This is one of my favorite renditions. A very unique, beautiful, soulful, and respectful performance of our revered anthem in the New Orleans jazz theme.
i think this is the best rendition of the national anthem that i have *ever* seen. the folks who say the band was off don't get NOLA dirge music. That was the point. Clint is awesome, just discovered him today. Kudos to whoever picked them (though they may not have known what they were in for!)
This was probably one of the worst renditions of the national anthem I have ever heard. The rhythm between the singer and the band was non existent. The sax and trumpet players come in way too edgy randomly in the song. Before all of you pounce on me, I get the culture, I like blues music, and i get tradition and excellence. This was an out of tune, rhythmically challenged butchering of our National Anthem. This isn't because I am bitter we lost. This is because I am a lover of music.
UGH im so glad they didnt have some glamed over pop sensation sing the national anthem...i think with clint it gave us true pride...i was actually one of the band members...i was impressed with the performance
i was one of the 1500 band members standing on that field while he sung that national anthem, and quite honestly i wish we would've played it instead. we actually played america the beautiful right before this, but sadly it wasn't shown. it was awesome to be there though!!
i too was on that field. i was very disappointed, i have heard them so much better than that. but i don't think the bands should have played it. the entire high school band pageant was a mess and sounded worse. i understand not everyone is a great band, but there is a reason the pageant wasn't televised. most of those bands should not have been there.
i get it..they are a world renowned band.. but my god.. that was horrendous.. there was no pitch.. no tune .. no .. anything .. i mean i get putting your own spin on it.. but it didnt even resmemble the national anthem. its is supposed to be a dignified march.. stop butchering our songs!
You have to be one of the most negative & disrespectful people on Youtube. It seems you have nothing better to do with your time then to go from video to video, leaving negative, rude comments on everything. Here's an idea; if you don't like them, quit watching the damn videos! They are here for people to enjoy, and if you don't enjoy them, then go elsewhere. Its obvious you hold your own opinion in the highest regard, but I for one, do not. So lay off, & go do something productive for a change.
really?because i didnt think this performance lived up to their standards,im negative? i love this group but they disapointed, simple as that. that halftime show was not good. 4 of the HS bands apologized to us for not having the music memorized.i thought it was funny because nobody, even the participants thought it was good. disrespectful implies im out of line when im simply stating an opposite opinion.if you dont like my opinion, stop paying attention.its no different than you posting. chill
I wasn't necessarily referring to this specific comment, but to the many negative comments you've made on many other videos on youtube. There is a big difference between just saying you don't like something, and taking it to the point of being disrespectful to the people you're commenting about.
I'm not getting all worked up, and don't need to "chill", I'm just pointing out that I see a lot of comments by you on youtube, and I have yet to see one that didn't belittle or demean someone in the video. Honestly, I'm not trying to start a big thing here, but like I said, it just seems like you make a lot of negative comments and not very many positive ones. But w/e; just making an observation. I guess I just feel like you can disagree with out being disrespectful...anyway, have a GREAT day!
Im not?! i think people start stuff.. the same way i do. I happen to think that their pregame was not up to their world class standards.. so yea.. i mean it is what it is. i didnt personally think either osu or lsu did great shows but.. it is what it is. we had far better shows and your spanish or latin show was far better than the armed forces.. but it is what it is. i wish we both woulda brought more entertaing stuff to really get the crowd going more
Fair enough...I really wish we would have done our Journey Show (even though Georgia performed an eerily similar show at the Sugar Bowl lol). I still think the tank was pretty bad ass though haha...
i guess.. i mean the tank was.. cool.. but its been done before.. i liked your journey show (who can dislike journey). the show we did was a combo of two.. and we couldnt do the entire superheroes due to copyright infringement on TV and without our video boarda to show the logos, it lost some effect.. oh well .. how bout we agree to meet again.. next year.. orange bowl?
yea I know the tank was done before. LSU did it decades ago, put to drill by the same man who designed our pregame. And I'd prefer Capital One.....at least we could go to Disney World....
Fantastic performance! Respectful. Dignified. Powerful. And a knockout finale. The rich tradition of New Orleans as the source of all great American music is upheld.

To the people that disliked this performance:
You obviously need to spend less time listening to top 40 and more time trying to search for some semblance of a soul within yourselves.
This performance represented everything that New Orleanians are-
Raw, Honest, Powerful and Passionate.
Everything America is scared of.
Do us a favor- be one less asshole urinating in our streets and drinking our beer during Mardi Gras.

Well put. This was no gimmick. Just a powerful performance by Maedgen contrasted by the reserved but resilient PHJB.
