  • Nice. I heard there was a heard drum solo in the song, but the song seems challenging just over all...

  • @ezio1462 Thanks Ezio. I just checked out your channel and one of your vids. For 3 weeks into it I am impressed....Nick

  • @readyeddy101 Thank you very much =D

  • Great cover ! I am some what old and still play this, the crash accents were not so that the average person would ever notice . Vic F.

  • @3521124156 Thanks. I really appreciate your kind comment. Thank you very much for watching Vic. Btw, any relation to Vic Firth?

  • @readyeddy101 Yes ,Thank you Vic jr.

  • IM 52 YEARS OLD I HAVE THAT RECORD. FIRST TIME I HAVE WATCHED SOMEONE PLAY JUST THE DRUMS. DUDE YOU ARE KICKEN SOME DRUMS. THANK YOU, VERY MUCH YOU KICK ASS . FROM TENNESSEE

  • @sundance2659 Thanks so much for checking the vid out and taking the time ti comment. I appreciate your kind words. I am 56 so we both came out of an era of great music. Been to Tennesse. Great state..Went to Knoxville and Nashville back in '82 with my friend on motorcycles. All the way from MA...Thanks again ...Nick

  • @sundance2659 CHECK OUT MY VERSION OF WIPEOUT

  • Would you mind doing a video tutorial? And by the way, great drumming! :)

  • AAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPE OUT

  • Why did you skip the cymbals at 1:47? Other than that, good playing :D

  • @agaen96 Wow...good catch........I never realized that.....from that point on I missed the crash accents a few times and once in the at :35 mark as well. Thanks for your observation and kind comment........Nick

  • @readyeddy101 No problem, thanks for putting the video out :)

Gonna learn the song myself, and your video will come in handy :P

  • @agaen96 Cool....other than the few missed crashes I did make sure I had the structure of the song down and i think it is pretty solid in that respect. Add the crashes I missed and it will be better....I may even do another cover with the crashes in it. I have also wanted to just do an ad lib cover of this Surfaris version (just put in my own groove and licks)...Also I would like to do the Ventures version which is a bit different...Any way good luck and let me know when you post your cover

  • My school band did a rendition of this and it, I have to admit, was pretty cool. I'm on the set and my friend Zach is as well and we have a solo in the middle. If you want to check it out go to my page. If you like it then feel free to comment, subscribe, and rate.

  • i was the 11,000th person to watch this video

  • @minidrummerguy Excellent !!! Though I hope you liked it......Nick

  • @readyeddy101 nick?

  • @minidrummerguy Yup...Nick (you probably figured my name was eddy.....I just randomly came up with that YT name)

  • awesome video, i will have a wipeout video soon. some people in my middle school band made up a better version for wipeout (the solo is different). you drum badass dude. keep up the good work.

  • @Badboy24752 Thanks Julan. Cool that you are going do a w out vid. Send it over to me if you want. I would like to check it out....Keep rocking my friend...Nick

  • i can see that ur in pain in ur forearms lol i covered this song and i thought my arms were gonna fall off

  • Good cover!

  • @MoThugz4Ever Thanks man...I try for an old goat !!! ha ha ....Nick

  • AWESOME! That was a great cover, you did an extremely great job. I'm a guitarist but drumming is another interest that I have yet to pursue. Keep it up. God Bless

  • @AdRiAnHoDgEs1985 Thanks Adrian. You are very kind....God Bless you....Nick

  • i don't mean to offend anyone in any way, but it looks like you are holding drum sticks wrong

  • @tardis9659 No offense taken. I appreciate you checking my video out. I hold them match grip and I believe they were being held correctly and feel most comfortable. Sometines I hold them traditional grip but it depends on the type of song I cover. I took a look at the video watching my hands just to see if I noticed anything out of place but it seemed ok. What is weird is that I recently reviewed both my grips (stick placement on the fulcrum, finger position, etc)......Nick

  • Sweet vid...this is the next song I'm gonna learn. I've been playing for a year now, and I wanna build up my speed...by the looks of it, this song will help, lol. Awesome cover!

  • @disciple0627 Thanks...good for you that you have been playing the drums for a year. You are correct in that this cover will help build up your speed. You will develop your single rolls, timing etc. Good choice of song....nick

  • at 0:56 it sounds like your playing triplets

  • @TheMetalyankee No triplets just single stroke rolls. At :56 I am playing off the ride.

  • Im 11 and may I say that is so easy to do ^.^

  • @99pokemonfan Yes you may but how easy it is to play properly depends on your drumming abilities. That is your abilities to follow the song arrangement and your abilities to execute. For a beginning player it would take longer than for an experienced player. It is a good first song to learn because it develops your single stroke rolls, stamina and timing. I was hoping you had a cover of this posted but I did not find one on your channel....Nick

  • i cannot play this song with out tensing my bum

  • @WheresTheFunInThat Hey bro...maybe you need an enema or try drinking some prune juice 1 hr before you play....

  • @Bishmar101 I was drumming against the studio version with drums.

  • From one drummer to another...good job, but your wrists are killin' me!!

  • @Lehmann108 Ha Ha....I thought I was using to much arm and not wrist.......I appreciate you watching and commenting...from one drummer to another....Nick

  • 5 people totally "wiped out" and missed the like button! A.W.E.S.O.M.E! good job

  • @JBMAC92082 I appreciate you checking the vid out your kind words. Not to be vain but the reality is I listened to the Surfaris version pretty well and played it fairly close. I never really understood the thumbs downs on this one. It is different from the Ventures version. Both version are good. Maybe some people only expecting the Ventures version?? Well, Joel Berryhill...the current drummer for the Surfaris made a nice comment as did you and others....so again I say thanks....Nick

  • this song s so easy check out my videos on drum lessons and covers

  • omg you make it look so easy :P

  • @barboro1 Thanks....the truth is my forarms were cramping up about 1/2 way into the song but I didn't want to stop. I normally don't cramp on the song but my arms were pretty "wiped out" when I started that video plus I should have been using more wrist....

