  • ポール・ギルバートはファンタジスタである!

  • rippin!

  • Wicked Playing

  • hey, someone knows were can I download this gig

  • He needs to get rid of that horrible distortion... too much treble

  • @captainamazingg

I agree, my favorite Gilbert song though.

  • Tone different than his usual, but extremely well fitting for the mood of the song. Awesome stuff right here.

  • Paul's hands move too fast for the video feed to keep up.

  • Nice way to let the audience know the rusty boat is sinking with that deep flange part :D.

  • love this song, but is his tone different or something in this video?

  • @Fendershred50 yea man i think hes playing through a little fender practice amp with all his pedals going through it, because there weren't any actual amps haha!

  • its sounds like a funk bcoz its a fusion of blues and rock..and paul is a master of it..

  • AWESOME.

  • ooohhh . la kago le salio mejor ke en el cd .. impresionante !

  • love him

  • PG is GOD

  • wow pentatonic madness that was some sweet old blues

  • Sounds more like funk to me.

  • in the "Get Out Of My Yard Instructional DVD" he calls it "funkatonic scale"

  • take the fucking cotton out of your ears then.

  • very good riff!!!

  • the only problem i have with paul is that i he has no bad music so i sit here finding every song he ever made

  • I hope to be like him in 40 years

8 hours a day? Oh yeah

    PLUS I have marfans

    (Y)

  • u make mafans sound like a gift...that shit sucks

  • There are 2 reasons why I play guitar. One, For the music. And 2 because its a way of co oping weith Marfans. Question: Do you have it? o.0

  • yea i do but im lucky mine isnt severe. i play the guitar too but i do it solely for the love of the music.

  • Well consider that its eaiser for us to do barred chords :D. Its not much as coping but look at it this way, we have a natural advantage over 'regular' guitar players. Look at the way Paul does his strecthes!

  • thats true never looked at it that way

  • No problem lol

  • What i would have given to be there...

  • 1:58 Laney vc30-212?

  • VOX amp

  • modern day Eddie Van Halen...beautiful and the faces make the man lol priceless

  • lol ya i love his face and hes a beast

  • i personally think paul gilbert had the best tone out there. its not as good as usual here i agree but its still sounds awesome.

  • well, he is one of the fastest guitarist, and he don't need as much overdrive or gain like many other guitarists (vai, malmsteen, MAB etc.) because he plays fuckin clean, and this is why i love his tone, too

  • Vai isnt fucking clean? What are you smoking?

  • its harder to play clean with more distortion every indiscrtion in you playing is brought out, the reason gilbert doesnt use much is because thats his sound.

  • it depends. With more distortion, you get more compression. Wich means unmuted strings will sound more, but it also means that it's less noticeable if a note is not played correctly. While with lesser distortion you've got to be precise - 'cus you need that for the sustain and for the notes to sound right.

In the end though - both Vai's and PG's tone requires good playing. Especially since they've got so much mids, and they probably play pretty loud - they cut through.

  • stuntguitar i kinda agree with u pg didnt use "that great" distortion cus i went to g3 and o my his tone was awsome he should of used sumthing like that set up then he did there but fuck what a song it sounds so sick..

  • damn i didnt think he could get any more badass.

but pg with distortion is amazing.

and he always has so much fun with it.

  • Gilbert always looks like he's having a fucking blast when he's playing.

  • that is one of manyreasons why he is my favorite

  • i love his tone

  • Sounds almost like the guitar was directly connected to a pc or something lol

  • 69's chicago jazzy riff for the intro , cool

  • my bad i only got that idea b/c thats what he said on the dvd

  • He had the best, worst tone ever..Hahaha. He's sounding better now that he's using Marshall though.

  • yeah i agree. i always thought he used such a horrible tone b/c he could, and still sound perfectly amazing when shredding.

  • Good point. I've always thought that Paul's tone was really ugly sounding, but at the same time, really raw and cool. To be honest, I don't think I would enjoy his playing as much if he changed it.

  • my fav guitar

  • Flawless performance.

It sounds like he turned his "tone" nob about 3-4 times around.

  • he uses laney amps to get the sound

  • wrong!!!

he used laney amps in the past

now he turned into marshall amps, he uses the Vintage Modern Marshall

  • He used a Laney amp on the GOOMY album.

There he was using a Laney amp - you can definitely tell.

