hallo Dr. Best, you said "Tired, Feel Older Than You Actually Are,dry skin, sensitivity to cold, cold hands and feet",how to know what is than solution?
@miki7you It is a good idea to have your thyroid tested, preferably to include the free T3 and T4 hormones rather than just a TSH test. In mild cases of hypothyroidism, simply avoiding sodium benzoate, avoiding outside sources of estrogen and estrogen-like compounds, and getting regular intense exercise will help. Thyroid medication is needed in some cases, but not everyone does well on Synthroid and may get better results with Armour natural thyroid or drugs like Cytomel.
I'm a 45 yr. old female and have been fretting over the gradual thinning of my hair for the past few years, but particularly the last couple of years. I have high blood pressure and take medication, I'm not the best exerciser and have a less than optimum diet (I love my sweets). I gasped out loud at the end of the video when it explained the part about the sodium benzoate (sp?).......in DIET SODA....I drink SO much of it. I vow to drink more water....
@calvikingchick Sodium benzoate is probably a common cause of people having classic hypothyroid symptoms when they have normal thyroid blood tests. I've seen a number of people who start to lose weight after they stop drinking soda of all kinds - including diet soda.
Thyroid problems don't always cause weight gain, but another common cause of fatigue and "feeling old" is adrenal dysfunction. Chronic stress can wear out the adrenal glands and produce severe fatigue, impaired wound healing, "brain fog", aches and pains, and other symptoms. Besides controlling stress, nutrition, and low-intensity exercise can help with adrenal recovery and improve things considerably within a few days in many cases.