  • i love playing this song, you did great one thing tho u need to fucus on your wrist more than just your arms. this song is like 80% wrist, so just loosen up and it will be better but this was great :)

  • @hojoe33 Hey...Thanks so much for watching, your kind comments and you tip. You are very correct about the wrists. I did it the hard and painful way :-) Take care Nick

  • pretty good but like the last guy said more wrists and watch your accents but otherwise pretty good!:)

  • @sk8er139651 Hey...thanks...I know about the wrists. That was definitely "arm" technique.....no wonder I got arm cramps.....I suffered to much and almost quit drung the cover but I wouldn't let myself give in...For the suffering alone it was worth posting...LOL...

  • dude u look like ur struggleing 2 things1 relax its a fun song 2 use more wrists

  • @coasterlover98 ry correct. i was struggling like a bastard on this video. My forearms cramped up but my stubborn ass self said do not quit. So I posted it.

I thing the cover itself came out prtty close to the studio version of the Surfaris but technically you are correct. Playying with the wrist is correct and being relaxed usually makes that happen.. Very perceptive and you get a gold star :-))

  • @PatrickStarP33 Hey, thanks for checking it out Patrick!!! I appreciate it..

  • nice 1 mate dun a nice job :) fun song 2 play

  • @damagedizzle Hey man. Thanks so much for checking it out and you kind comment. I really means alot to me....take care...Nick

  • hey man great cover really solid on the entrance i was just wondering what kind of set up this was and thanks for the vid =)

  • @realslimman Hey Thanks for checking it out and your uplifting comments. The kit I use for my vid's is actually the least quality set I have (Rogers, lower to middle of the road).. I keep it set up because my two boys and their friends jam quite a bit and I let them use the set. The cymb are Paiste. It all sound ok and does the job I own 4 sets; 3 are vintage sets from 70's and one from '69. A Ludwig which is set up at where my band practices and the other 2 are in cases for when I gig.

  • yo dude awsome cover im looking for a new kit i ask what kit you use and where you got it

  • @environmentalhazzard Thanks so much for watching and the kind comment. The drum kit you see in the video is a Rogers, low to mid end. My sons jam with friends and I wanted to have a kit that they could play on. I have 3 others but thay are higher end and older sets in good shape. I got the kit at a local drum shop for about $400.

  • VROOM! I can tap out this beat with my right thumb and right ring finger, but for the life of me can't do it with two hands. If that makes any sense.

  • @furlonium1 I just tried it the way you can do it and I could do it pretty well too. Practice lightly with your two index fingers and after a bit of practice I bet you'll have it down pat. Just don't do it too hard. Don't need you breaking your fingers :-))

Thanks for checking the video out !

  • very nice man. Im about to play this at a talent show and this gives me good techniques

  • @Kiwizzle44 Thank you very much. That's awesome! That is what my intentions are with the covers (to help out drummers who are trying to learn). I use YouTube sometimes when I am trying to learn a cover. It's a great educational resource. I listened to the song quite a bit so it is very close to the recording. Let me know how you do in the talent show!!!

  • awsome

  • @MySlipknot100 Thanks slipknot !

  • Freakin awesome!

  • @lacubsfan Hey thanks lacubsfan. Thnaks for watching an for you king comment!!

I am glad you liked it.

  • even though there's just two who don't like this video, i think there's something wrong with them

  • @Hillaker1231 Isaac...Thanks for watching and your comment. I guess thats why they invented chocolate and vanilla. Can't please everyone. Glad you liked it.

  • that was great! what type of cymbals are you using?

  • Thanks. paiste 201, 20" ride, 16 crash (also 1 16 zilj crash), 14 h hats. It is amazing how many times people have asked about the cymbals because I think i paid around $135 for all of them new as a set. I didn't want to have to use my other cymbals for the practice set that you see in the video. My other cymbals I have set up at one of my band member's house which I also use when I play ou on gigs. I am beginning to think the paste ride sounds better than the old zidlian ride I have.

  • Nice job keep rocking!

  • @DrumZforLive Thanks Drumz......for taking the time to watch and for your kind comment. Very much appreciated my friend.

  • Very impressive :)

  • @iPannick Thanks

  • u messed up on some of the accents but other then that it was good :D good job

  • You honor me sir.

  • You have humbled me Joel.

  • nice but maybe why your arm hurt is because your using you arm, use your wrist.

  • You are correct but for some reason I did drum this song too much with my arms and I hadn't warmed up properly. But I didn't quite and the result came out ok so I went with it. But your point is very well taken by me and is correct for all drummers to know. Thanks

  • woow your really good

  • Thank you very much for your kind comment.

  • man i can do this song on doublebass

  • I would really like to see that.

  • i love this thanks you have helped me patch it up in some places, really good druming.

  • Thanks for the nice comment munsta. i am glad my cover helped. It's definitely a great song to cover if you want to work on single stroke rolls. Let me know how you make out drumming to the song. Maybe you can post it and I'll have a look. I'm not into playing lick for lick on covers. If you get 90% that's real good. I like it when drummers add a bit of their own style. The first and most important thing I look for is if the drummer keeps good time throughout the song.

  • Thanks.I appreciate your comment.

  • very well played