  • this was a few years ago hes using a laney but all his tone is coming from pedals see 1:57

  • no your wrong jack ass....he uses laney when he can....he likes the marshall head but the laney cabinet....do some research before trying to call someone out

  • amazing, love this song ;)

  • if you look at some his videos where he's talking about picking/pick attack, you see how much he angles his pick...and part of doing so gives his tone this scratchy sound...i'm thinking that's where some of this 'distortion' sound comes from, that on top of regular dist. tis my opinion :)

  • The amount of distrotion on that thing is ridiculous! Sounds expensive.

  • what do u mean? paul uses little disirtion

  • Can you seriously not hear that, in general yes ussually he dosn't use many effects but in this case there's a really strong fuzzy sort of sound running simultaneously over a clean tone. Unless that is if your refering to my spelling mistake 'distrotion' instead of 'distortion', I know it was a dickhead mistake.

  • thatd be his pinch harmonics and muting alot of the notes, cuz you can hear the unmuted notes really clear

  • great song

  • i want to meet paul gilbert. he is the best guitarist ever, he shreds more technically then anyone (besides yngwie) but put more feeling tto it then anyone. the presence of meeting paul woul;d make me gain like10 years of guitar practice

  • such a compelling and emotive song.

  • it was more than an honor to meet this man. hes truly the god of guitar.

  • He is my Gof, I love him!

  • he uses a lotta distortion but uses his volume knob for less distoted (cleaner) sounds and tubescreamer for when he needs even more gain. He uses little to no reverb or delay to hide notes behind and he's so clean...

  • lol he doesnt use a tube screamer

  • he used a keeley tubescreamer and sometimes a fulltone overdrive! Check the racer x forum he has been using one for the last 2 years!

  • yea, but when i saw him play all he used was his DD-6 and a marshall ;)

  • cowl, I couldn't see him live coz he came to europe when i had exams. :( But I'm shure he used tubescreamers before... but he sounds like him through any setup (even through a clean amp)

  • wow how did he play without the guitar

  • i dunno man... he's THAT good. ;)

  • that guitar is sooo sweeeet!

  • he has a distortion almost like VH... but not quite... it's bordering on overdrive... and is so tasty...

  • i dont think his tone is anything liek eddies but hey thats your opinion! the one thing i got against PG is that with the amount of distortion he uses you could hide an elephant in there! haha. but i love hi other wise! rele great player

  • PG uses very little distortion

custom phase/flange maybe but not dst (not for over a decade anyway)

  • little distortion!? you sure?...meh.......!

  • yeah, he usually has the knob between 6 and 8 for lead (depends on which ghl amp head he is using)

and turns his volume knob down for clarity

although get out has tons of distortion though

  • yep, gilbert has the brown sound

  • Now that's the kind of distortion I love. And part of it is Paul's skill. It's crunchy yet clean. Love the tone!

  • Sweet tone!

  • OMG, amazing indeed....

  • i wonder how he plays that fast with the guitar so low

  • Easy. He's really, really good.

  • his arm are like 3 miles long is how

  • My guitar is slightly lower than that and i can play fast.

  • Gilbert totaly Ripps in this song

  • SIMPLY FLAVORPAUL... :D

  • i wish i was there feels like such an intimate gig

  • fucking love it! cant find a decent tab so I guess I'll just have to learn it myself, or track down PG himself for a few lessons :p

  • haha i know right man haha

    take it easy bro

  • OK. thanks barclaytom

  • I was there, got in free. tehee

  • oh god tell us where to get this tab. im with siwamatti.

  • Does anybody know where i can download this tab????

  • Learn it by ear, its not that hard, the main theme of the song is in E minor pentatonic, then about 48 seconds in the backing changes to an A then a B where he plays a big run in A Mixolydian, quite hard to play so inprovise that part or play the backing chord.

Only took me a week to learn the basics of it by ear

  • everyone keeps asking that. you can get them for free by searching google or any decent search engine.

  • this is the most ''paul'' song of the album

  • hahaha what a champion song.

  • paul gilbert is so fucking cool

  • Paul Gilbert id god

  • Great performance!

  • This isn't wierd, this is goddamn funky! I love that man!

  • You're right!...a good way of putting it!...a shredder with soul!!Great!!

  • i love him. he's my favorite guitarist.

    finally a shredder with soul.

  • Thanx this is cool.Is there more to this?

  • His new album is great! Paul has some of the best picking techniques out there. along with Shawn Lane.

  • amazing.... love this song!!! and hes always even better live than on the album (which is saying a lot) he is my favorite guitarist and in my opinion one of the top 3 out there in that genre

  • His new album is strange and mind boggling.

  • that song is the oddest song i've heard from gilbert.

  • Incredible, as usual

  • Thanx for posting this.

Can never get enough of Gilbert
