I had it done on right lateral meniscus. Great surgeon, and was running after 4 weeks. 100% after a few months. Wouldn't even know that I had surgery now. I play high intensity soccer and other things and have zero inflammation ever, or pain ever.
@mrforest123 Had torn lateral meniscus on right knee. Football injury while getting tackled. Played rest of game, swollen that night. Eventually got surgery like 6 months later, I could walk fine but certain things would make it hurt like a full blast soccer kick or punt of a ball, and horizontal body weight hyperextension of the knee. More popping then usual as well..
I am getting partial lateral and medeial meniscectomy on the 23rd, I travel alot so I do a whole lot of walking, so I am worried about getting back to normal. How long did it took to get back to normal?
I had a partial meniscectomy performed on the medial meniscus. Almost back to 100% now, and the Physicians Assistant said I could start running now. But my Physical therapist told me to wait another two months! I've tried jogging, and it gets a bit sore.
I really want to get it back up to strength, because I'm trying to enlist in the Army as a paratrooper. And paratroopers are particularly susceptible to knee injuries.
@FatalSlaughter Are yo back to 100% Now? I messed mine up a year ago and it just slipped again today. I didn't have enough money for surgery since i was covered but I also want to enlist when I graduate. What is your condition now?
That was the best example video Ive seen on this procedure!! I had my left kneed one in December 1999....10 years later Ive not had any real issues apart from a little popping from time to time. I like to cycle as much as I can these days, but had to give up dancing because of the twisting and turning!!.. The knee just cant handle it anymore.
I just had this surgery done 4 days ago on my medial meniscus. It was elective, I had the tear for about a year and a half, and even though I had the clicks, grindings, and popping, I chose to finally get my cartilage cleaned out to prevent it from getting worse.
I thought I would be walking by now, but I can't. I hope I don't develop any new pains, I don't want to exchange my old ones for new ones. Also- any surgery is risky, I still have a lot of pain from this, rather minor surgery.
i had partial medial meniscus removed for similar reasons. had 75% knee function before surgery and 40% after. I was a runner. Would have chosen to not do the surgery had i known i would be worse off. Maybe physical therapy can help us both?
Wow. I had this surgery done in August of this year. Even today, I'm still having pains from the surgery, but it's definitely better than it was pre-surgery!
I had this done back in August of 2008. Third day post surgery was the worst pain, but it only lasted a day. I played softball previous to my surgery. A month or so later I was playing again, and still do. I'm working on my 3rd season post surgery. I had completely torn my ACL 5 years prior to surgery. I was constantly in pain. No I jog every day. It still get uncomfortable and I use precaution, but it was the best thing I could have done, nothing like before.
