rispiro senza diaframma e significa : rispirare naturalmente ..come quando dorme .senza dare nessun forza perche quando canto il diaframma si allarga natutalmente , se rispirando TIRANDO il diaframma , significa che e gia consumato il diaframma......

rispira per dare la forza , per essere pronto a cantare......

Grande Gigli: cantare sempre con il fiato "sopra" l'arco del fiato. Nei pianissimi serve solo l'assorbimento, nei forti il sostegno del diaframma.

I prefer a teacher that sings in a way that inspires you rather then one that sounds like your worst nightmare which many teacher´s do. My old teacher said that only in singing someone can flunk badly in their attempted to become a singer and then be a professor in voice. Think if the same thing was possible for a doctor!! My search for inspiration comes from listening to the great recordings of the singers that I like.

@Bjoerrelli We're saying the same thing! As I said, a Real teacher must be able to give examples AND explain.

"The worst nightmares" one are just Bad singers who become Bad teachers. To me they are dangerous criminals.. and unfortunately, there's loads of them!!

The tricky thing is to find a good singer, inspiring, with a good technique - who is also a good teacher, so able to explain what's happening - not just give examples with Their voice. There are very few, but they do exist.

What he actually describes as "without the diaphragm" is a body sensation about how he works with his breath to make a "floating sound" - "sull' fiato" (not a mezza di voce, that's something else) without giving extra "appogiatura" on the diaphragm.

Then, giving a second example about when he would work with his breath controling the air pressure with the help of extra work from his diaphragm. Ok, he's not a teacher, he was Just one of the best singers ever!

@Bjoerrelli I don't agree. A Real teacher must be able to give examples AND explain what's happening. Because every body is different. One has to learn how his/her body is feeling when it's right. It's a "bank of sensations" that a student acquires through the years of training. And that's what you are looking for, otherwise the teacher can just train ersatz of him/herself. And that's not the "person they have in front"'s voice then.

@RinchenDawa1 there is no such thing as mezza di voce. mezza voce is how you say it, and it has nthing to do with without the diaphragm. mezza voce or sotta voce is twice as supported with half the voice. it is ten times more difficult then singing full, it is lighter, somewhat of a mix, and has 50 times the intensity

@bodiloto La première fois que je l'ai entendu ,je fus favorablement impressionné,mais très vite,je m'en suis lassé.Quand on a trop de facilité on ne cherche pas au fond de soi.Si j'aime Callas c'est parce-qu'elle se bat contre sa voix même pour offrir le meilleur d'elle.Je n'entend pas çà chez Gigli.Caruso avec son côté rustique me plait beaucoup plus,son timbre aussi d'ailleurs.L'art n'est pas qu' avoir une voix exceptionnelle:Le pur-sang ne fait pas le jokey,même s'ils remportent la course !

Sul YT sono pochi che parlano come te e me senza fanatismo,ognuno difende il suo idolo,gia su YT viviamo nella 3 guerra Mondiale cioé, regnano l'odio,fanatismo,la mancanza di rispetto,insulti caddono dal cielo come pioggia d'estate.

@bodilotoSalut mon ami.Je tiens à préciser quelque chose.Ce que j'entends de Gigli pour moi n'est pas sul fiato.La voix est blanche,détimbrée.Pour moi,sul fiato,c'est posé sur le diaphragme,mais pas appuyé avec.La couleur même atténuée doit rester présente,ainsi que le vibrato.Ce qu'il ne fait pas.C'est précisément ce que je déteste dans son chant:c'est laid ,ce n'est même pas une demi-teinte,c'est un piano de fainéant! Quand Christoff détimbre,c'est posé et quasi sublime:toute la différence !

@bodiloto Justement,Christoff était basse et il est théoriquement plus difficile pour une voix grave d'alléger.Mais prenons Fleta:C'est un meilleur exemple.Sa voix est corsée,pourtant il sait la retenir jusqu'à l'ultime pianissimo:Lui sait chanter sul fiato;Celà reste chaud,vibrant,le son est sur la poitrine.Comment peux-tu mettre en balance ce travail abouti et cette ébauche?Je te parle en conscience ,pas en dilettante.Je crois que tu mésestimes mes connaissances et mes capacités d'anlyse.

@bodiloto Alors pourquoi écouterais-je tous ces documents au son parfois déplorable:Quand ce n'est pas trop distordu,je comprends.Avant,les voix étaient construites sur le roc.Parfois c'était un peu brut,mais solide.Nous sommes arrivés à l'aire du préfabriqué:çà casse vite!Nous ne produisons pas,même dans la culture,du durable,mais du jetable.Aujourd'hui,à 50 ans,et parfois avant,les voix sont cuites! Je consomme très peu de voix actuelles,ne t'en es-tu pas aperçu?

Take it easy--it's a scientific fact that if you're breathing your diaphragm is being used.

That said, Gigli was describing his sensations and we should try to understand what he meant, even if his description of the anatomical events can be nit-picked. To my ear the difference is in how much breath he lets escape with the sound combined with the actual pressure of his breath support....

For goodness sake, obviously anyone who is singing is using the diaphragm, but clearly to anyone with half a brain that's not what Gigli is trying to describe, but more a nuance of the physical sensation as he produces that particular tone - a change in focus of where the voice is placed/ supported.

I find Rexeterna's comment ridiculous and arrogant because it implies Gigli didn't understand this and that he/she knows better.

hmmm.... this is interesting. i think he's got the classification right but the process wrong---you're never NOT using the diaphragm, it's just not as prevalent in the mezza voce.
