  • I´m a guitar player and also play the bass once in a while, but this is so inpiring to become a full time bassist, have always admired this guy, good work G, keep it up

  • amazing

  • Nice!

  • You should start composing the music in children's shows so when they grow up they will want this instead of the garbage that's on the radio today.

    Great job man

  • Perfect bass sound!

  • 2:41 start the melodic thrash metal part

  • oh man, you're such a virtuous player. Hearing you playing leaves me breathless.

  • astronomy and music, my favorite combination ;) awesome job dude

  • what bass guitar is that?

  • if I can ever be half as good as you my goal as a bass player will be complete. That gave me chills you are really amazing!

  • where I can get this tab?

  • heyy can i download or get the audio somewhere??, i want to take this with me

  • Awesome, but I think it would sound better with a slower tempo

  • hi! what effect do you use after 5:55? :) btw i really enjoy your music and i'm waiting for your solo album ;)

  • @pixelharcos i guess that effect is reverse effect

  • This is extremely good composition and performing skills. I would never believe one can perform this on his own, if I wouldn't have seen the video.

  • No many how times i listen i will always be able to listen to this. It is genius.

  • Thank you so much for this beautiful song!!

  • dude you are like buckethead on bass

  • I hate how i have a stupid 4 string -_-

  • @GBagley have you ever heard of a chapman stick? I think I would die if you start playing one

  • is there a tab for this? it's nearly impossible to learn by ear for me

  • It sound like Dina Lam(Incantation) of Richard Bona and like victor Wooten ! Great job !

  • ahhhhh, the magic of 9 chords

  • notreble?

  • Exercicio Victor Wooten!

  • reminds me of jean baudin

  • amazing!

  • does it take special EQing to make your tapping stick out better? i have a fender jazz bass and a music man Sterling and the only way i can tap is if i tap the strings hella hard making the notes not sound as smooth as yours. is it because of my action or what?

  • @yomammaonastick Action is definately where i'd be looking, and neck relief

  • @yomammaonastick Lighter Gauge Strings Help Too.

  • how long time you needed to compose this song???

  • the beginning reminded me of hawthorn heights for some reason

  • Pleeeease... Tabs

  • You're… a BOSS!

  • This is so fucking brillant !

Awesome I cant get it ouf. I hope one day I can play like you ;)

  • @GBagley wow, great melody!

  • @GBagley liked favorited and shared that was amazing dude blew me away

  • @GBagley

It sounds like something from Wooten, I don't exactly remember which one. I think you were inspired by him.

  • @cajjum do u fricken know what ORIGINAL means? dumbass

  • you are awesome composer!

  • Love it

  • whats the tuning for this song?

  • @raunaqdas111 - Standard tuning. BEADG (though I only use the B-string once I think).

  • @GBagley Cool bro :)

  • can you link the download please!

  • @Thiscowgomoo Sorry for the late reply, didn't get any mail. Unfortunentaly youtube doesn't allow links. Copy that thing I typed to your browsers bar, delete the space and hit enter.

  • Download: bit.ly /gbagleyflightofneptune

  • that was sick, you are an amazing musician. btw that's a beautiful bass (even though I only like 4-strings, but that's my personal opinion when it comes to playing) nice job.

  • @LuchoMazzeo - Yes, it has active electronics.

  • What are some tips for writing songs like these for solo bass?

  • @Autobot71Ironhide - I usually just start playing around, and when you get something that sounds good, keep going with it. Build off of it. Try to imagine what you want it to sound like in your head, and then work towards being able to play that.

  • @GBagley

You should get a hold of Nintendo or another gaming company, there's a lot of Donkey Kong games that have melodic and deep bass lines like these.

  • @Autobot71Ironhide - *ring* *ring*, "Hello, Nintendo? Yes, I would like to play bass for your video game music".

Is that how you would do it? :)

  • @GBagley

    Yeah.

  • this is absolutely beautiful!!! how long did it take you to write this masterpiece?

  • @gman4904 - I don't remember...I worked on pieces of it, on and off for a while.

  • what is the secret of playing both hands on the neck?? i cant figure it out

  • @ttannia1 - There's not really a secret. Having low action and lighter gauge strings helps. Aside from that, lots of practice!

  • @ttannia1 It's practice. That and keeping your right hand parallel to the neck; also. holding the guitar or bass more upright makes it easier.

  • I'm the 75,000th viewer :D

    What do I win?

  • @Milanoir the video

  • @Milanoir - You win this comment! :)

  • this just makes me want to learn how finger tab on the bass now

  • It was cool, but did you mean to speed up in the middle?

  • tabs someone?

  • if you don't like this then you should figure out a way to poop in your own mouth, and choke on it.

  • lol I want the tabs for this :P

  • I shit myself at 1:35

  • @TheNAWorks Haha me too

  • i put this shitt on my ipod!

  • You must be enjoying it when u can produce that...im glad for you

  • nice solo, very nice.

    can u look mine?

    ofcourse, subscribe.

  • nice solo, very nice.

    can u look mine?

  • SO GOOD. :)

  • @teimaboy - Go for it.

  • @GBagley You know who Igor is you and him could create a band together

  • @GBagley I'll join that religion

  • that is just amazing

  • Nice Victor Wooten plagia.

  • @2moonsrock Exactly what I was thinking ;)

  • absolutely beautifull. you give me so much inspiration, thank you so much

  • @GBagley nice stuff! sounded like there might have been a couple of small of mistakes that you played through instead of starting over? 1:23ish a little trip & 1:55-2:00 a couple of wrong notes? not being a ass/troll, just want to know if those were mistakes or if thats how it is played? though i know its hard for some to admit making mistakes! but it shouldn't be for someone with your talent! anyways, its GREAT either way, just want to know if i am missing something! cheers, i'm a fan.

