I would have voted Obama's sorry ass out of office for his stupid clash for clunkers program alone. Now with the economy sucking ass and the debt that keeps on rising just gives me an even bigger reason to vote him out of office in 2012.
@panzerkampfwagen123 i like the way you think, i have a 91 eclipse that wont run(not getting spark) replaced brain and distributor. everyone around is pushing me to have it scrapped. they actually planed to take it and have it done behind my back. i found out and told them it would be in there best interest not to. parents have 2010 camaro and i told i was gonna take the camaro to be scrapped if they did and i meant it. btw im 20 and bought and put about $1000 into the car
Its a shame, which an awesome classics raped by the cash for clunkers scam. I have a 420sel and I would never destroy it for some governmental idea to save the economy. Too bad that car could have been an awesome classic.
Shoulda stripped all the parts you wanted to keep/resell before you took it to the dealer, then u wouldn't have had to pay for them at the scrap yard....just my opinion, I took in a van to the dealer with the whole thing stripped, but I "drove it onto the lot" so they took it!!! LOL This program SUCKED! Too many AWESOME cars destroyed, but if no one wanted to pay you $4000 for it, then they just have no voice after that....just my opinion (oh, for those that will ask, I took in a 87 chevy van)
Thats me in the video. Do I miss the car? Yes. Do I want another one? Yes. Do I regret doing this? No. I was spending all of my time and money in this car. It always needed something. My mechanic who only works on these cars told me to light it on fire. This car cost me my relationship with a woman. I am so much better off with my new car that saves me on gas and time. I got a new car so cheap it was too good. to pass up. Yes its only a base model Mazda 3 but it was totally worth it.
@E150GT what a regarded comment, u traded in a MERC for a MAzda, a car so crap in SA that not even our COPS drive it! Keep telling that to yrself dude, you got ripped .
Oh sweet. You took a car that was already fully paid for, and bought a shitty Mazda that won't even make it for as long as your old car, and you're making payments on it every month. You also took parts from your old car after it's already been at the junkyard and you paid for them...as opposed to taking the parts off before killing it? John, you need to drink some silicate and watch as your engine seizes up. It appears that it is starting to already, based on your logic.
@SeberHusky I admit I do miss that car but its more than just the money. I was was tired of staying up late to fix stuff so I could get to work the next day or bumming a ride for 3 days while I waited on parts to arrive. These are fine vehicles which can go many miles but they are expensive and not practical if its your only source of transportation. I have another now but I dont rely on it to get me to work and I am much happier. I didnt expect to buy those parts back but I happened to see them
@SeberHusky So I bought them and made money on them on ebay. I do feel bad that I sacrificed that car but I am much better off. I have a reliable vehicle and an old mercedes to toy with. The payment on the mazda is cheap compared to the parts and fuel I spent on the benz. The mazda is almost payed off now and I have only 55k on it and expect to have it for many years to come.
should have sold it to me! =O i buy em all the time, we have 2 300D's 1 300sdl and a 300E station wagon, and we have a wrecked 300D...we buy mercedes all the time fix em up a little and find ppl who need a car badly and sell to them.
Believe me that car was only worth about a grand. I was pulling the best parts on it. The were major problems with that car that were gonna cost me big. There were 2 nice 420sel's with about 100k less miles than mine that were cherry. I got as many parts off them as I could to start my $400 300sd project.
It's shocking the kind of cars people are turning in for this program. That car could bring well over the $4,500 max that the person that traded it in got for it. I love driving the '70 and '80 model Benz These cars were way ahead of there time and the technology in them is amazing for that time which makes them big collectors now. I seen one in worse shape than that sell for $7,000. Idiots, stupid program.
