I think the rule is to stop throwing for example over-rotating and gaining extra distance but falling out of the back of the circle as part of their technique, which is a foul.
yea you could easily foul for leaving the circle like that....i know if I did that in my div III college meets i would get a foul...you have to wait until the official says mark
They took pity on an old thrower (60 years old) and let me throw at Salinas last year. The facilities are wonderful and the wind is unbelievable. It was exciting watching the very best throw.
When was he airborne? The disc had landed by the time he started jumping. That is allowed. the only foul would be stepping over the front lines as well as the top stand.
All I'm saying is I've seen Officials foul for leaving a circle like that.... Leaving the circle while airborne definitly could get called if the official was a jerk.
i'm pretty sure he was controlled if he was standing in the middle of the ring after he threw

I dont think so.. maybe all i know is that it has to be out the back (obviously) and under control
benjy468 2 years ago
the thrower has to have control before they step out, and he had control, then he jumped out, so thats okay
rollydogg 2 years ago
Yeah and henz was right you have to wait for the official to say mark
benjy468 2 years ago
usually they say mark after you leave the ring so that cant be right

And the discus has to land first. And you have to leave the ring from behind those lines othervise its not a valid throw.

you know... a dickhead ref would probably call that a foul for not leaving the circle controlled.

it wouldnt matter if he was airborne as long as he was controlled after he threw the disc.
