" research on the subject??? you know, besides your personal animus?

  • Just goes to show that they're so called odds are way off. You want to see some wolves? I'll show you plenty. :) We set our figures to be way above what the DNR says. We figure they'res close to 1,000+. :)

  • Hello! Can you help me? I would want to know how many horses wolves kills every year in USA?? Send a link to my mail please were you got the info from. Best regards from Sweden.

  • About 50 in the usa so you can see how rare it is for a wolf to kill let alone catch a horse. Some are as powerfull as a cow moose
