Seeing George in concert is a memory that will be one of my best for the rest of my life. Youtube doesn't come close to the real thing for a true fan. There are moments when he hits the right notes. And his burb during White Lightning is still spot on. I love him and will continue to go to his shows until he hangs up his hat.
@sloofuss I would go to a George Jones concert over anyone except Merle Haggard. At this point its more about the atmosphere than the performance, but there are moments in the live show that can never be duplicated on Youtube. George Jones is still the best.
Mroldtime is right, ol Jonsie could come out on the stage fartin up a storm, add some fiddle music to it, and we'll call it a day, and I'd pay to go see it. I'm Canadian...but he's one of the treasures from the US that I'd pay to see every year. I can't wait until he comes back. Georgie should only quit when Georgie feels like it.
Love George! But some artists need to know when its time to call it quits... His voice is nowhere near performing level anymore..... But I do like him!!!!
I don't think George should EVER call it quits. He is almost all thats left of REAL traditional Country Music. He may have lost a lot of his vocal ability, but he enjoys what he is doing, and the fans still love him for who he is, and what he stands for. If they pushed ol' George out in a wheelchair, and all he did was tell a story or two from his long career, I would STILL pay to go see him! He's the last of the breed, we should all enjoy him while he is still around!
