  • Such harsh comments! It's merely a sketch. Things that this totally net zero demand home have like SIPS panels, solar panels, and sustainable materials are becoming more and more common place in today's architecture. Although not used in "typical" projects to the advanced level as was done here, these systems help us save energy and money too. The whole idea is to make a home that is economical, while being as little an impact to the environment as possible. Nothing wrong with that!

  • simple cob/straw house with wood burning stove is 20X cheaper and 100x greener.

  • :D what a retards :)

  • Too many engineers on this project. $300,000 for an 800 sq ft home. Go back to the drawing board.

  • I think it is crazy the cost of over 300 thousand for a 12X40 building. I would love solar and wind power but the makers of the equipment are in the get rich quick market. I was told to do my home the cost to break even would take 15 years at the current rates and I would be dead by then. Most major parts last about 15 years and would need replaced by time of making a profit. This means by replacing the worn parts you start all over again and the makers are the only ones to make money.

  • @ReddsMorris the IDEA is shit but fashionable aka "GREEN". But is not green at all :) so why this team win.

  • Hail storm brake solar panels.

  • actually the energy to make panels are offset in three years and can last longer than 80 years

  • You are an idiot!

  • solar panels suck ass, they are to expensive , are made out of high energy materials and have no long life garantees