  • @Thegoodkingnado - Thanks! Hard to tell exactly which part you mean, but the part around 1:18 to 1:20 is correct, though a little messy (I always have the most trouble with that jump up to the high note). 1:55 is all correct, though that part is tough too and a few of the notes didn't come through super cleanly. I have another, older video of this piece on youtube as well that you can compare it to. I don't know offhand if I played it better or worse there, but it's worth checking out at least.

  • Truely a work of art, beautifully tuned. The beginning melody would be perfect for a beginning to a great soft metal song. Awesome bass by the way, its absolutly astonishing work.

  • In 12 Years, I hope I will play like you !!

  • I listen to this every day ...

  • I totally ripped this off of Youtube and put it on my iPod...

  • just wonderful

  • what tuning did you use for this?

  • @EthanMusicLover - Standard tuning. BEADG.

  • what strings do you have in this vid? are they the same DR-strings you said you have on some other vid? both versions with same strings?

  • @0235689741 - I'm pretty sure I was using Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Rounds in this video (my favorite strings now). The original audio recording would have been with DR HiBeams.

  • @GBagley Are you an author of this song? And where can i get the studio virsion?)

  • @randomnf - Yes, I wrote it. The original 'studio' version is the 2nd half of this video. Aside from that, there isn't a real studio recording of it.

  • @GBagley Wow.. its awesome) Did you write it under the impression of Metallica's Orion?)

  • @randomnf - Nope, not at all.

  • should file share this i want a copy lol

  • OMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGOMFG

    ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

  • I feel like your music communicates feelings and ideas, more so than many other performers. That song was absolutely touching.

  • fucking beautiful man just sounds so amazing

  • yea soo kool

  • Wait is this the songs name???? or the band??? can someone tell me who is it by

  • @taeyangalex This song's name is "Flight of Neptune" as per the video's title. GBagley wrote it himself.

  • Have you tabbed this?

  • After the first 20 seconds I had to pause and subscribe.

  • @damaged01 Had to do the same. :)

  • uhh why would you cover the pickups with would? does it give you a better sound?

  • @bassplaya137 it doesnt change the tone whatsoever its purely aesthetic, wood doesnt block magnetic fields

  • holy shit how much did that bass run you? looks like a mahogony body and picups are wooden. good shit.

  • @SATANfuckedMary666 - Yes, Mahogany body wings (Ash center block), and the pickups have rosewood covers.

  • LEGEND!

every vod of you makes me happy over 2 years ago !!!

  • @kooli0 whats wrong?

  • @kooli0

    Too bad you're a turd.

  • i wish i could download this. its so beautifull and calming, i feel like im in a nirvana like pain and suffering doesnt exist man i know its weird but that was so great!

  • Is it normal to have a bit of buzzing when you tap on a bass? Or is it just a feel you get after tapping for a while that removes the buzzing?

  • i wonder if i could do this with a Ibanez GSR206.

  • @PennybagDarrell Theoretically. If you have nice strings and a not-so-bad amp, you can.

  • @DiFFicult0CURE sick. too late though i bought a schecter stiletto custom 6. its amazing.

  • @PennybagDarrell ive heard good things bout the schecter stiletto 6's :) i've got a lakland skyline itt's absolutely incredible :)

  • PLEASE MAKE TABS!!!!

  • tabs plz and your awesome

  • TAPPINGS OF NEPTUNE!

Just can be from another planet!

  • KEN LAWRENCE !!!!!!

    really nice job :D

    sub ;)

  • Welcome to my favourites...

  • Beautiful and evocative, an inspiration to all of us bass players.

More than the bass itself, I also am curious about your amp and recording rig. I can't get the tonal response or amplitude you get from tapping, seemingly effortlessly (I know you work hard at it). What preamp and DAW / plugins are you using? Love it, play on

  • @Hopspop - Thanks! I'm plugged into a TC Electronics M-One multi-effects thingy, to get a little phaser/chorus effect for this. Then it goes straight to a USB audio preamp into my computer for recording. Pretty simple setup. Having light gauge strings (Thomastik Infeld Jazz Rounds) and low action helps with tapping.

  • oh my god man this is one of the most beautiful pieces i have ever heard it seriously made me cry. i have to find where this is recorded!

  • want the original recording on cd!

  • Always cool to hear (and SEE) it! :-)

  • what's up with the pickups they look like blocks of wood

  • @KincaidBass - They have rosewood covers.

  • @KincaidBass you may be seeing the stripe which is common in through necks where two separate peaces of are applied to either side of the neck. If you not you are seeing the black thing which is a soap bar pickup. They are very common in active pickups

  • what kinda amp do you use

  • this vid rocks man, i love that tone, and the trippy reverse shit in the middle of the audio recording at the end is nice too

  • very nice, i was thinking this was a real song so i go to limewire to download but it didn't work and i look to your description WOW, you write this, amazing :P

  • like a boss.

  • luv it

  • I want to learn how to play bass and this just gives me something to aspire to i'm subscribing and i hope you put out more videos :)

  • incredible, you are fantastic

  • You're pretty awesome man!! I wish could be able to play like some day seeing I'm learning as of present.. In my eyes, the 6 string looks and sounds more beastly for some reason. But I'm learning on a 4 string at the moment :(

  • you sir are fucking awesome

  • if you make tabs of this and sell them you could be rich :D

  • hey where are you playing?

  • i wish this was on itunes so i could buy it

  • If there are any dislikes, it's because they were drooling over this song and hit the wrong button.

  • Terrific tapping btw! This was 2 years ago? When does the album come out? :)

  • care to tab for us :PP

  • What in the name of Odin?!? Sweet stuff man

  • awsomg!! beats bieber!!!, but sir do you have something like a tab? coz im kinda bad in ear playing.
