@rhynlock11 they did but they changed up the whole story and the way it leads up to the third game. Actually you know what, I think its a completely knew perspective on it but kinda forces silent hill in a different direction.

Alessa is born (7 years) Dahlia's ritual > Cheryl is born (7 years) Events of Silent Hill 1 > Heather is born (17 years) Events of Silent Hill 3 Harry raised Heather as Cheryl. That's why in Silent Hill 3 when Heather gets the happy birthday phone call, the guy congratulates her for being 24 and 31 years old. It's also why the birthday card says 14+7+17=38 14 is the time it took for Alessa to return to a single existance, 7 is the time it took for Cheryl, and 17 is Heather's age.

Alessa re-incarnated herself by giving birth....to herself creating a girl who has both her (Alessa's) memory and the newborn.

so she gives birth (to herself) 2 times. If she hadn't done this and kept living as Alessa she would have been 31, if she stayed as Cheryl she'd be 24, now she's (technically still Cheryl) Heather who is 17.

That very much reminds me of Alma from "F.E.A.R.", except that Alessa can't telekinetically melt people's flesh, leaving just a charred skeleton amidst blood EVERYWHERE.

I know that your coment is old.

But, yeah, well, Alma can't create living, breathing alternate worlds covered with blood, (yes, with or without having to telekinetically melt people's flesh) rust and creepy monsters. And Alma can't survive third degree burns spread all over her body considering that she died 6 days after they "pulled the plug". Alessa didn't even die at all.

But Alma is a great character too-- liquefying people'sflesh is just AWESOME.
